We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Prague, though it was very cold. The Metropolitan in the old town was a great location, everywhere was accessible. The hotel was clean and comfortable, the staff were friendly and obliging. However, the housekeeping wasn't the best. Complementary teas, coffees and waters were not replenished and the cups were not cleaned daily. The only negative about the whole stay...

The hotel and rooms were generally clean, very central to the city, hence, easy to get around on foot. Lots of restaurants surrounding the hotel. The amenities do not include breakfast places (open at 8AM which locals go) if you don't specifically ensure you have booked with it. The link on TripAdvisor (https://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g274707-d1202495-Reviews-Metropolitan_Old_Town_Hotel-Prague_Bohemia.html) still shows "Free Breakfast". Upon check in, they asked me if I had specifically booked breakfast and I thought I did since all the hotels we booked on this trip had it included. Since I could not prove that the emails say we had breakfast, they were going to charge us 15 Euros pp (2 of us) for the duration of our stay, so I declined. We decided to fend for ourselves. For having booked early, we did get a fair price for the room (~$62 per day). Having said that, the hotel is made up of 3 old buildings connected together and it is a maze! If you have a lot of luggage, there is no easy way to get luggage which for us, was about about <10 min walk around interconnecting hallways to get to our room. There are only two elevators we saw -the main one which can take people and suitcases, but you must climb two short stairs to the elevator, then when we reached our floor, climbed down 2 more stairs to get to the room. The second elevator is not in the main building, and you have to ask where it is and it can only take 2 people at a time. It shortened our walk by half. The rooms have NO phones, there is no PA system that we could see to contact the desk/us or anyone outside in case of emergencies. This is a definitely safety issue which I mentioned to the front desk. I was told that due to the age of the building, it was difficult to wire the building with phones. I guess they never heard of wireless technology. Also, it is important to note, they do have a very small flatscreen TV, there is not a single English Channel or no news channels to speak of to know what is going on in the world. We stayed abreast of news on our mobile devices. An slight inconvenience is the lack of places to put shampoos, loofas, soaps and such in the shower stall. All of these went to the floor, but like I said it was clean. No AC in the room but it is heated and has large windows to cool the room and we were there during a cooler month. Overall – I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone who has any physical limitations. My husband and I are senior citizens but thankfully still quite mobile, so we managed.

Amazing hotel, fab location. Loved the breakfast. Few free perks like mulled wine on an afternoon. Only thing was the roof top terrace was closed due to.the season which was a disappointment. But definitely one to stay again in future.
