U Mecenase – a family residence and restaurant is located at the House of the Golden Lion on Prague’s most picturesque tourist route known as the Royal Walk where coronation pageants paraded for centuries. There is hardly a better place to start exploring the historic centre of Prague than Lesser Town Square, the main square of the Lesser Town. The House of the Golden Lion, dating back to 1608, is built on top of gothic cellars and is the only remaining building with a renaissance core on the Lesser Town Square. A cosy family residence is hidden within the historic walls, with 8 brand new apartments and a newly refurbished restaurant offering excellent Czech cuisine. The charming family residence and restaurant is located within just 2-minute walk from the Charles Bridge and features wonderful views of the Prague Castle and the Church of St. Nicholas, Prague’s finest piece of baroque architecture.

We recently spent five nights at this fabulous apartment! Spacious accommodation with modern conveniences enjoyed in an elegant ambiance. The restaurant was an additional surprise and we returned to enjoy dinner there every evening because it was so good! The staff went out of there way to assist us in navigating our way around Prague...a beautiful city. The location allowed for easy access to the trams and/or all the sites. We absolutely loved our time here and hated to leave. We look forward to a return to this beautiful city and will definitely stay at Residence U Mecenase again!

We stayed in apartment 3 and it was extremely spacious, clean and perfectly placed for easy access to Prague Castle, Charles Bridge, Main Square etc. The Baroque Ceiling alone was worth the money. I can honestly say this apartment is extremely good value for money and I would certainly look to book this apartment when I return. The photos do not do it justice! You must not miss dining in the restaurant below, the food was outstanding.

Beautiful and very comfortable accommodation. Stayed in cozy junior suite and it was the perfect size with plenty of space for myself and teenage daughter to share. Modern conveniences with historic features. Very professional and helpful office staff who arranged transport, after hours check-in access, and dinner reservation at related Restaurant Mecenase located right next door (which I also highly recommend) so we could go straight to a relaxing dinner after a very long day of travel and late arrival. Great location for seeing all the beautiful sights. Would definitely choose to stay again!

What can we say? We loved our stay at the Residence from checkin to check out. We took part in their breakfast basket and enjoyed it immensely, The suite was spacious and comfortable while the shower and beds were great. It’s in a wonderful part of the lesser town and a convenient walk to the bridge. I would not hesitate to stay here at all.

Awesome stay. Nice rooms with excellent Climate Control. Comfy Beds. Nice TV & wifi. Good room service. Friendly staff. Fantastic location. Really the only con is the stairs (we were on the top floor so had to climb 3 stories to reach our apartment).

We stayed for three nights in a three bedroom unit. It was updated with modern conveniences such as air conditioning, clothes washer, microwave, bathrooms, etc. while keeping historic charm. The beautifully painted wooden beamed ceilings are preserved to showcase the lovely past of the unit. We had 6 people in our group. Two people per bedroom and two and a half baths was a dream! The price was comparable to the cost of two rooms and a nice hotel with so much more to offer. Owner was very helpful in setting up transportation to and from airport. Quiet area between Charles Bridge and Castle. Many great restaurants in the area and across the street from St. Nicholas church (Mala Strana). Easy walk to Old Town across the bridge. Got groceries at Biomarket down the road. There are stairs to climb with no elevator. Security is good with a key needed to get to the stairs from outside and keyed doors. Book directly through them for a discount or free wine. We didn't take them on the breakfast they offer through their restaurant below, but it is available for a fee. Very clean premises with plenty of towels for the unit.

I stayed for 4 nights in June. My Family were also in the apartments (wedding). The apartments are beautiful with all amenities dishwasher, washing machine tea and coffee topped up daily etc. Cleanliness was top class. The staff and owners were very pleasant and helpful. The location is ideal, 2 mins from Charles Bridge and Prague castle. 25mins from the airport. Plenty of nice restaurants were on the same road as hotel. Would definitely recommend.
