U Mecenase – a family residence and restaurant is located at the House of the Golden Lion on Prague’s most picturesque tourist route known as the Royal Walk where coronation pageants paraded for centuries. There is hardly a better place to start exploring the historic centre of Prague than Lesser Town Square, the main square of the Lesser Town. The House of the Golden Lion, dating back to 1608, is built on top of gothic cellars and is the only remaining building with a renaissance core on the Lesser Town Square. A cosy family residence is hidden within the historic walls, with 8 brand new apartments and a newly refurbished restaurant offering excellent Czech cuisine. The charming family residence and restaurant is located within just 2-minute walk from the Charles Bridge and features wonderful views of the Prague Castle and the Church of St. Nicholas, Prague’s finest piece of baroque architecture.

Detailed Reviews
We have now stayed at Residence U Mecenase on 4 different occasions over the last 2 or 3 years. Each time has been a different sort of trip, so each time we have had a different room depending on the circumstances of our trip. I can honestly say that every time I have been delighted with not only the quality and cleanliness of the accommodation, but also the customer service offered by the whole staff and management. From the welcome at check in, friendly advice and recommendations during our stay, arranging transport, taking care of luggage if we have to check in early or check out late, nothing seems too much trouble.
The location is fantastic on the Mala Strana, which is the quieter side of Charles Bridge, but still well in walking distance of all the major sights and attractions.
Try ordering the breakfast, it is a fantastic assortment of fresh and local produce and the price is so reasonable you really shouldn’t even try to find better anywhere else!
Our next visit is in a few days time and we really can’t wait. I cannot emphasise how much I rate the whole experience of staying at the beautiful, clean, historical Residence U Mecenase!

My friend and I stayed in the 2 bed apartment with castle views (as described on their website). We arrived late and they arranged for a taxi to collect us on our request and we accessed the room key using a keysafe outside the main entrance.
The apartment is beautiful; traditionally decorated and comes with all facilities you would expect and more. We made good use of the aircon as were staying over a very warm weekend!
The location is great - a very short downhill walk to charles bridge and if going to the castle, a 3 minute walk to the tram stop for 22 that takes you there.
Will definitely be seeking to stay here again when cisting Prague again to see all of the places missed out on during this very enjoyable trip to a beatiful city. Hotel staff very friendly and helpful

+1
We spent three nights at the Residence U Mecenáše in early September. We had to cancel our initial trip to Prague because of the global pandemic and shutdowns and had received a credit for our deposit, which we were finally able to use. We could not have picked a nicer place to stay in Prague. The manager we worked with initially, was able to arrange transport from the airport to the apartment, (for an added fee), but it was nice that we did not have to tackle driving in the city, and very convenient. Once we arrived, there was no need for a car as we could walk everywhere we needed to go. The apartments are located in the historical center of Prague. The castle is up the hill from Residence U Mecenáše , and the old Charles bridge was just down the street. There are numerous restaurants and shops within walking distance. We were in the attic apartment, and consequently, lots of stairs to climb, but it was quiet and comfortable. The apartment had stove top, microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker and utensils, if we had wanted to find food to bring back – actually a great idea for breakfast. Our attic apartment had yet another set of stairs up to the bedroom itself. While we didn’t mind the steep stairs up to the bed, it is a consideration when booking this particular room, especially as the bathroom is located on the first floor of the apartment, and we had to climb down the steep stairs to use the bathroom at night. The apartment included many old beams, perhaps some from the original 1608 building?, and it had a view from the small window, of a prominent church in the square that was lit up at night. The bathroom had newer amenities and shower. For us, the apartment was perfect for our needs and located in a lovely old part of the city. Also of note, the apartment manager was able to arrange transport for us when we left, to the countryside, about 1 ½ hours outside of Prague, where we were headed, and the same taxi driver was able to pick us up there and return us to the airport on the day we left the Czech Republic. A highly recommended stay in Prague

We stayed in the 2 bed-room apartment for 3 nights in Dec. It has a view of the Prague Castle, and it was magnificent, especially at night. It is very close to the Charles Bridge and of course walking distance to the Castle.
Our apartment was clean, has a large bathroom, a living room, and a dining area, where we would sit around after a day of walking around Prague for late night drinks and chit-chat.
The staff at the office is also very friendly, and helps with the our bags to our room. They could even arrange transport from airport (with additional cost) to fetch my friends to the apartment.
The restaurant below is great as well, we ate here on our first night. They had authentic dishes and good beer; prices were reasonable as well.
Highly recommended - it's the place to stay in Prague!

The property located in the 16th Century building has been completely updates. The bathroom fittings and bedrooms were very modern and spacious while maintaining old-world charm. Kitchenette was very well equipped with a grocery store close by if you wanted to cook (we didnt). Coffee maker was a game-changer and well supplied. All the staff and ownership were super helpful and friendly with getting parking permits, directions, supplied etc. Loved the place and will be back for sure.

We stayed for three nights in a three bedroom unit. It was updated with modern conveniences such as air conditioning, clothes washer, microwave, bathrooms, etc. while keeping historic charm. The beautifully painted wooden beamed ceilings are preserved to showcase the lovely past of the unit. We had 6 people in our group. Two people per bedroom and two and a half baths was a dream! The price was comparable to the cost of two rooms and a nice hotel with so much more to offer.
Owner was very helpful in setting up transportation to and from airport. Quiet area between Charles Bridge and Castle. Many great restaurants in the area and across the street from St. Nicholas church (Mala Strana). Easy walk to Old Town across the bridge. Got groceries at Biomarket down the road.
There are stairs to climb with no elevator. Security is good with a key needed to get to the stairs from outside and keyed doors. Book directly through them for a discount or free wine. We didn't take them on the breakfast they offer through their restaurant below, but it is available for a fee. Very clean premises with plenty of towels for the unit.

Beautiful and very comfortable accommodation. Stayed in cozy junior suite and it was the perfect size with plenty of space for myself and teenage daughter to share. Modern conveniences with historic features. Very professional and helpful office staff who arranged transport, after hours check-in access, and dinner reservation at related Restaurant Mecenase located right next door (which I also highly recommend) so we could go straight to a relaxing dinner after a very long day of travel and late arrival. Great location for seeing all the beautiful sights. Would definitely choose to stay again!

Characterful spacious apartment, great location, immaculately clean, with every amenity provided. The staff were all very helpful, both before and during our visit, and we appreciated the daily 'light' housekeeping, and the opportunity to order a freshly prepared breakfast basket for delivery to the apartment. We would also recommend the restaurant situated on the ground floor of the residence.
Our stay in Prague was undoubtedly enhanced by staying in Residence U Macanese and we would love to return.
Book direct for the best price and access to private transfer bookings and breakfast pre ordering :)

Perfect period location near some very nice bars and restaurants and an easy walk over the Charles Bridge to the busier/noisier side of the river. Accommodation was the 3 bedroom apartment for a long weekend which was perfect for a family get together and was beautifully appointed and furnished. The restaurant downstairs was excellent with very good quality and value. Highly recommended.

Sorry had our own transport but there are lots of buses. I suggest you just look on the net and check transport from the airport to Prague.
Dear Victoria,
thank you for your message.
Yes, we do have all rooms with individually controled heating system. You can select from all 7 rooms we have.
It is depends, which room you select, there are rooms on the 1st floor, on the 2nd floor, on the 3rd floor, so it is based on which floor you select. There are stairs, but you can keep your pushchair downstairs behind locked entrance, so no need to curry it all the way up.
Yes, we do provide baby cot free of charge.
Feel free to contact me.
Kind regards,
Klara
