Whenever I am setting for a long journey I like to start my vacation near the Prague airport, in the quarter named Ruzyne, at the family BandB . From my point of view this Wind Mill is the perfect start point for any future advanture. They offer comfortable beds, great breakfast and an excellent connection to the terminals to catch the flight. Looking forward to the next meeting in near future.

The pension is clean (the sweet smell of sun-dried linens) and comfortable. But it is the hosts who bring us back every time we visit Prague. They give good advice for the new visitor to Prague and provide travel conveniences, such as bus and metro tickets that can be purchased (and wi-fi). When my passport was stolen on the way out of town a year ago (after I had checkd out), I called the hosts and they took care of me, helped me find out who to call, provided a phone in a private room for me to take care of my business. This summer when I came with extended family, we arrived at 8 am. Rather than making us wait for an afternoon check-in, they gave us breakfast and our beds were ready for a morning nap. This is my favorite bed-and-breakfast in any country.

Well located Pension 20 min. drive from the city. Ideally accessible by bus and metro
Dear Owner, very helpful. Has all bus times etc. Already ready at check-in. Very thoughtful.
Room is very neat, dated. The beds are very hard, because of this some back problems. Are also more sofa beds.
Breakfast is nicely catered for.

I was with my boyfriend in the Czech Republic and needed after a while a room in a hotel because of an argument with him. The taxi driver helped me to find an accommodation for me. I was in a bad mood understandably.. so after letting me in, the man at the desk started to ask me questions, where I’m from, If I had a passport with me and why I were so sad and alone in the middle of the night. I explained him that my boyfriend and I had a fight so I needed time for myself. After told him that, he acted crazy! He said GO, just GO before your boyfriend comes here and make problems. Than he kicked me out of the pension in the middle of the night!!! I didn’t told him a bad story about my boyfriend or something else!! I’m a 27 years old women from Switzerland and just needed a place to sleep. I didn’t understand, why he acted like this. he didn’t even called a cab for me. I asked him if he could, so I would go somewhere else. But he did not!!! This is very very sad. I was in a foreign country and alone.
This pension is in the middle of nowhere. I walked hours until I found something. This is the worst experience I ever made. I would never recommend this pension. He had no humanity at all!

Response from Alexander S, Vlastník at Pension Vetrny mlyn
Responded Jul 2, 2016
Dear Ms. Catak - your article is as a matter of fact informing, that we do not allow during deep night problematics persons to be accomodated in our nice pension which is opened since 1992. And - believe ... after I saw your face in the light I told myself "she is probably under influence of alcohol or ... ", therefore was for me necessary to ask "what happend" and after information about your private war with your boyfrend, who is serching you, I was really afraid to give you room in pension full of sleeping clients - half of them with children.. and a w a i t atack of perhaps infuriated "boyfrend". Therefore i send you to the hotel where is reception open for 24 hours. You did not need taxi - this hotel is 40 meters in front of us !! - everybody can verificate it in "google maps". Another hotel - in front of that I saw You by chance next morning, is maximally 500 meters by walk from us. So - no h o u r s walking in the "middle of nowhere". Who knows Prague and more - our beautiful quarter with hotels and pensions - cannot believe this nonsence. I must declare, that safety of our clients is for us most important - more than money from accomodation of persons, who are for us "potential trouble makers". I am already 66 years old man - unfortunatelly not strong enought to be eventual arbitrator between some young private fighters any more. Sorry - Alexander - owner of pension.

Let me point outright that this is a pension (guesthouse) and not a hotel, and the rating is accordingly. If you're looking for a "regular" hotel in the center of town, this is not for you.
We stayed at the Větrný Mlýn a couple of years ago, and remembered it fondly. So on this trip, needing three rooms, decided to return.
Rooms are clean and comfortable.
Free WiFi.
Good breakfast, and Alex and Michael are very generous with constant refills.
Out of town, but very convenient public transportation, and tickets can be purchased at no additional cost at the pension.
But most important were our hosts - Alex and Michael. They speak several languages fluently (one of our party was a Russian speaker), and they make you feel like part of the family. Their recommendations are excellent - where to eat, how to travel, etc. When my daughter-in-law felt ill, they organized a tea pot and honey at night to take to her room. Our return flight was very early in the morning, and Alex got us a large taxi to pick us up (and told us that if for some reason the taxi doesn't show we should wake him up and he'll take us!!), and they left us a packed breakfast to take with us.
Stayed for four nights, and would have gladly stayed longer.
Many, many thanks to Alex and Michael for a thoroughly enjoyable stay.
Will definitely return on our next trip.

This is my favorite place to stay in Europe! I turned down free accommodations at a friend’s in Prague to return to this pension—it is so comfortably inviting. The hosts are welcoming and helpful; they make their guests feel like family and speak an array of languages: English, Czech, German and Russian. They serve an abundant breakfast of fresh bread rolls, cheese and meat tray, eggs, yogurt, chocolate bars, coffee/tea and juice and frequently invite guests to “pack a lunch” with the leftovers. The rooms always look freshly white-washed and smell so fresh and clean. We brought the family and stayed here when we landed in Prague in June (2013) and then, after traveling in Moravia, returned in July. When my ten-year old granddaughter entered the room, she exclaimed, “it’s good to be back here—it feels like coming home!”
The tram system was disrupted in July while construction was ongoing to extend the subway system which caused the trip into central Prague to take a little longer. When construction is complete, the location should be more convenient to town; it is quite convenient to the airport. And it has ample parking for those with cars.

Vetrny mlyn is in an outer suburb of Prague but on good public transport routes into city taking 45 minutes on bus, tram and underground to main tourist areas. Alex, the host, is very helpful to foreign visitors providing good info and providing tickets for the public transport into &around Prague and referring us to good local pub for economical meals.

Note website: http://www.penzionmlynpraha.cz/en/accommodation-prague/ refers to the correct location. The alternate entry mentioned in Tripadvisor referring to Rakovnik has nothing to do with this pension.
Certainly this meets 3 star standards as rooms are well equipped and comfortable.

I feel it is very important not to be in hurry at the beginning of journey. My best solution to lower the stress either on the start of your holiday or after coming back is to overnight at the Wind Mill Bed and Breakfast. This time I enjoyed the stay at this cosy place at the end of my holiday after a really long flight. Many thanks for the peace and comfort. I do hope to see you again soon.

All my holiday adventures start in this place. The owners are very kind and we always chat about travelling and places abroad. This accommodation is comfortable and one is sure to get to the airport in time. I like to go for a walk strolling around the Hvezda (Star) summer residence in the game park. You will like their breakfast in the morning too.
