This hotel cost me less than £40 for two nights including breakfast so expectations were relatively low. The receptionist's English was limited however being in her 40s or older she did have reasonable German so that got me by. My room was on the second floor and overlooked the street. Trams run until late and from early morning so bear this in mind if you're a light sleeper. The windows keep most but not all of the noise out. The curtains are not very thick either but street lighting is below the second floor. Fine in winter when you're asleep after dark and up at dawn. The bathroom was clean and the shower worked well. The breakfast was good; this was probably worth most of the fare paid. Cereals, continental fare and hot dogs. Plenty of selection. I would have had more but for Honest Guide and its food recommendations forcing me to keep my stomach half-empty for lunch and evening meal. This hotel works if you're just going to sleep and be out all day. Žižkov is a relatively safe and up-and-coming area so you'll rarely feel threatened. The famous TV tower with the children crawling up it is only a few hundred metres from this hotel and there is a tram stop barely 30 seconds' walk outside the door. Not one to take the wife to, but fine on a budget.

The staff here were very friendly and helpful. I emailed in advance to request a twin room rather than double and ideally not on the ground floor as reviews said it was noisey and they gave us a lovely room on the 2nd floor with a double bed and a single bed. Yes, I got the double ;-) Having paid less than £100 each for our flight from London Stansted and 3 nights in thishotel, with breakfast, we were nit expecting too much. We even planned to pay and stay elsewhere if it wasn't comfortable. No need though as it was extremely comfortable. Had a great night's sleep all 3 nights. Could hear the traffic a little but itdidnit disturb my sleep. Breakfast was a buffet of breads, cheeses, cold meets, hot frankfurter type sausages and juices, tea, coffee, cereals, salad, yoghurts. They give you a key with a fob on it that you use to get in and to operate the lifts. Nice as this makes it feel more secure. Free safe in the room, kettle, microwave and fridge. Bathroom was small but did the job, shower was nice and hot with good flow. Turn left out of the hotel and there is a big Albert supermarket about 200m away. Biggest we found in Prague after lots of walking. There is also a comparatively small Tescos Express 5 minutes walk if you look it up on Google Maps. We found a lovely restaurant called Lavicka 5 minutes walk on same side of road as the hotel if you turn right out of hotel. Tomato soup with basil pesto & parmesan and pork ribs were amazing. Drinksvery reasonable too. Tram stop is 100m to the right of the hotel. Got a bus and then a tram from the airport. Was about £1 each for a 90 minute ticket and that was more than enough time. Don't waste your money on a taxi if you are happy using Google mapson phone its easy. This is not a luxury hotel but it is a very comfortable, good value and friendly one. Would highly recommend to anyone who is happy with cheap comfort and doesnt care about 4*+ accomodation.

The rooms are super small so don't expect to have a ton of space to walk around etc. With that being said it does offer the basics such as safe, hot water, a pretty limited breakfast menu etc. It is super easy to get around from the hotel though as the tram stops very close to the hotel, maybe 30m maximum. Definitely works for those on a budget that won't spend a ton of time in the room.

Room Tip: Lower floor is probably better since you have to walk up steps as the elevator is tiny and slow,

The staff were really friendly, the tram stop is right outside and the breakfast is exactly as you would expect. It was the perfect place to stay for a little city break if you're planning on spending most of your time outside. Would absolutely stay here again.

Golden City Garni Prague came up as a very good priced accommodation on booking com site. Booked it. The shock of life the first night, the apartment that was shown in pictures was a dream, it was an attic conversion with 3-foot head clearance and everyone banged heads with a ceiling, no one could sleep. Could not take pics, the phone was dead. Reception did not respond to solve the matter. Next morning, made a complaint, reception Lady with a big face ON changed the apartment to a dormitory with 3x5 feet toilet, whose exhaust was opening into the dining area. (See pic). Inhumane, unhealthy condition. Dirty towels, dirty bedsheets, no cleaning of the room, stinking enjoinment, no heating. Terrible cage. Breakfast, OMG...shame.... Crockery and cutlery were spot full and stinky. I fail to understand, who give these premises the status of a hotel, stars can go to the bin. How can Booking.com offer people this property without inspecting it? I am going to claim a full refund for the accommodation, I paid for. Please stay away, honestly the only good pint is that the tram stop is walkable from this torturous, shamefully called as a Hotel.
