Clean, modernized hotel. Spacious room, interestingly decorated. Appreciated the space, very large shower. Fridge etc in the room. This room actually had 4 beds which was great. Had a good sleep, especially withe the blackout curtains. Pretty good breakfast with very helpful staff.
We ate here several time and had very good Czech cooking for lunch and dinner (breakfast: not so much unless you can subsist on cold pork), but the hotel is old and only used by request if you come off season. Staff is OK, if traditional in that all interactions apparently must be conducted with unsmiling Czechs. Great beer. I was told by an elderly relative that this was the German HQ for the town during WWII - he'd been briefly arrested and interrogated here, so didn't want to come in to visit with us... we ended up going elsewhere to dine with him.
I came here with my family for weekday evening dinner. Did not stay overnight at the hotel, but tried the restaurant. It has a well designed interior, the service was great and responding to all our wishes. Food was delicious, fresh and my kids got half-portions just as they wanted. Try the Beef Tartare... Great choice for dinner in Nymburk. Looks it might be great for bigger party as well.
So I stayed here for just under two weeks! The rooms are varied in size but they were perfect with enough space 2 to a room! There was a heat wave at the time and it doesn't have air con but hardly any hotels in Czech have air con unless they are 5 star! There was a shop across the road where I bought a fan for about £15 which did the job as well as keeping the windows open in the day time. The food was amazing!!!!!! All types of food including fish, different meats, fresh salads, rice etc and the staff were very helpful and provided anything that we needed! They spoke little English but made our stay very relaxing not having to worry about anything! People have complained in previous reviews but I honestly don't know why and what they are needing to complain about!! I really recommend this hotel and its right in the centre of Nymburk with lots of little shops and a square- good location and a short ten minute walk to the train station where I went to prague which only takes 43 minutes on the train!…
We stayed at the Grand Hotel and Restaurant for two weeks during the 2015 European Lacrosse Championships in Nymburk and were not disappointed. The staff were very helpful and could not have done anymore for us. The food was amazing, the rooms were very spacious and I would highly recommend staying here to anyone.
I stayed at this hotel for 2 weeks in August 2015 whilst on tour with my sports team from England, 26 of us stayed here for the whole two weeks. Although we were a little sceptical about the hotel before arriving (due to prior trip advisor reviews) we were quickly comforted by the friendly management- Petr and his team. I can honestly say previous trip advisor reviews DO NOT fairly reflect the hotel, its facilities or the management here!! The rooms are spacious and have TVs and large windows boasting views over Nymburk (less than 1 minute walk to the central square with restaurants, bars, shops, 5 minute walk to the river and 10 minute walk to the train station where there is a 43 minute train into Prague). Some rooms back on to a terrace which attracts the sun and is great to relax on, on a hot day. We stayed during a heatwave, where temperatures reached 35+ degrees on every day we were there. Although there is no aircon at the hotel, if you leave the windows open then there is a pleasant breeze throughout and sleep is not affected. I was in the one slightly smaller room in the hotel and chose to buy a fan from the electronics store across the road- this cost me £10 and kept me cool for the 2 weeks. We stayed half board and enjoyed an extensive buffet breakfast and dinner each day with a range of different foods, catering well for vegetarians also. Nothing was ever too much trouble for Petr, Jacob or Domino and they ensured our comfort and pleasure throughout the stay. You really cannot fault their attentiveness to us or their customer service. The hotel is rated 3 stars and although some people may consider facilities basic, they do the job and the hotel is extremely homely. As stated earlier, 26 of us stayed for 2 weeks and had absolutely no problems with any aspect of the hotel. I would highly recommend this hotel to anybody travelling to Nymburk! PS- free wifi throughout!…
Two of our friends stayed in this hotel - first one in the summer of 2012 was quite lucky, said it was an OK, average hotel with an OK, average service and found nothing to complain or rave about. However, this New Year (2012/13), our other friends were coming for a visit and decided to stay here. I'm unhappy to say they were treated with very little respect and very little common manners. They had to postpone their reservation and due to some weird internal error, this never got round to the reception, even though they had everything confirmed by e-mail with manager. The problem was not handled very well by the reception upon their arrival and although everything got clarified later, the initial antagonism remained. Our friends are very nice people and no complainers or hissy throwers and were perfectly civil the whole time, we were there to witness. The hotel however reacted with cold food, refusal to replenish loo paper, icy manners of staff and finally, since they were the only guests for their second night, a switched off heating. Possibly such coldness is the standard for this hotel and it was nothing personal - I really cannot say. But I recommend choosing another place.…
