The Metropolitan Old Town Hotel is celebrated for its distinctive character and historical charm, although there are occasional mentions of noise disturbances and a need for updates. The rooms, praised for their cleanliness and unique appeal, sometimes receive criticism regarding size and dated decor. Despite this, many guests consider the hotel to offer good value.
The central location earns high marks, especially for its closeness to attractions, but noise levels from the surrounding area can be an issue. Service at the hotel stands out positively, with staff members lauded for their professionalism and warmth.

Detailed Reviews
The staff make this place, I booked this hotel for 8 days as it was very close to where I had work.
Arriving during lock down it was a very strange atmosphere as it was eerily quiet for a city so used to hustle and bustle.
Check in was very smooth and an upgraded room much appreciated.
I inquired about dining facilities as I knew restaurants were closed for sit in customers due to Covid and was told they only did breakfast but they would be more than happy to assist in helping order takeaways etc.
Once in my room I realised that the local tv was useless unless you spoke Czech so out popped the laptop.
The wifi in this hotel is exceptional, in all the time I stayed in my room which was quite a lot in lock down I never had the wifi drop out on me even whilst simultaneously listening to heart 80's and watching live sports online.
Breakfast was good although very repetitive and wish they would do alternatives to using pork or ham in the majority of dishes as I eat neither.
In the 8 days I stayed there I never had any complaints and would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay in Prague 1.
The hotels location is perfect and so easy to get to and is perfect for strolling to the major attractions so close by, so consider this when booking your stay.
The Penny Market, like a Co Op or Tesco's express is just around the corner and had everything I needed during my stay it really did feel like home from home.
I started off by saying the staff make this place and that's so true in my experience, my every day contact with them was always as you would expect and want, polite helpful and always with a smile and so eager to help point you in the right direction or give advice.
Check out is normally 11am however my flight was early evening so I asked if I could have a late check out to which they didn't flinch even when I asked for a 5 hour late check out at 4pm!
All in all a very good experience and a hotel I would not think twice about staying in again or recommending.
In fact I may have to go back to Prague in a couple of months and if I do I know where i’ll be staying.
Thank you for making my stay in Prague so enjoyable and your hotel feel home from home :-)

I visited Prague for a holiday in early autumn 2020 and chose to stay close to the Old Town Square. The location of the Metropolitan is perfect for anyone who likes getting around on foot and visiting landmarks. Reaching the Charles Bridge, the Powder Gate or St. Wenceslas Square is easy and quick. There's also a tram stop nearby for those who want to take advantage of the Prague public transport system. In the vicinity you can find a decent selection of eateries and pubs with excellent Czech beer.
The hotel itself was great, providing a comfortable place to rest, clean facilities, and even a complimentary bottle of wine. I couldn't be happier with my choice.

The location is great - you need much about 5 minutes to get to the Old Town Square however the neighbourhood is very quiet for a city centre.
The room was clean and nice. The maid everyday was checking if we need someting more. Every day she supplemented shampoons etc. All the stuff was very polite, nice and competent.
Creating the viewpoint at the rooftop was a great idea, the view is great, additionally on the rooftop we found free lemonade and snacks.
When it comes about the food, the breakfasts was great. Huge variety of couisines, fruits, bread, there was even a chocolate fountaine. All was delicious and fresh.
I really recommend this hotel.

Firstly the location of this hotel is great and we were able to check in when we arrived at 1030. However the rooms are small and I mean small. Our bed was pushed against the wall and we had nowhere to hang our clothes. The bathroom was small and the shower is tiny. It mentions there is an ironing room....there isnt! The ironing room is basically the staff room by reception and the receptionists stand there while you iron. Take a travel iron! The rooftop bar is a table with some squash and water on it. Breakfast was ok, typical continental breakfast buffet but plenty of options. The location though is brilliant and that made up for all the negatives.

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us. On our defense, someone needs to supervise in the ironing room because from our experience some people would set the hotel on fire. Regards Adam Š. Guest relations manager

I stayed in the hotel before and was very satisfied and happy. All was 100%, spear duvets/blanket/pillow even hotel slippers hygienic packed, we eve had a complimentary bottle of wine wine. When we came second time, nothing provided, no spear duvets or blankets,no pillows no slippers. Also no bottle of wine (could live without it,but was disappointing that when you booked second time the service was not as good as the first time. Even found black dust on one of the plugs 😰 didn't look more as I believe I would found more imperfections. Even some of the stuff was a bit grumpy this time Otherwise all was good, breakfast was also very good but ABIT pricy for €15/head. So we got breakfast out much cheaper.

This is a smaller individual type hotel, nothing like a big chain, as such it was cosy, friendly and quirky. We stayed for three nights, bed was sooooo comfy, the bed linen was all very good quality and the shower room was very clean and in good order. The buffet breakfast is great, plenty of choice and volume, staff work hard to keep it tidy, clean and stocked. Reception staff were so lovely and polite, they really were great. Maid service each day.
The only thing is I think we must have had the smallest room in the hotel (Otto Wichterle room) no mirror in the room, only the bathroom, and we had to manoeuvre around each other to get dressed, ok if you are close to your roomy! Warm with opening windows. The front road does get noisy at night so light sleepers should ask for a rear room. Hairdryer in bathroom and although no kettle they will supply if you ask. Perfect location for the old town, literally turn left out of the door, walk in a straight line and in 5 mins you’re in Old Town square. No bar or restaurant in the hotel but plenty nearby.
I would recommend a couple stay for a perfect city break.

We booked a triple room through jet2 on the basis of previous reviews and photos of the hotel/rooms. We were really disappointed with our room, it was down long uneven corridors and round a pokey corner. The room was set up for 2 not 3 and we could see what was going to be the 3rd bed was VERY narrow. There was also no safe in the room. So we left the bags and went to reception to let them know the room needed setting up for 3 and where was the safe. The receptionist was very pleasant and arranged for the room to be made into a triple room and when we asked for a second time where the safe was he just said if there isn’t one we could leave stuff with reception. We ended up taking our passports with us at all times. We really should have returned again to complain that the 3rd bed was not good enough but we didn’t. I can only assume jet2 buy the pokey rooms. I also notice that some people have mentioned free bottles of wine and as we were leaving someone was checking in and received a voucher for a free glass of Prosecco. I assume if you book direct with the hotel you get better perks and better rooms as we didn’t get either of these (not that it mattered).
That said the room was clean to a good standard although on the last morning we found silver fish between the bedroom and bathroom. The bathroom towels were small and a bit crispy and there was only 1 hook in the bathroom, not enough when 3 of you need to dry their towels. The rooms are very warm and you can’t sleep with the window open because of the traffic noise.
The location of the hotel was excellent, less than 10 minutes walk to the old town and 10-15 minutes walk to Wenceslas square. The breakfast was also very good, lots of choice from cereal, yoghurts, sausages, scrambled egg (no bacon! Which didn’t bother us), salads, breads, yummy cakes, fruits, juices, hot coffee so if you didn’t find something to eat…..you must be fussy! The roof bar would have been lovely but although it was apparently open there was no one serving anything.
Would I stay here again. No probably not. Would I come to Prague again? Absolutely yes!!

Reception staff helpful and friendly, good selection at breakfast. We were on the 3rd floor and the rooms were quite small. Was being updated and had to endure the workmen one afternoon right outside our door.
Terrace on the roof gives lovely views, cakes, hot drinks and juice available on the terrace, although the cakes were stale. Make sure you read the leaflet about the products in the room as they are chargeable, and not cheap, the condom did make us chuckle.
Would stay again as easy access to old and new town and in a nice quiet location

No kettle in the room had to ask and milk coffee etc never replenished by staff when servicing our room. Room was extremely small we had to walk concrete steps to get to our room. A small lift in operation which was ancient. No nice gestures at all and nothing complimentary they even charged us for opening a small toothbrush:paste which we presumed were complimentary( not so) .. the breakfast room was a free for all stampede with no social distancing and tables way too close together
No long Mirror in bedroom and certainly not a room you could enjoy coming back to relax in after a long day of walking

Loved the ambience of this rather unique hotel, beginning with its friendly lobby and refreshingly friendly and helpful reception staff. This hotel features quite spacious and clean rooms (each named after famous Europeans), and on top of this is only a 10 min. walk from the heart of the old city.
This hotel is best value for money. Even with an ample budget, this is the hotel for me on my next visit to Prague.
A special thanks to Martina for outstanding friendly customer service that made us all feel so welcome from start to finish.

Book with Uver Airport ,just as you exit Terminal 1.Its around 600 Czh .
If I remember correctly, the airport was about 22 minutes away from the hotel and it was very easy to get there in a taxi
Hi I didn't notice an Iron but reception are really nice and helpful so I'm sure they'll help you.

Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom427 contributions86 helpful votesWe are going to the hotel tomorrow for few days looking forward to it can anyone tell me if there is a hairdryer in the room
Yes, there is a hair dryer but can't recall shampoo. DO NOT stay in the building next door that requires travelling through the hall and then taking another very small elevator, with activation by a metal piece. The locked gate is absolutely a fire hazard to me!! Basically the elevator does not access each floor. You can end up in the parking garage if you take the stairs. Breakfast is quite good with 2 gluten free options!
