I researched many Prague hotels on the Internet, before finally selecting U Raka as it looked special. Everything about U Raka exceeded our expectations. The owner Alexander Paul and his daughter Annetta are justifiably proud of what they have created at U Raka and have a great team of staff. They made our stay a delight and looked after us with a professional attention that you would expect at a 5 star hotel, but a friendliness that you only find where the owners manage the hotel. The location is a haven of peace and quiet in the picturesque 17th cen Novy Svet which the guide books describe as 'the best street for romantic strolling'. This is right next to Prague Castle and the Loreto, so long as you don’t mind a walk to the Charles Bridge and Prague Centre which we loved as it was through the historical heart of Prague (the walk back is up the steep hill on which Prague Castle and St Vitus Cathedral stand dominating the skyline - although you can take the frequent trams for a 4 minute ride). Everything about the U Raka and our room was meticulously designed and appointed as you can see from our photos - we had the room with our own private garden.

I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Prague.

My husband and I traveled to Prague in October 2005, we stayed at the U Hada and loved it. With only 8 rooms and in a fairly central but secluded location - this is the place if you are looking for something unique! We would absolutely return again!

This was just perfect!

My fiancée and I stayed in this wonderful place some years ago but it was the most lovely experience. The small hotel was so perfect wiht garden, flowers, comlimentary champagne and so much more!

We just loved our stay and highly recommend it!

What a great experience. We had just completed a river cruise. Arriving at U Raka was heaven. The accommodations were beautiful, loved the garden/patio. The staff was very attentive and the room was very clean. It is located in the Castle district in a quiet area a few blocks away. The tram is a few blocks away to take you into the "city". Very convenient. Highly recommend......

We loved our stay in this quaint hotel nestled in a beautiful neighborhood away from the throngs of tourists, but an easy walk to all of the sites. The rooms were beautiful and comfortable. The staff was helpful and friendly especially Teresa who went above and beyond what any guests could expect, from helping us with our lost luggage to making an early breakfast for us the day we left. I highly recommend staying at Romantik Hotel U Raka when in Prague.

First, I would stay here again. We had a wonderful visit.

Second, as you leave the hotel there is a long staircase. Go straight up the stairs and the views are great. Better yet, the 22 Tram stop is a block away.

This was our little oasis after being out in the crowds all day long. If you are looking for a hip trendy place with a high energy vibe and lot of people, move along. However, if you want peace, quiet, an attentive staff in a fun setting stay here.

Our room was large and comfortable with a view of the garden. I really don't think there is a bad room in the place based upon what others said about there room.

Breakfast was fine and the afternoon welcome hour was quite relaxing in the courtyard.

Our guide and driver all said what a great location. You are close to the monetary, walking distance or a short hop on the tram to the castle, and can be downtown quickly via tram or metro connection.

U Raka is a small 'cottage' styled hotel on the very edge of Prague's historic old town, close to Prague Castle. The staff were extremely welcoming and helpful, providing airport transfers at a reasonable additional cost. We were there for 4 nights.

The entrance courtyard and garden are particularly charming and interesting, crammed with carefully collected and arranged millstones, stone water troughs, terracotta pots and pithoi.

Room 1 was delightful, a courtyard room, arranged on two floors with its own entrance 'hall', bathroom, wardrobe and desk at ground level, and bed and TV on the upper level. The bathroom was modern and well equipped with a good shower. The bed was very comfortable. We could have done with extra pillows, as well as proper top sheets and blankets when we found the duvet too hot (I'm sure these would have been provided if we'd asked but we never got round to asking). Everything was very clean and tidy.

Breakfast was good and I appreciated being able to order fresh orange juice though this was an additional cost. As well as the usual fare of cereal, yoghurt, bread, rolls, sliced cheese and cold cuts, we could also order eggs and small frankfurters at no extra cost. We would like to suggest one improvement: adding two or three more options to the freshly prepared choices eg porridge, pancakes and smoked salmon.

I always review the quietness of hotels in some detail since my husband and I are both sensitive to noise. U Raka is in a peaceful residential neighbourhood. On one of our four mornings, we were awoken very early (about 6am) by car doors and voices in the little cul de sac road alongside the hotel (a group of people setting off in a car). However, this was an isolated incident; every other night and early morning was very quiet. Now and then, we could hear voices from the room adjacent to ours but it was never bothersome. On the other side of Room 1, there is a little kitchen and 'cafe' run by the hotel; this was never noisy. We appreciated the hotel policy of requesting quiet between the hours of 10pm and 6am.

All in all, this was a very pleasant hotel with a unique ambience. It is carefully and thoughtfully run and we would like to return.

We had a wonderful time in the U Raka. Mr. Paul an his colleges helped us to find excellent places (restaurants, cultural events). The atmosphere and the personal in the U Raka are very kind, nice and sympathic. Next time in Praha we will be guests of the Hotel U Raka again!

Well, what can I say other than it was truly magical - the pictures on the website do not do it justice - we stayed in Room 6 - a truly lovely room with its own winter garden. Mr Paul and his staff, especially Teresa made our stay in Prague a very pleasant one and we were very sad when we had to leave. Plenty of good restaurants around and all within walking distance. We will definitely go back.

You take street car No. 22 to station Brusnice, walk down about 50 steps and you are in a fairy-tale world of Prague. No wonder - this part is called "The New World". Small houses were built in 14th Century for servants from the nearby Castle. Hotel - actually 6 or 7 luxury and romantic rooms are built around a two-story yard with flowers, fountain and several tables and chairs for afternoon coffee and pastries. You do not have to stay in the hotel and still enjoy hospitality of the staff and excellent appetizers. And when you step outside and walk to left in direction of the Prague Castle, or walk up the hill directly in front of you, you see the most beautiful of the historical 14th Century Prague about which most of the tourists do not know.
