Reviews Summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.

Hotel Merkur garners appreciation for its cleanliness and the welcoming service provided by its staff, with guests frequently commending the hotel's well-maintained rooms and personalized touches. While the central location is a highlight for many visitors, allowing easy access to nearby attractions, the outlook onto a busy road is less admired. Guests enjoy the amenities, although the absence of in-room tea and coffee facilities has been noted. Opinions on the hotel's atmosphere and room decor vary, with some suggesting updates are needed to enhance the overall experience.

German family of five: Nice little place. Friendly staff. Great breakfast. Quite central too. Not a big fancy place, but down to earth, clean and comfy. Family room not large but enough for the five of us. We can absolutely recommend it. Try it.

On arrival the Receptionist was very welcoming. She had a wealth of information regarding tram stops, bus routes, great knowledge about places to visit and how to get there. Free vouchers for a free drink in hotel bar and free drinks at the Panorama cafe in Wenceslas Square amazing views. Discount card given for certain restaurants and shops etc. There was a variety of continental and warm foods for breakfast. Room was clean, lovely cosmetics left with shoe shine, shoe horn, tea/ coffee facilities. A lovely touch also to find a complimentary red wine left in room when we arrived. Location was great, tram stop outside hotel takes you everywhere and hotel is walking distance to the abundant coffee shops, restaurants and shops. Every turn you make you will come across lovely eateries, bars etc. When leaving Receptionist offered bottles of water for journey, gave a small gift to remember Prague by and a discount if we return. Just make sure, if you struggle with mobility that you ask for a room with shower cubicle. Our room had a shower but we had to climb into the bath which wasn't an issue for us but for others it might be. Hotel is spotless and all staff friendly, thank you for make our stay fab. Would definitely return.

First impression of the well positioned hotel (being very close to tram, metro and Hop-On/Hop-Off bus stops), was one of pleasure. The receptionist spoke great English and couldn't have been more helpful and informative to two Brits having just arrived in the Czech Republic. We were given detailed maps and discount cards for different aspects of Prague, without having to ask and were even given a fridge magnet when checking out, as a small token of our stay. A nice touch....... The hotel was very clean and presentable with seating areas within the reception and on an upper level close to the lift. It had a certain character associated with a building that, I believe, was a former brewery many decades ago. Our room was on the first of five floors and was very spacious, with a comfortable bed, large bathroom, minibar (chargeable), bottle of tap water in the room (replaced daily) and was most importantly, quiet throughout the day and night. The Cafe Merkur bar was really all one needed at anytime throughout the day and evening, serving good drinks and snacks. The restaurant next to the cafe (only operational at breakfast) was again spacious and well presented and served the most delightful breakfast I have ever tasted from a hotel of this classification. The food quality and variety on offer was truly exceptional. All the staff we encountered were very friendly and courteous and seemed to enjoy heir work at the hotel (speaks volumes). Close to Republic Square (10 mins), Old Town and Wenceslas Squares (15 mins), Lesser Town (25 mins over Charles Bridge). Would definitely return

Nice hotel in a good location. Staff were very friendly and helpful, there was mulled wine at reception to help yourself and we were given bottles of water when we checked out. Rooms were very clean, perhaps in need of a little tlc but they were comfy and cozy with good facilities. Would stay here again.

I need to write a review because I was very pleased with the stay here. Hotel was chosen by my company and I was nicely surprised with older hotel and the nicest people at the reception. I came late and got a mulled wine gratis. Then I request an extra pillow and extra minibar. Nothing was problem for them even in late hours.

Overall a fair hotel but wouldn't class it as 4*. Biggest issue are the parquet floor in the rooms. Many of the tiles were loose and lifted making it very uncomfortable and noisy to walk on. Breakfast had plenty of choice including hot and cold. Only issue was the hot food was never really hot, warm at best. There was no tea/coffee facilities in the room but after asking at reception a kettle etc was supplied
