Hotel Golden Star is located in a magnificent baroque building right underneath the Prague Castle. It offers an unforgettable view of Malá Strana (Lesser Side), the Prague Castle and the Old Town. Its staircase, which is 270 years old, and richly decorated ceilings contribute to the hotel’s antique atmosphere. All rooms are equipped with historical furniture and have free Internet access. Rooms look over Malá Strana (Lesser Side), the Royal Route, Prague Castle or the Old Town. You will reach the Charles Bridge and the Old Town by taking a short walk through the enchanting historical centre of Prague. You will be served a choice of typically Czech as well as international cuisine in a restaurant with an antique vaulted ceiling. Breakfast is served in the form of rich hot buffet. A limited number of parking places is available directly in front of the hotel. You can use free Internet spot in the lobby.

We stayed at the Golden Star for 3 nights and we're blown away by how nice it was!

Although traditional from the outside, the rooms and restaurant were modern and spotless, with all the amenities we could have needed! The bed was super comfy and the rooms were toasty warm in the heart of winter. The staff were friendly, helpful and the welcome drink on arrival was an added bonus.

The hotel is located up a hill on the castle side of the river - which meant it was very peaceful and quiet in the evening, but only a short walk (10/15 minutes) downhill to the heart of the city. The views from the hotel across the city were beautiful (for an even better view nip up the short hill outside the hotel to the outside of the castle at night time!) and it was placed perfectly for getting too and from the airport.

One of our other highlights was the breakfast - we were spoilt for choice every morning (continental meats and cheeses, hot items, breads, pastries, fruits, yogurts etc) and the staff worked exceptionally to ensure the buffet was always well stocked.

We'd definitely stay at the Golden Star again and would highly recommend to anyone considering a trip to Prague!

My wife and I enjoyed a long weekend stay at the Golden Star hotel booked via British Airways.

From arrival on Friday to departure on Monday every conversation with every member of staff was positive.

We had room 14 overlooking the front down the lane, a great view when you open the curtains or look out of the window.

Breakfast was good quality continental with eggs, bacon, sausages and other hot items available too.

We enjoyed walks up to the tower, into the castle grounds, down to the river and of course to various restaurants nearby.

Will definitely go back.

We stayed here in December and had a fantastic time at this hotel. It's perfectly located for the castle and the Malá Strava area but also it didn't take more than 10-15 minutes to reach Charles bridge and cross over into the old town. The hotel's recommendation to catch the metro from further down and return by tram also worked really well. We were lucky to be allocated suite 33 on our stay with views down the street to the centre of Prague. The room was huge and we also had a complimentary bottle of wine waiting for us there. The hotel itself was quiet yet so convenient: exactly what we wanted for our pre-Christmas break. They arranged reasonably priced transport for us from and back to the airport (750CZK one way) and everything went well. The breakfast buffet was ideal and fresh omelettes could be ordered if desired. We ate twice at the restaurant attached to the hotel (they give you a drinks voucher when you arrive) and also at nearby restaurants (e.g. U Dvou Sluncu and the Red Lion) which all served good (if not adventurous) Czech cooking which was exactly what we wanted during our stay. If you need a friendly, well located yet quiet hotel with good amenities for your stay in Prague, this is the place to come.

Short and sweat. The Hotel was excellent. Everything worked properly in our very comfortable room, the staff couldn't have tried harder or been more accommodating, the breakfast was well prepared and plentiful and the hotels location is in a quiet beautiful area next to the castle. Be sure to take warm clothing.

We stayed in this hotel for 4 nights. Hotel is situated just 5 minutes walk from the Prague Castle and about 10 minutes from Malostranska square. Amazing location, just be prepared for a tough climb up the road when coming back.
Breakfast was delicious with various hot and cold meals, tasty coffee and tea selection.
Standard room was not big,but tidy and clean.
Hotel is pet friendly, and you can bring your fluffy friend without any additional fee.
Reception is always available, helpful and friendly.
Toiletries kits were quite good also we loved the various tea selection in the room.
We can recommend the hotel for pairs.

We stayed here as a family for 3 nights in February and loved the warm welcome and hearty breakfasts. The welcome drink and welcome wine in the room were greatly appreciated too! Nothing was too much trouble for our hosts. The spacious, well- equipped rooms were sparkly clean and the views over Prague were breathtaking! We wished we had booked for a week! A wonderful stay! Thank you!

Stayed here for 3 nights in a single room, the room was perfect, exceptionally clean, great amenities too. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the breakfast was delicious and had a good variety. The location is great, only 10 minutes walk to Charles Bridge, or there's transport stops within 5 minutes walk so very easy to get around, overall very happy with my stay, would definitely stay again when in Prague!

Wow, this hotel was amazing! If I were to go back to Prague this is the only hotel I would want to stay in. When we arrived we were greeted with a glass of Prosecco each and was told by the reception lady that they had given us a complementary room upgrade. We had an amazing view from our room and the room was lovely and spacious. The hotel is very close to Prague Castle. We walked everywhere, it Is at the top of a steep hill but that is Prague, it wasn't far from Charles Bridge. We had a great time, would 100% recommend this hotel.

What a fantastic hotel! The location is superb, literally next door to Prague Castle. The views over the city are just breath taking. The rooms are beautiful and spotlessly clean. the staff are wonderful. Jana and Jiri on reception were so friendly and welcoming they helped us with everything - directions, taxis, recommendations for places to eat/visit. We travelled with our 9 year old, the family room we booked was just wonderful so spacious and comfortable. I have to mention the breakfasts too, they are amazing, so much choice. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough, we had wonderful stay and will absolutely be returning as soon as we can!

I write this as I am wide awake at 130 am.

Been here two days and haven’t been able to sleep due to some creaks (sounds) coming during the middle of the night. I assume they’ve got a building central heat turning on which causes certain loud banging noises as they start at the same time of the night.

Also, the hotel guest above me arrived at 1145pm at night and jumped up the common stairs and all I could hear was “thump thump thump” and I also suppose they’re not used to staying in hard wood floors as they walk very loud and do not realize there are people below them.

It’s sad because it’s a beautiful hotel but the construction is just terrible.

What good is beauty if you aren’t getting the rest you need?

I specifically chose this hotel because everyone said it’s in a quiet area but the walls are so light that I can hear my next door neighbor flush the toilet etc.

This really ruined my trip and I haven’t been able to enjoy Prague so far. I’m extremely disappointed.

We are travelling and we expect peace and a restful sleep.

Response from AVEHotels, Manažer at Hotel Golden Star
Responded Jan 13, 2020
Dear Madam, thank you for your feedback, we do appreciate it. I am sorry to see that so far you were unable to enjoy your stay to your satisfaction. You did inform us that you are medically noise sensitive and we have let you choose the most suitable room for you. Please let me only note that the hotel is a three hundred years old original UNESCO protected building in the very centre of our metropolis. During the recent reconstruction we installed various noise reduction measures however the noise unfortunately can not be reduced absolutely. We are not using carpets but rather best quality wooden floors to avoid issues for guests with allergies. And the 270 years old staicase is actually an original art piece that we decided to keep in order for all the guest to enjoy. Once again I am sorry for the issues and hope that your condition gets better soon! Wishing you a lovely day, E.Aljanabi, QC Manager.

Yes, it does and we did eat there. It’s pretty decent.

Dear Madam, thank you for your enquiry! I cannot accurately comment on third party websites, however please let me explain the situation: All the Deluxe rooms have view of the city. Most Triple rooms are Deluxe rooms except for one. Please be so kind to double check if it´s actually not the Standard Triple without a view. So to answer your question: not all the Triple rooms have a view of the city. However again, unfortunately I cannot confirm what´s on third party websites. I hope that I was able to answer your question, please contact us again, should you have more! Wishing you a great day, E.Aljanabi, QC Manager.

Hello, Could you tell me what the difference is between your Standard and Deluxe rooms please?
Answer from AVEHotels
Dear Lilmissy, thank you for your enquiry! And thanks to Nicole and Wowo, their answers are informative and correct. The Deluxe views are simply amazing! Plus you get a great Italian wine (Primitivo/Falanghina) and more luxury amenities (bathrobe, slippers, etc.). All the rooms have a similar high standard of design, luxury and utility, however the large rooms with the VIEWS are the best :) Wishing you a great day, E.Aljanabi, QC Manager.
