Initially, not pleased with the hotel. We arrived to a very busy Wenceslas Square and there was no parking available. I hopped out and went in to inquire where we should park, and the front desk staff brusquely told me I should have reserved a space. I was unaware of this. After a few moments, she did locate us a... Hotel looks beautiful from the outside but is dated and quite depressing inside.Pillows were the worst I've ever slept on. We had to ask for extra ones but it didn't help matters. Our room looked like the sort of place a catholic nun goes to die. Also be prepared for the staff to throw you filthy looks every time you... More

We went to Europe for a month recently. Visited lots of cities, many of which with considerable Art Nouveau roots. By far, Prague was our favorite Art Nouveau city. This hotel is right on Wenceslas Square, and has great Art Nouveau architecture. Even if you don't stay here, you should stop by to see the beautifully restored Art Nouveau facade... More

Hotel Meran is in a perfect location, on the centre of Wenceslas square and only a small walk to the older part of town. On entering the hotel was greeted by the friendly hotel receptionist who was happy to help us with any questions we had and we even had an upgrade to a big room with a balcony. Rooms... More

Located right in the middle of Wenceslas Square and a perfect base for your trip to Prague, a lot of the attractions are within walking distance of the hotel. The tram stop is very close by and there are numerous sightseeing tours from the square. The rooms are nice, clean and comfortable but the bathrooms are a bit dated. The... More

Located on Wenceslas Square, Hotel Meran is a perfect location for sightseeing in Prague. We could walk to most everything and the tram stop was easy to get to, also. Rooms are very nice and the breakfast was great. Eleanor & Martin were very helpful with directions and answering our questions. This is definitely a good choice and we would... More

Hotel Meran is localed right in front of the Wencelas Square, which is a great thing to start with. The hotel is nice... I do know it is a very old building so I do give them the benefit of the doubt to a certain extend. Having said that, I think the bathroom needs an update. The room I thought... More

We traveled to Prague with two other couples, and we chose the Hotel Meran for its great location. We were not disappointed. The hotel has quite a bit of history to it, having been owned by one family before WW11, losing it to the Third Reich, and then repurchasing it after the fall of the Communist regime. This obviously is... More

Staying in Nove Mesto (New Town)

Neighborhood Profile
Nove Mesto (New Town)
Nearly 700 hundred meters long, Wenceslas Square represents the most frequent and buzzing crossroads of the city. The National Museum in the upper part of the square watches over your spending spree in countless shops and retail stores lining the entire square, which ends at Na Příkopě, the most famous shopping street. When tired or broke, you can explore the city's underpasses, which can take you to the Old Town or to the courtyards of art nouveau houses with secret gems of greenery, white benches and rose bushes that provide unexpected peace in the midst of the city. Be sure to pay a visit to the traditional cafés, classic Czech pubs, cinemas and theaters. National Theater near the river has a lot to offer to foreigners. Go to the river bank and enjoy live music and drinks while watching a sunset behind Prague Castle.
