Both times we stayed we had stocked mini bars. No bad smells and rooms were clean. Staff politeness can be a mixed bag but most were friendly. To respond to the comment "why are you staying there?" It is a very significant historic building with unique artworks and has very good local pubs near it that are much cheaper than the city centre. It is well served by trams and next to a great little whisky bar. Do not be put off.
