Our four nights in Prague were spent at the wonderful Romantik U Raka not far from the Palace atop the hill. A very small hotel – more an inn, really. Our dormer room (#4) was spacious with a super-comfortable king-size bed. There were TWO luggage racks – something we rarely see anywhere in the world, strange as it may seem. 2 guests = 2 luggage racks. Simple, right? 2 pairs of slippers. 2 bath robes. The bathroom was very large with a very large sink with plenty of places to lay out toiletries. They have a magnifying mirror – a good sign. A tired red carpet is the only negative. Your room will be so quiet you’ll sleep with all your windows wide open (weather permitting) and wake to the sound of birdsong. Breakfast is fine, with good yogurt, muesli, fruit, and nicely prepared eggs made to order. The hotel has good wifi, and any tourist information can be easily obtained by the warm staff, especially from Theresa, whose English is impeccable. Two recommendations: the music playlist at breakfast needs some work, since breakfasts to the theme from Exodus or old Olivia Newton-John hits aren’t easy on the ears at that time of day (perhaps some classical guitar?); and a toaster in the dining room would be nice since the jams and spreads are delicious. We’d definitely stay at the Romantik again, far from the madding crowds of this beautiful and very touristy city. Although we tended to walk to and from the hotel to all the sights and the other side of the river, folks should be aware it’s a hike up hill to the hotel. So, if you’re not interested in a lovely walk and burning calories late at night, just hop on the #22 tram from the centre of town to get back to the hotel. Theresa will tell you how to do this. Not difficult at all. You will be assailed by people selling (cheap) tickets to concerts that take place in almost every church in town. Indulge yourself. These start at 6 and end at 7 and cost almost nothing. A wonderful way to start the night pre-dinner sitting in the pews of pretty amazing Baroque spaces with more gilt than you may ever have seen before in your life. Finding good food in Prague is not that easy. Czech cuisine isn’t exactly our cup of tea. Fellow guests discovered an Italian restaurant called De Carli on the other side of the Charles Bridge. Food here was excellent. Don’t expect to eat well in Prague. Pick places carefully. Of all the cities we visited on this trip, the cuisine was the most uninspired here. It got better and better in the 3 other cities. Tipping is 10%. Do try and take a day trip to Czesky Krumlov, a nearby gem of a town. Include the Egon Schiele museum there. A terrific space. In Prague, visit the cloister near the Romantik. The Loreto museum across the way houses some treasures that are worth seeing. Discover Moser, the glass shop, in the square with the Astrological clock. Definitely an eye-opener. The Jewish quarter is lovely, too. Visit the famous graveyard there. Long lines will greet you but it is definitely worth the visit. This part of town is also packed with restaurants that you might like to try. Everything is close in Prague. We walked everywhere.

We recently spent 4 lovely nights at this bed & breakfast with Mr. Alexande Paul, family & staff, to celebrate our 10 year anniversary. It was very easy to reserve via email, and our package included some fantastic extras- pick up & drop off at airport, welcome bottle of champagne in the courtyard, and a lovely cheese/bread/wine tray one evening.
The staff is very friendly, which I found quite unusual in the city of Prague. They truly wish you have the best experience possible. I would recommend Mr. Paul opens more of these - he does a 5 🌟 job.
Location is a short 5 minute walk downhill to the castle - in the picturesque Hradcany area. Free tram at top of stairs (very steep, may be a problem for those that can't walk or climb easily), that was very convenient, thought we never used it - we walked everywhere. This part of town is so quiet and peaceful. If you want lots of action and night life- this is not the place for you.
At night, one can't easily access restaurants or pubs without some transport, but the U Raka would gladly cook dinner with some notice. During our stay, we ate dinner while on other side of bridge (where it is very busy and crowded), and then walked back. Such a nice transition from the crowds to the quiet.
The hotel itself is EXACTLY like the pictures, or I would attach my own. Beautiful, charming, and spotless. We stayed in Room 5, and it was quite large, with a fantastic bathroom with a nice shower & huge tub. There is A/C, a desk, free wi-fi, and great water pressure/hot water. Breakfast was great - all the normal European items, but the eggs were the great! All the other breakfast food was fresh - and great strong hot coffee.
This had the most comfy bed I have slept in years.
If there was anything I could add to this lovely place, I cannot think of it - book this place, you will not regret it!!!

I have stayed in many places around the world, but Romantik U Raka is my favourite one. We booked the Romantic Package and were taken care of by Mr. Paul and his family for one week. To say the hotel is charming is an understatement. It has charm and character beyond expectations. Mr. Paul has restored this place lovingly and it shows in the fine details all around the property. I had never been to Prague and wasn't sure what the best area was to stay, but I think this is it. It's very safe and clean, close to the Castle and other hotspots, and is an easy walk down to Charles Bridge/Old Town etc. through the beautiful Mala Strana district. I was so glad that we didn't stay elsewhere and was glad to return to my quiet oasis each night. If you're tired and don't feel like walking back uphill, it's an easy tram ride on the 22. We found great restaurants in the nearby area. This is the place we dream of returning to someday.

The location was wonderful - away from the crowds but easy access to all of the sites. The rooms were very pretty and clean and a step into the past with all of the modern conveniences. The staff were very helpful and thankfully all spoke some English. We would stay here again. Our young adult children loved the attached "Snack Cafe".

What a special place this hotel is! The location is perfect for someone who wants to be away from the tourist filled streets of Prague, yet convenient to all of the attractions. We walked everywhere, but there was also easy access to public transportation. The rooms were lovely with luxurious, modern bathrooms. We enjoyed returning from a busy day of sightseeing and relaxing in their lovely garden. Parking was in a convenient secure lot. This is a charming, upscale hotel, and although there is no full service restaurant (but they do have a cozy cafe for light lunches and early dinners), there were a number of nice restaurants within easy walking distance. Breakfast was delicious and served each morning in their lovely breakfast room. Staying here made our first visit to Prague very special and we would stay here again without hesitation.

This hotel is a treasure - a beautiful property tucked away near the Prague castle. Our room was perfect - large with lovely furnishings - and complete with a fireplace and a well! The winter garden added to our delight. Breakfast was delicious, the service was excellent and staff were extremely helpful. The owner went above and beyond the expected in helping us navigate the local roads. While it's a bit of a hike from the Charles Bridge. it well worth it! This is an excellent choice if you are seeking a truly unique experience during your trip to Prague.

a unique small inn with first class service and accommodations. We stayed in thesuperior suite, which was very spacious and had a lovely winter garden room that opened onto a semi-private patio area. Jitka was extremely helpful. Location is in a quiet residential area near the castle but within walking distance to old town, Charles bridge, etc. if you dont mind the exercise, and near the tram line if you don't want to walk. Note: tram stop is up a formidable set of stone stairs- if you have trouble with stairs you can go another route, but it will take a bit longer.

If you have any problems with feet or knees, this may not be the place for you, it is up beyond the castle in a gorgeous neighborhood, however to get to the tram requires going up a HUGE stone staircase. You need to take the tram a lot to get to the Old Town and New Town areas. But if that is not a problem, then by all means this is a wonderful, small place, 6 rooms I think. Very nice staff, clean comfortable room, good breakfast, they will make eggs if you like. Also will pick up from airport which is worth the fee.

Having read all the postive reviews, I took the plunge and booked this Hotel for my birthday, staying 3 nights & stayed in room 6 (with real fire place and well!), we have just got back and I can honestly say I had the best birthday ever, which the small charming hotel is mostly responsible for! It truly was amazing and I cannot recommend this rustic hotel enough. The owner Mr Paul collected us from the airport free of charge as it was my birthday and his daughters where very welcoming. Our room was spotless and the bed & pillows were the most comfortable we ever slept in. We had breakfast in our room which was to die for! So in short our superior room was 175 Euro a night this may seem a lot but we where given a 10% discount for paying cash. But my partner and I agree it was worth that and more! So please dont hesitate!! just book this hotel you will not be disappointed and its also ideally located less than 10 mins from the castle.
