Detailed Reviews
Well, what can I say other than it was truly magical - the pictures on the website do not do it justice - we stayed in Room 6 - a truly lovely room with its own winter garden. Mr Paul and his staff, especially Teresa made our stay in Prague a very pleasant one and we were very sad when we had to leave. Plenty of good restaurants around and all within walking distance. We will definitely go back.

You take street car No. 22 to station Brusnice, walk down about 50 steps and you are in a fairy-tale world of Prague. No wonder - this part is called "The New World". Small houses were built in 14th Century for servants from the nearby Castle. Hotel - actually 6 or 7 luxury and romantic rooms are built around a two-story yard with flowers, fountain and several tables and chairs for afternoon coffee and pastries. You do not have to stay in the hotel and still enjoy hospitality of the staff and excellent appetizers. And when you step outside and walk to left in direction of the Prague Castle, or walk up the hill directly in front of you, you see the most beautiful of the historical 14th Century Prague about which most of the tourists do not know.

Have you dreamed of visiting the Bohemian countryside, but don’t think you will have the time? Fear not, with a bit of luck and advance planning (as reservations are hard to come by), you can stay at an 18th century Bohemian Chalupa (country house) located just a ten-minute walk from Prague Castle. Nestled at the end of Nový Svět, quite possibly the most picturesque cobblestoned street in all of Prague, and just steps from the Loreto Church and Foreign Ministry, this is a romantic and idyllic place to spend a few days. The rustic interior features exposed-beamed ceilings, stone and brick walls, dark furnishings, and even traditional Blue Onion china – all highly representative of what a true Czech country house looks like. The only difference is that here you will also find all the modern conveniences you might wish for, including air conditioning (which surprised me). The proprietor, Mr. Alexander Paul, is a renaissance man who is often on hand not only to assist you but also to share stories and recommendations over a nice glass of brandy in their charming café. Mr. Paul purchased the house in 1987 (two years before the fall of Czech communism), for a sum equivalent to €3000 – a huge money back then, but I’m sure you’ll agree he made a brilliant real estate investment. Design 18th-century Bohemian Chalupa (country house), complete with upscale rustic interior details.

Eating In
Breakfast: 07:30–10:00 Buffet, plus a limited à la carte menu. Try the scrambled eggs with onions, they were delicious! In the summer, breakfast is served in the garden.
Café: 14:00–19:00 The café, which features a wood burning fireplace, is cozy and delicious. I recommend trying the Apple Strudel with Vanilla Sauce, which is made daily by the owner’s wife.
Table Request: Ask to sit by the window, so you can look up the cobblestone street at the wonderfully colorful medieval stucco homes.
Room Service: 7:30–10:00 / 12:00–18:00
Staying In
In the spring and summer months, enjoy the garden. It is a tranquil escape from the city, with a great view of the foreign ministry building from the upper terrace. If you want to stay in and watch a movie in bed, be prepared to supply your own DVD; they can be purchased at local tabáks (newspaper shop) for approximately 79 CZK.
Also Worth Noting
Rooms do not include robes; if that’s a sticking point, you’ll need to pack your own.
Fun & Fabulous Feature
How about a ride around Prague in a 1931 Model A Ford (imported from Ohio), with Mr. Paul as your driver and guide? During the months on April through October, this can be arranged for 2000 CZK per hour.
You can also arrange a barbeque in the garden for up to eight people (one day advance notice required). I cannot think of a more fabulous place in Prague to enjoy a traditional Czech barbeque, including such classics as sausages, krkovička (marinated grilled pork), toasted Czech bread and, of course, beer.

We were sightseeing in the area and came across this cute looking place. We rang the door bell and were let in the backyard/terrace of the hotel. They offer a few warm and cold light lunches - exactly what we've been looking for. My friends had the hawaiian sandwich with salad and I had the farmer platter (hashbrowns, cheese, cold cuts, paté incl. a beer). All very good. They except EUR as well and the menu was in ENG. The service was good and fast.

We have found the hotel’s name after reading a local article about the ‘Best 10 hotels in Prague’. The description caught us immediately, since my wife and I, are always looking for the quiet and pastoral places, even in the hectic cities.
The hotel is located 5 minutes walking from the Loreto and 5 minutes walking in another direction to the Prague castle (Pražský hrad). In 3 minutes walking you can reach two tram stations that can take you downtown to the old city. The hotel is located in the most quiet, pastoral and peaceful place that you can imagine.
The hotel has only 6 rooms. We got room number 5 that is defined as Superior Romantic Double Room. The room was huge with a very big bathroom. Everything was very well decorated with good taste and finesse. The breakfast that was served, was very good with fresh breads, cold meats, cheeses, vegetables, etc.
We were highly pleased from the hospitality of the small team of the hotel, especially from the lovely Jitka that her willingness to help and enthusiasm was truly inspirational. Mr. Paul, the owner, was very welcoming and helpful at all times.
As far as I am concerned this is the place that I’ll choose in my next stay in Prague whenever it will be.

This beautiful, small (six rooms) hotel is a treasure! The attention to detail is just amazing! Lighting is just great, a rarity in European hotels, and the well appointed bathroom is lovely. At every turn, artifacts collected by the owner offer a feast for the eyes. As an interior designer and artist, I was blown away! The terrace is as charming as any I've seen, and the "snack shop" is truly unique. We would never consider staying any other place in Prague! Kudos to Mr. Paul, the owner and creator of this wonderful hotel! Also, thank you Jitka, for the wonderful, caring service you provided; you made our stay even more special.

Hello,
my name is Gabriela Roth and I am a travel agency owner from Germany. I stayed by U raka between February 21st and February 25th this year. Few days prior my trip to Prague I have visited TripAdvisor web page among others to find out more about the hotel, highly reccommended to me by friends, who spent their honeymoon there few years ago. Between many positive remarks about the hotel I have found the story of one of the clients from UK who stayed by U raka through the Valentines Day. Bit scary one in some ways...
Few days after I got back home I would like to share my opinions. I have to agree, the location is perfect – absolutely romantic place. The hotel is one of the few looking the same way on its web page as in reallity. Cosy, clean and beautifully eqquipped rooms – we stayed on Superior room on the first floor – shower and bath included – viewing the hotel garden, which is a masterpiece – shame the weather was not inclinable yet.
All the staff we met during our stay (hotel driver, receptionists, snack bar personnell, and the owner himself) were very polite, kind and complaisant.
The only small minus I would like to mention is, that there is no restaurant directly in the hotel and the snack bar closes at 7 pm. But on the other hand – if you travel you should see more than your hotel only. The receptionist reccommended us for dinner restaurant called Lvi Dvur, which is about 10 minutes far walking from the hotel. She booked the places and arranged everything - very helpfull indeed. Even it takes some short time to get there, it is really nice walk through the impressive Prague Castle area. Food was delicious as well as the professional service.
So my conclusion is - U raka hotel is the trully romantic and absolutelly special place to stay in Prague. I do not hasitate to reccommend it to my family or friends.

We stayed in this hotel for a suprise for my dad's 60th birthday last September (so a belated review). We booked directly with the hotel and they were polite and efficient in their responses.
We booked the transfer from the airport and on arrival the driver was waiting for us. The transfer vehicle was a big people carrier - so loads of space - and the transfer took about 30 minutes. I don't think normally it would be this quick, but the driver seemed to think he was on a race track and some of the journey was spent with our eyes closed!
We booked a luxury room for ourselves and the superior luxury room for my parents (although once we saw it we soon got a major case of room envy!!) The superior luxury room was just beautiful. Big living area, massive open fireplace and sweet private garden. Well worth the extra money (and to see the look on my dad's face)!
The hotel is situation in a quiet location on a cobbled street, just a short uphill walk from a tram stop and about 20 minutes walk to the Castle. The trams are quick and efficient for getting you into town however if you don't mind the walk I would recommend this. The castle district is so pretty it would be a shame to miss it.
Breakfast was OK but nothing special - you do have to pay extra for cooked items which did niggle us a bit - the hotel isn't cheap and we thought this was a bit cheeky.
Service was generally good apart from one thing - our room had mosquitos and I found myself bitten quite a few times. On asking the lady on reception if she knew anywhere I could buy a mosquito repellant she simply said something along the lines of "We don't have mosquitos here". Made me feel just a little bit stupid - yes I had put two and two together and presumed that a high pitched noise buzzy insect + bites = mosquitos but I would have appreciated that she gave me a little guidance rather than dismissing what I said.
Loved Prague even more than we thought we would. We went to the Opera and had a box (an absolute bargin and highly recommended - pretend you are royalty for a fraction of the price!) and had dinner at Kampa Park (beautiful setting overlooking Charles Bridge and prices to match). Would highly recommend a tour in a vintage car - not only do you get to see great sights but the drivers are local experts and can tell you lots of interesting facts about the area's communist past which is fascinating.
Overall if you were planning on paying a little extra would recommend this small, sweet place over a large 5* hotel any day of the week.

+1
Very cosy hotel in rustic style, in a silent place. The friendly and kind personnel. We chose Superior Luxury room with open fireplace and wintergarden. In a room also was the deep well with illumination. The Japanese garden - is not indisputable. Not absolutely corresponds to a rustic atmosphere. Nevertheless we have received a lot of pleasure, especially in the evenings with a burning fireplace.
