Detailed Reviews
We booked this hotel despite claims that it was a "long walk" from the historic Old and New cities by the riverfront. The relaxed stroll through some of Prague's most charming streets was never boring! Located in a mostly residential area, it is not near rollicking nightlife, but it is right on some of Prague's most useful tram lines. The wifi was spotty, but the property is delghtful.

Not only has this hotel in a beautiful old building the usual amenities (TV, safe, lovely bathroom), is perfectly clean and are the rooms very spacious, but it has this individual style, romantic charm and picturesqueness about it that makes it absolutely unique. It is situated in one of the quietest corners of the town, and still it's only a short walk from where all the big sights are! And if all that wasn't enough to recommend it, the U Raka also has the best breakfast you can imagine and an always friendly, welcoming staff! So stay away! I want it to have vacancies whenever I want to go to Prague again ;-) <3!

Quiet romantic location but easy walk to everything. Prague is busy and bustling with tourists and tour groups, so it was wonderful to come back to Hotel U Raka each evening. Excellent internet connection, delicious breakfast, and near one of the best restaurants in Prague. Couldn't ask for more!

We recently stayed here 4 nights and enjoyed the accommodations immensely. The breakfasts were plentiful and varied and a great way to start the day. Our room was large and well thought out. Service was outstanding and always friendly. The location is a bit out of the way but trolley service easily accessed and a few minute walk. This is a delightful destination that is comforting and also price friendly.

We cannot say enough good things to do justice to this gem of a hotel. Situated in a quiet location, this place was a real find. We loved exploring the city all day and being able to head back to U Raka away from the hustle and bustle. The staff went out of their way to answer all questions and help with any request we had. We stayed for 6 nights at the beginning of September, and we opted for the Cultural Week package. The whole experience exceeded our expectations. As this was a first visit to Prague, the package was an excellent way to get a real feel for the city, and it was wonderful to go on the 2 included excursions. We absolutely fell in love with the hotel for its charm, location, and superior customer service. We definitely plan on returning to Romantik Hotel U Raka for another wonderful vacation. Again, this place is fabulous.

I could not be more pleased with our stay at Hotel U Raka. This tiny, farmhouse-styled inn is over two centuries old but was rebuilt and modernized in the 1990s with great attention to detail both inside and out. Our air-conditioned room was spacious, charming and had a very modern bathroom. The extremely quiet space overlooked both the hotel's beautiful garden and the garden of the home adjacent to the inn. I enjoyed looking into the neighbor's yard and seeing a slice of Prague home life - which including learning the name of the dog!
The hotel's staff is extremely friendly and courteous. Teresa picked us up from the airport and pointed out various sites on our way to the hotel. When we left Prague, she drove us to the train station and insisted on helping us bring our luggage into the station. She also usually served us breakfast and when I complimented the delicious croissants provided at breakfast, she made a point of having warm croissants for us every following day. After long days of sightseeing, we frequently had a light dinner - prepared by Teresa - in the hotel's lush, quiet garden rather than going out again to dinner. She truly did so much to make our stay enjoyable. Maria and hotel owner Mr. Paul were also very helpful and friendly.
The breakfast buffet of cereals, fruits, wonderful breads, meats, cheeses,
jams and various drinks was extremely varied for such a small inn. The staff also happily cooked a variety of egg dishes for us.
Perhaps the hotel's only drawback can also be viewed as a plus. While the inn is located in a very quiet area a short walk from the castle and not far from the Mala Strana, it is about a 20 to 30 minute downhill walk to the old town. If the walk is too much, a convenient tram that is less than a five minute walk from U Raka will whisk you there in under ten minutes. After the crowds and noise of the old town, my husband and I were happy to return to the peace and quiet of Hotel U Raka. and its lovely garden. I hope I can return to this exceptional inn.

We so enjoyed our 4 night stay at the U Raka. All the staff were helpful and pleasant, and most spoke English. The room was large by European standards, beautifully decorated, with a comfortable bed and modern bathroom.
Breakfast was buffet style, although you could order eggs, etc. for an extra charge. The pastries were nice, there was always fresh fruit, plenty of coffee and warm rolls, cheese, meats and jams.
The location felt isolated and quiet, but in reality was just about perfect for seeing all of Prague. I would not only stay there again, but would arrange my travel dates to do it.

We had a fantastic stay at U Raka. The staff is friendly, amazingly helpful, and courteous. The hotel location was ideal. We each had our own room and the area was quiet and secure. The included breakfast was exceptional and the cafe menu offered fresh food and was excellent. The cafe setting was cozy and the patio was beautifully landscaped. We stayed in Prague for 5 days and returning to the hotel in the evening was a perfect ending to the day.

My wife and I stayed at U Raka in April. It was a wonderful place in a great location. If you are looking for a place to stay in Prague that is centrally located, close to public transportation to get around the city, and in a quiet section of the town, this is the place. My wife and I also thank all members of the staff for all of their help and assistance. They were all wonderful and made this a truly exceptional stay both at the hotel and in Prague. I would recommend U Raka to anyone that was going to stay in Prague. We could not have stayed at a better place.

Hidden in a peaceful corner of Hradcany is this gem of a hotel, small and family run by Mr Paul and his daughters. We spent four days there and it is a delight. Rebuilt completely some 20 years ago, it is a brilliant use of space. Our room was spacious, with a very comfortable bed and roomy bathroom, well equipped and supplied. An imaginative garden area provides plenty of space to sit peacefully. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and a small cafe operates between 1pm and 6 for snacks - though whoever is at the desk will bring drinks at any time.
A walk to the Charles Bridge takes about 15 minutes, to the Castle about 10. We fully utilised the tram no 22, up a few steps from the U Raka, and very frequent, going down to the River and close to the Old Town. The tram/metro system is cheap - about GBP3 for 24 hours full travel.
U Raka will organise a car service to and from the airport for a reasonable price. They can also organise taxis for you - avoiding the likelihood of overcharging from street taxis.
Breakfast is superb. A good array of cereals, fruits and cold cuts, plus eggs made freshly to order and a glass of sparkling wine if you wish.
This was a great choice (thanks to Trip Advisor) and highly recommended
