The hotel was scrupulously clean.
Breakfast was varied and appetising although cooked breakfast wasn’t hot enough.
A minor point (no English Breakfast tea). Take your own.
Reception staff were very helpful. Fairly local. More than a 5 minute walk to the town more like 20 minutes to the Old Town, but a good location nevertheless!
Overall very pleased!

The drive from and to the airport was on time and very friendly. (I believe at had nothing to do with the hotel, but the deal).
The hotel is nothing better than standard. Location can be comfortable, if you are understand the tram timetables and maps. Rooms are clean and apuiped with minimal needs. We found it quite frustrating that after a whole day out side in the city and sites, or early morning get ups, there was no way to have a cup of coffee/tea. Had to go out to a coffee shop. The staff are "filling" their jobs, not much more.
The city is beautiful, interesting and tasty.

I have recently returned from a weekend in Prague and I have to say that I was quite impressed with the hotel. I'd booked the weekend via Expedia and only afterwards did I check TripAdvisor.com (I know, I know...). Anyway, I was a little disappointed to see some fairly negative reviews on here.
When we actually arrived, it seemed a good location and the lobby was exceptionally clean and modern. I'd seen some photographs at Expedia so I knew more or less what to expect with regards to the decor. The room was very nice indeed; a good size and perfectly clean and bright.
Despite what some reviews say, the hotel is very close the old town...in fact no more than a 10 min walk from the action which was fine for us even though the temperature was -5°c while we were there.
The staff seemed friendly and very accommodating considering my complete ignorance of the Czech language. The only negative points were the breakfast, which was a little dry and uninspiring. The coffee was tepid each morning (3 nights) and not too fresh either. The only other thing was that there was no 'stand up' shower in the bathroom; just a shower head for use in a regular bath.
All in all it was a perfectly acceptable hotel; in fact the only negative part of the whole trip was the group of loud English blokes in Prague for a stag-do staying at our hotel. This caused us to abandon the hotel bar one night and we were also awakened at 0530 one morning by them returning from their night out. This of course was totally out of the hotel's control and I only mention it to warn of the potential for similar experiences owing to the availability of cheap beer!

Six of us stayed here for two nights in June. It is a lovely hotel, the rooms are spacious and very well furnished and the staff are very helpful. The hotel is fairly central - only a 10 minute walk from the old square.
My only negative comment would be that the rooms may be a little noisy if you have the windows open at night in the summer (no air conditioning).
However, for location, cleanliness and overall value I would highly recommend the Opera and will stay here again.

We are 6 staff of a Scottish island hotel who went on a team building trip to Prague. We were delighted by our accommodation. Very clean and extremely helpful staff. More like our Scottish 3 star guest house than a four star hotel but all services were 5 star. Near a tube and the hotel sold tickets for this and organised tours and cruises with pick ups from the hotel. Very good local restaurant nearby and handy for airport - 860 cz using a private taxi for all 6 of us. Substantial breakfasts, quality bathrooms with excellent showers and loads of hot water. Cosy for winter - we visited in Nov 05 but could be overwarm in summer with no air conditioning and near a motorway with noise and pollution.

We stayed at the Hotel Opera in Prague in July2005 for three nights. The hotel is slightly of the beaten track although you can walk to the Old town centre in about 15 minutes, however the surrounding area does leave a bit to be desired. The hotel was well furnished with traditional furniture and was very clean and well kept. However our stay was somewhat spoiled by the lack of air conditioning which resulted in uncomfortably warm nights and high levels of noise from traffic as the windows had to be left open in order to get cooler air. The breakfast was poor for a 4 star hotel with cold coffee most days.
