location is next to Castle but the hotel does not have resection desk and no full-time receptionist. Staircases very dangerous to climb on with the luggage. My room did not have shower. No air conditioner and it is very hot in June. No screens for the window so get bugs if windows are open. Very expensive for the quality of... More

We booked standard room, but got room with two rooms and bathroom with bathtub. Seens from room were amazing, park with the "eiffel-tower". Room didn't have air-condiontion, but you could open the window and use fan. This was enough for us at july. Hotel is located to the old town, tram stop is near and you only walk to the... More

A recommendation from our hotel to eat here (although we discovered they are the same group of hotels), and we were happy with our meal. We ate in the courtyard which was quaint and lovely on a summer evening. The service was excellent. Our waiter gave each table the utmost attention and was wonderfully attentive. I ordered the Sea Bream... More

The Red Lion Hotel in Prague has 8 rooms. It is an old house with beautiful wood floors and hand painted imagery on the ceilings done about 200 years ago. The beds are comfortable and the conveniences are all there except for the fact that the toilet is in its own room all by itself. There is no elevator but... More

We only visited here for drinks but it has a really nice garden area at the back which is quite romantic. The menu looked good and I kind of wished we had eaten here. Staff were really friendly too. If I came again I would be trying out the cuisine!

The Red Lion is a lovely hotel in an excellent location, five minutes from the castle and about ten minutes from Charles bridge. It was difficult to find when we arrived but once inside the staff were very helpful. We had a lovely room, 31, which was really two rooms, a bedroom and a sitting room. It was spotless and... More

I had organised a surprise visit to Prague for my wife. We were booked into the Golden Star which was highly recommended. However the Golden Star was being renovated before we arrived. We were moved to a sister hotel the Red Lion down the street without my knowledge. To cut along story short Jane one of the managers apologised to... More

Set up a hill in the lesser quarter is this lovely hotel with eight or so rooms. Rooms are quirky, ours was on two levels and very spacious. The hotel was quiet, clean and very good value for money. Buffet breakfast was good and plentiful. Restaurant was very nice with a romantic feel. Food looked excellent although we didn't dine... More

Staying in Mala Strana (Little Quarter)

Neighborhood Profile
Mala Strana (Little Quarter)
Malá Strana is one of the oldest and the most beautiful neighborhoods in the city. Nestled underneath Prague Castle it was once a part of the Kings route taken by future kings on their way to coronation - originating in the Old Town, crossing Charles Bridge and leading to Saint Vitus Cathedral. Cobblestone streets are lined with picturesque medieval houses, remarkable palaces, churches, kitsch shops and restaurants. Do not hesitate to turn a corner into any narrow street. You will suddenly find yourself in a calm and charming neighborhood full of hidden gardens, parks with peacocks, fruit trees and ponds. As the neighborhood is a home to Czech Parliament and many ministries, you can also run into well-dressed officials. If you are thirsty or hungry, it is the right place to be. Restaurants offer delicious traditional food and of course, the best Czech beers.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Romantic hotel Red Lion is located in an historic burgher house from the 15th century in the very centre of Prague. It lies directly on the Royal Route, only 400 metres from the Prague Castle and 500 metres from the Charles Bridge. All rooms have an enchanting view of Petrin, the Royal Route and the roofs of Mala Strana (Lesser Side) underneath the Prague Castle. They are equipped with historical furniture. In some rooms you will find the original painted wooden ceilings dating back to the 17th century. Hotel guests can enjoy lunches in the hotel restaurant with remarkable renaissance ceilings. The restaurant serves traditional Czech as well as international cuisine. Breakfast is served in the form of rich hot buffet. The pub U Cerveneho Lva invites you for a glass of wine or Pilsner beer. Its centuries old stone walls provide cool refuge from the heat in the summer, which makes the pub a perfect oasis to relax in. The bar, which dates back to 1350, is located in a lime stone cellar with Gothic vaulted ceilings. It serves a variety of hot and cold drinks. The pleasant atmosphere of the hotel patio invites our guests to relax. A limited number of parking places is available directly in front of the hotel. You can use free Internet spot in the lobby. ... more   less
