Reviews summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.
Powered by AI

Hotel Merkur garners consistent praise for its impeccable cleanliness, with guests frequently commending the spotless conditions of both rooms and bathrooms, alongside thorough daily housekeeping. While the amenities are generally appreciated, particularly for the variety in breakfast offerings, there is a sentiment that they could benefit from modernization. The hotel's atmosphere is recognized for its thoughtful details, though some guests feel a refresh could enhance the overall vibe. Its prime central location is a highlight for many visitors, even if the vistas are less impressive due to adjacent busy thoroughfares. Opinions on the rooms are divided; comfort and cleanliness receive accolades, but concerns are raised regarding their size and some maintenance issues. Above all, the hotel's staff is lauded for their exceptional service, offering personalized attention and valuable recommendations, which many travelers find enhances the hotel's value despite some views on it being slightly overpriced.

2 days in Prague after coronavirus time and we booked for first night just a Merkur hotel. It was a great choice cos it is a very good hotel. We had a fantastic value for EUR 55 a night including very good breakfast - choice between buffet at the restaurant or service to the room.
Room was very clean as well as all areas at the hotel.
We took bikes for city trip what was organized by the hotel. They have own retro bikes for free for their guests what is very nice. The day was much nicer for us.

The hotel is in a good position, located close to the center. As the period requires, all the measures to avoid any not necessary contact have been implemented, online check-in, breakfast in the room and free disinectants available. The room was clean and the employees were kind and helpful. Recommended.

The hotel itself is outstanding: clean, located in the city center, people that work there are professionals who know how to provide the best service. Parking option is included in price, the garage is private and secured.
Breakfast is at top level. The food diversity is not so common for hotels. We stayed in this hotel for 4 days and every day there was something new.
A bottle of wine and a greeting card were a pretty complement, thanks ;)

In this review I would like to thank all the staff that is related to the hotel - starting with people at the reception desk to cleaning ladies. They are all kind and attentive. The hotel itself is not modern and needs some renovations, but it is still comfortable and worth it, especially their breakfast ❤️

Absolutely brilliant city break . Very friendly
and helpful staff, nothing to much trouble. When I asked for sweetener and the young waitress couldnt understand she translated on her phone for me. Receptionist recommended great restaurants for delicious meals and gave us complimentary bottles of water for our return journey to airport and also gave us all a fridge magnet as a souvenir Maid cleaned room every day. Excellent location. Buffet breakfast fantastic value for money. Will be back soon!!

On arrival the Receptionist was very welcoming. She had a wealth of information regarding tram stops, bus routes, great knowledge about places to visit and how to get there. Free vouchers for a free drink in hotel bar and free drinks at the Panorama cafe in Wenceslas Square amazing views. Discount card given for certain restaurants and shops etc.
There was a variety of continental and warm foods for breakfast.
Room was clean, lovely cosmetics left with shoe shine, shoe horn, tea/ coffee facilities. A lovely touch also to find a complimentary red wine left in room when we arrived.
Location was great, tram stop outside hotel takes you everywhere and hotel is walking distance to the abundant coffee shops, restaurants and shops. Every turn you make you will come across lovely eateries, bars etc.
When leaving Receptionist offered bottles of water for journey, gave a small gift to remember Prague by and a discount if we return.
Just make sure, if you struggle with mobility that you ask for a room with shower cubicle. Our room had a shower but we had to climb into the bath which wasn't an issue for us but for others it might be.
Hotel is spotless and all staff friendly, thank you for make our stay fab.
Would definitely return.

We were a little disappointed with this hotel. Our room was extremely small .. although the bathroom was huge it had a large bath to climb in and out of a shower head but nothing to stop the water going everywhere.
This was dangerous for me as I’m nearly 70 and worried about slipping or falling.

We did ask for a room with a shower and they moved us to a room with a shower which was larger.

The hotel is an old building but we felt it was very tired and could do with some updating and decorating.

However; the staff were friendly and helpful, the breakfast was excellent as was the mulled wine in reception. The location is good, easy access to everything, plenty of nearby restaurants, plenty of shops.

We would like to return to Prague but will probably stay somewhere else.

At the begining of september we were on a trip with my husband in Prague and stayed in hotel Merkur and I must say we loved it!
Breakfast is cheap and all you can eat, the food was delicious and as a bonus there is a free brunch from 15-19 with soups, sanwiches, and deserts.
The staff is friendly and helpfull.
The rooms are overall clean and confortable.
The metro, tram and buss stop are nearby also its near the city center.
Would definetly recomend to stay there!

Very basic tired looking hotel. Unwelcoming atmosphere. Beds very uncomfortable and old. Towels looked old and worn although appeared clean. Toiletries in bathroom was a nice gesture. No tea/coffee making facilities in room and hotel would not provide when we asked if we could borrow one. We were told we could use the restaurant in the afternoon to get hot water to make our own drinks (took our own tea/coffee). The restaurant was average for breakfast. Good location - could walk everywhere. We booked this hotel in response to all the positive previous reviews but felt that our experience was nothing like the other positive reviews - no kettle, fridge, no personal touches like previous reviews ie bottle of wine in the room upon arrival which we weren’t bothered about and we were not offered the free snacks by the restaurant in the afternoon which others were offered. Would not choose to stay here again.

We arranged our own transfer which was only £10 each way per person. The hotel emailed us after I'd made those arrangements offering to do so for us but no price was quoted.
