I got this hotel as part of a wowcher deal, and as a friend had to pull out of the trip I went solo. The staff were very helpful as I arrived just in time for check in late at night. They explained where I would be staying and said that someone would be on the desk if I need anything. I went up to the room, although the beds were single bed they were together as a double which is no issue whatsoever. A large sofa and table and 2 chairs. It was clean and big but still cosy. The bathroom had a shower which worked fine and was easy to control the temperature. Due to it being quite cold as I went out on the first night, the lady on the desk told me that I would need a coat as I only had a jumper but I refused stupidly! At the end of my trip, I had to check out at 11am but my flight was only 9pm, they secured my bags so that I could explore for the day and then even rang a taxi for me when I returned later in the afternoon.
I think the poor reviews regarding staff are because they expect staff to speak perfect English when in fact they try to learn basic English in order to help guests. I’ll be visiting Prague again, and I would stay here again definitely.

Stayed here for four nights as part of a Wowcher deal. We checked in late and were wary of how the gentleman may greet us on reception after reading the reviews in here. There was no need. He asked us for our passports and checked our booking and explained the way to our room. We went out for food and returned after midnight. He was still okay. Room was basic but clean. Clean bedding and towels everyday. Good continental/Czech breakfast every morning and staff were friendly. It was a walk into town but if you like walking it’s not a problem. Booked a three hour sail down the river with dinner through the staff at the hotel not a problem.
It is a basic hotel but historic and it was more than adequate for our stay and the time we spent there. Would we stay here again? Definitely.

Amazing time in prague, stayed with 16 friends here.
Hotel is approx 15 min walk from old town and wenceslas square.rooms are bit dated but warm and beds are comfy.
Maids come daily and provide clean towels, shower was nice and hot.We stayed on 5th floor but there is a lift .
Breakfast is continental style toast, cereal scrambled egg, ham, cheese not a lot of choice.
Staff were friendly enough and helpful at breakfast time. It was good for a budget break for a group.

Being from Scotland, we’ve stayed in our fair share of dives, but this beats them all. We were greeted by the grumpiest man in the world, who called us idiots in Czech (which we could understand) and threw our passports at us like he was partaking in the Javelin at Beijing 2008. After being made to feel like we’d just urinated in this man’s pint of Tennents, we made our way to our room. It was dire.

We swiftly abandoned our room key with Ebenezer Scrooge’s Czech Uncle and went to find another hotel. If you’re actually looking for a nice place to stay- try EA hotel New Town, which cost THE SAME PRICE but actually wishes to have guests.

I imagine you’re reading this review before going to Prague and thinking ‘surely the Ostas hotel can’t be that bad’, but alas, it can. There are a few on this website who will tell you that this hotel is fine... Please don’t listen to these people, they have lower standards than Katie Price.

Safe yourself the disappointment, and constant feeling that you’ve caught a disease, and stay somewhere else. If you even think about booking this hotel as a surprise for your partner, they will divorce you.

A good location of the hotel, nearby is non-stop minimarket where there is an ATM. Bus stop in a couple of minutes walk from the hotel. The employees are very polite and kind. Always ready to help. We were allowed to stay for free until six in the evening on the issue on the day of eviction, as we had a flight late in the evening. A kettle, tea cups and an iron can be taken at a reception, you can also ask for warm blankets.

Old man at reception was not making any effort to sound friendly or welcoming: no smile, spoke bluntly.
Room in real does not look anything close than photos published in Booking.com:
No swan towels on the bed, no brightness.
Double beds leave a HUGE uncomfortable gap in the middle (see pic).
Except TV set, every piece of furniture in my room was old & worn out:
Telephone was repaired with tape !
Carpeting is not meant for people to walk barefeet on it & it was stained.
In the bathroom, shower pipe was half torn & only left with rubber (see pic). Bad smell around the throne. & Flush didn't work properly !
Hotel needs a serious renovation & improvement work.
Lift has no security door ! Very dangerous & not even sure it fits EU norms.

Only good point: Breakfast was OK, though.

I did not liked this hotel at all!
The location was the only plus, as it is very close to the main train station (850m) and 2 bus stations away from the Florenc metro station (where you can find connections to the airport).
As for the minuses - old furniture, tired looking everything, minuscule room/bath, disappointing breakfast, ants in the breakfast room and all around the water/juice dispenser, crappy coffee.
Due to all above and the fact that one afternoon i found the door to my room to be left unlocked by the cleaning staff, i consider that it's completely not worth the money!

I had emailed earlier in the day (using Google translate) to inform them that I would be arriving late for my booking and received back a reply that said that was fine. Arrived at the hotel at about 1.30 am and spent @ fruitless minute ringing the night bell before anyone arrived. He was the most unnecessarily rude and surly person that I have ever met in a role involving customer service. Firstly he went into a meltdown when I showed him my electronic room confirmation on my phone and just started shaking his head and shouting "email email" whilst stabbing his finger at a printed hotel email address. When I wrote down the question "what do you wish me to email?" in Google translate to get it into Czech, he just refused to look at the phone and purposely ignored me. Eventually I figured that he wanted me to send my electronic confirmation to him via email - which I did. So eventually I got a room key - but with his lack of communication and lack of desire to read any translation I guess it would have been two much to expect to get any directions to the room. After 10 or so minutes of fruitlessly searching around I returned to reception to ask whereupon I received the mother of all Basil Fawlty rants and he grabbed my key off me and marched me up to a room that was hidden in a corridor behind an unmarked solid door (it looked like a store cupboard). The room itself was pretty spartan and unremarkable as was the bathroom. The included breakfast the next day was also spartan and unremarkable. Just spend a bit more money and go somewhere that understands that good customer service costs little but will profit the business immensely. Without the rants they probably would have got 4 stars from me as I paid a very competitive price through Trivago. As it was the rants trumped any goodwill I had.

Jsem e-mailem dříve v průběhu dne (pomocí Google překladače), aby je informoval, že bych měla dorazit pozdě na rezervaci a získal zpět odpověď, která říkala, že je v pořádku. Přijeli do hotelu asi v 1.30 hodin a strávil @ neplodné minutu zvonění noční zvonek před příchodem kdokoli.

That stay in the hotel in Prague was disgusting! To begin with the receptionist (an old man) was rude to us, demanding to give a vaucher, even we had totally payed our stay and had electronic confirmation. In the hotel there is no luggage storage, you should gove your bags to the man and he put them in the hall in front of him. When you want to go out you should give your key to the receptionist. We didn't know that and took a key without an enormous key ring, we left it in the room, hang a sign "do not disturb" but returning back after walking around the town, the receptionist handed in the key WITH the key ring. Someone from the staff was in our room, walked around looking for the key ring, took it and didn't switch the light off. Plus there is no fan, shower cabin is without floor covering, you should stay barefoot on glazed tile with mould. The furniture is old and shabby. Defenetly won't ever return back there!

Hotel is located in dirty part of Prague, building of the hotel looks dirty, equipment is old. We spent there one night and it was really enough. Staff looked disgusted with our visit.

I can't recommend this hotel.

ok, mec.
