What can I say...we spent five days in Prague during a very rainy period, when a national state of emergency was declared half way through our holiday, the metro was partially closed, and some poor people got their homes and businesses flooded out. Having the A.V. Pension Praha as our warm, dry base, with plentiful umbrellas to borrow was wonderful. I would stay there again.

I stayed here with my husband and two others for five nights. Although our arrival in heavy rain was a little frustrating (there was no rush to open the door to us for what felt like several minutes despite the person being well aware we were standing there), our subsequent contact with a different member staff for the next five days was very pleasant, warm, welcoming and friendly and well made up for it. We loved the dog (Adam) who appeared from time to time and gave the odd woof.

Two of us had room 4 - an apartment with small kitchenette - and the other two had a standard room. Both ensuite. Our room was spacious and just right. One evening I managed to make dinner (a big salad with potatoes) for the four of us in our room, which worked very well, particularly as we didn't fancy going out in the rain. Albert, the Hypermarket in Chodov Centrum is definitely the place to go for food shopping. Go down the stairs towards the metro and then across and up at the last exit and go in that way. Took me ages to walk round it as it is so big, but got everything I needed for a good meal with wine and beer - five minute walk back to the Pension.

The price of the Pension was very good and although is out of the centre it is very close to the metro. It was lovely and quiet at night so easy to sleep (although I missed having a firm pillow).

The bath we had came with a shower, but you had to sit in the bath to use it - this was fine for me, but if you are not so agile/mobile or prefer a standing shower then room 2 would be better as it had a walk in shower.

We got a bus into town one day to visit a local restaurant which worked well - although I did the research for timetables etc. back home in London. There is free wifi in the pension which was very reliable - but would be even better if there could be a computer perhaps downstairs guests could use.

Breakfast was lovely - always a nice hard boiled egg to have that was not overcooked, different types of rolls each day, fruit, cheese and some meat.

Overall I really enjoyed my stay and would definitely stay here again.

Driving in Prague was a unique experience and I could not have done it without my GPS…especially trying to find Pension Praha. When I did find it, it was on a quiet street and about a five minute walk to the train station. I’m not a stupid person, but I could not find the buzzer for the house at all. So I went into the yard and when the Owner saw me, she looked quite irritated that I didn’t ring the buzzer. She came out the door, huffed to the post where the leaves were blocking the buzzer and showed me. She was then very blunt during the introduction to the house. There are three floors and I was at the very top which was fine. It was attic style so the roof was sloped. I shared a bathroom with the other room but it was vacant for the two nights I was there. Room was a great size, the bathroom was sloped so you couldn’t stand in the tub but the tub was very large so you could have a nice soak! The next morning during breakfast, the lady softened up a bit and actually talked to me. She wasn’t overly welcoming, but not rude either. The breakfast was just like any other in central Europe (buns, meat, cheese, yogurt, fruit) and it was good. The Pension is about a 5 minute walk to the Mall where the train station is and it takes you right downtown. I felt very safe on this walk, even when I did it at midnight. I would stay at this place again.

I have traveled extensively on both business and leisure trips over the years and I have visited Prague often since 1991. When I travel to Prague I always stay at A.V. Pension Praha. This is a lovely pension in a very quiet neighborhood and only a five minute walk to the nearby Chodov Metro Station -- which whisks you into the city centrum in 20 minutes. The house is exceptionally clean and the selection of rooms are very comfortable -- most include a private bath. The garden is especially nice in the summer and autumn -- and there is a very nice wading pool to take a refreshing dip after a long day of walking on the cobblestones in the Old Town, Prague. The buffet breakfast is also very delicious and varied. Jarka and her staff do an excellent job to welcome you and make you feel at home; they assist you with your every need. On this past trip I pulled a back muscle while carrying my luggage through the airport. Jarka arranged a back massage for me just a few blocks away from the pension (which was wonderful!). I highly recommend this charming pension.

They have 2-3 buildings around the main hotel. I was unlucky to have been given a room away from the main block. The room was dirty, linen stinky. Bathroom fixture were not working. Far away from the main town.

Response from AVotava, Owner at A. V. Pension Praha
Responded Feb 2, 2013
Dear traveller, Based on the information you provided in your review, I believe that your review does not relate to our B&B. Firstly; I would like to inform you, that A.V. Pension Praha consists of one and only building. Therefore, where you refer to rooms away from the main block, this cannot be relevant to A.V. Pension Praha. Secondly; I would like to assure you that we are very keen to keep our rooms perfectly clean not only before arrivals of our guests, but also during our guests’ stay. So far, all of our guests explicitly appreciate tidiness of our B&B. Thirdly; our business is only 5 minutes walk to the Chodov shopping centre and the Prague subway system. Therefore; based on all of these evident inconsistencies in your review, we believe that we became victims of regrettable misunderstanding and your review must relate to another business. We kindly ask you to re-check these facts and re-address your review to the place where you have really stayed. Please, let me use this opportunity to invite you to stay in A.V. Pension Praha the next time you visit Prague. I am sure our services will redress your experience of accommodation in Prague. In the hope of fair remedy, Jarka Votava, owner of A. V. Pension Praha

Prague is a very big city with a crowded central core served by a great transportation system, especially the metro. This bed and breakfast is in a perfect location to take advantage of the metro and the local centrum (mall) that surrounds the station. The pension is located on a quiet street with ample parking in a very nice neighborhood. It is a large modern house with large rooms and lots of natural light. The owner and her assistant are really nice and helpful. Breakfasts are good although not at the level of many hotels. The Chodov metro station is a 7-minute walk and another 15 minutes to the center of Prague. The centrum is a modern mall with lots of amenities including a huge supermarket, coffee shops, and good, cheap restaurants. The surrounding area is walkable.

Stayed here in May 2015, I had booked this accommodation months before my actual travel date to ensure I secured a decent place to stay at a reasonable rate. On arrival the building looked quite inviting and travel from the airport only took one hour with the metro station conveniently located.
I was shown to my room by a friendly member of staff and it was then that the disappointment was to begin. I was informed that we could not use the balcony as there were renovations being carried out to the building and instead of the nice garden view I expected I was met by a typical view of a building site.
I complained to the owner about this and asked why I wasn't informed only to be told "sorry there's nothing I can do". Throughout my stay we had to keep the curtains closed in the daytime due to builders on the balcony

The pension is well located if you use the train or by car. Quiet zone. The room was nice, exactly was showed at the picture but we had a little dissapointment about some more extra towels. The owner just gave one more extra set instead of two. The pension was empty and we needed more towels since the floor of the bathroom was sleepery beacuse when you washed your hands the water was going straight to the floor and made a puddle.

B&B run by a nice Czech lady. Comfortable, though small, room. Breakfast was very nice and had a good variety of good food. Location is good - a 5 minute walk to the local "Chodov" station with a 15 minute ride to the city center.

The location near the Chodov mall (with food court) and the Metro made this the ideal location for someone trying to enjoy Prague without spending a fortune and away from the hustle and bustle of a large city. I was uncertain of what to expect, but when I saw all of the plaques from tripadvisor on the hall in the entry way I was immediately at ease. I was not disappointed.

My family and I stayed twice in two weeks. Both times were really pleasant, and we had everything we needed. Everything was very clean, both the room, the toilet, the halls and the dining place. The breakfast all the things you could wish for. The garden was also very pleasant and pretty. I had a dip in the pool before I went to bed, which was clean and a nice temperature. The service was really good and the was very nice room and had everything you needed, even stuff you wouldn't have imagined they had.
There is also a very nice and big shopping mall 5-10 min. walk distance from there.
I can really recommend staying here, which I know I will, if I go to Prague again.
