The venerable hotel with charm from nostalgic times was our domicile for 2 days. The hotel in the end was in a side street was very good. The spacious rooms were clean, well decorated and functional. The room ventilation could have been slightly better, but was compensated with the opening of the windows (quiet location).

The staff was nice and accommodating.

Sensational were both the breakfast buffet and the venerable salon where food could be eaten.

Conclusion: Charming hotel. The city itself is very easy to explore in one day and can be easily complemented with a hike on the Jeschken.

We stayed at the hotel for 4 nights as part of a group trip. The location is very quiet by the castle park and yet central. It is about 5 minutes walk to the town hall square, and the tram, shops and restaurants are also within a short distance.
It is a large, stylish hotel with a pleasant atmosphere. Our room was well equipped and of a reasonable size. Unfortunately, we had a view of the back courtyard. Although the hotel was certainly not fully booked, we were not given a room facing the park even when we asked (which is why I am not giving it the full number of points).
The breakfast is plentiful and offers something for every taste. We also had dinner in the hotel with the group. The food was of very good quality, but the portions were much too large. The staff in the restaurant were very friendly, although some of them were still learning. That was no problem for us, because everyone has to learn first.
The spa area is an extra charge, we did not use it, so we cannot give an opinion on it.
The rooms are only cleaned on request, but it worked perfectly for us.
It is certainly one of the best, if not the best hotel in Liberec. We would stay here again.

Classic grand hotel, but still quiet in the city center.
The air conditioning did not work in the room - we could solve this by a "downgrade" then. Paid parking is available in front of the hotel.
Breakfast is good and can also be consumed on the terrace.
I'd rather take another hotel next time.

We booked the so-called Junioursuite in order to have more comfort for our long stay and were negatively surprised by this room: it's located directly facing a very busy street with autos, buses and trams passing by all day and night, the bedroom being on top of a restaurant, so that guests outside could look at you if you open the curtains (no privacy). We only had a small ventilator and it was very hot but opening the windows meant a lot of noise. The beds were also extremely soft and the closet door was difficult to open. The long list of available tv stations isn't real, since we only got five of them, all in Czech. And all of this for the price of a suite! I asked for a change of room and they told me that they were full so I would have to wait until something would become free in order to be able to change. I kept monitoring the situation on Booking.com and that very evening a room became free, so I went to the reception again and had to be very persistent in my wish to change the room so the lady would book this newly available room for me, and still she asked me to talk to the reception again the next morning in order to finalize this. So it took me three talks with the reception in total to make it happen and we got a so-called Superior room, which was better and would cost less money. This one had its issues also: for instance a light switch located at the top of the bed so low that it would easily get switched on by a simple movement of the pillow (very unpleasant at night); still only five available tv stations, all in Czech; the cleaning wasn't very thorough, especially in the bathroom they wouldn't wipe or vacuum-clean the floor. I would expect a 4-star hotel to take more care of such things and especially to not charge so much money for "suites" that won't offer any real comfort.

On the positive side, the hotel is a beautiful old building, very easy to reach by public transport from the main train station and with shopping options and restaurants directly nearby. The breakfast buffet was excellent with a lot of variety and a very attentive staff looking after every detail. The Superior room had air conditioner, which was very good for these hot summer days, even though they allegedly turn it off at night, I could still use it a bit pass the time.

I know this Hotel since 16 years, after a full renovation it was this „Grand Hotel“ but nowadays it’s a better Ibis. The room cleaning is only every second day, wending machines instead of minibar, breakfast chaos in case of busloads of tourists……standard is constantly moving downwards. For business people not really recommended.
Room cleaning, you do not get an information in advance and you have no choice. Argument was the saving of water and detergents - ridiculous…..don’t sell your guests for stupid.

We stayed in the Superior room for 2 nights 19-21 February 2021. Overall the stay was nice, accommodation comfortable and clean, very good and rich breakfast, 3-course menu in the pub "Na Ruzku", the premises of the hotel great.
We were surprised by a few things that spoiled our experience a bit. The room was not in its best condition. Sheets and towels were clean and ready, but the curtains were torn down, sliding doors in the closet were stuck, a lightbulb was not funcioning in the chandelier.
Another unpleasant situation happened in the restaurant. We were told by the receptionist that we can pay our spending at the check-out including the bill in the restaurant. But when we were leaving the restaurant, we were forced to pay our bill, because "it was not guaranteed" that we will pay...? That was really unsuitable.
Our mood was then improved by a nice wellness with a comfortable whirlpool and sauna. Nevertheless we will probably choose a different hotel for our next stay in Liberec.

We visited the hotel in the first week of opening after a lockdown period. The hotel is very charming and very well maintained. Very polite service at the front desk, very efficient in other areas too. Large and comfortable room, bed with comfortable mattress and quality linen. What could be improved would be the bathroom, very oudated, especially considering that it is a 4* hotel. Our room was extremely hot and they couldn't adjust the heating so we left the windows open. Fortunately the hotel was still quite empty and we were able to enjoy the spa and sauna area practically alone. It's worth paying to use this area (I think around 300czk/hour, I don't remember for sure). As the hotel was not yet fully operational, the restaurant was not either. Even so, we had a great breakfast! We will be back.

I visited this hotel three times in the year 2023 and always felt like a queen. Starting with welcoming, very friendly, polite and helpful reception staff, through the clean and comfortable room to the rich breakfast everything was perfect.
I always tend to try different hotels when coming repeatedly to the same place but after a first stay in Zlaty Lev Liberec became an exception and I always book this hotel and will keep on doing it.

The hotel looks great from the outside. It's OK inside. You have to pay €11/hour for the sauna, but that wasn't mentioned anywhere on the hotel website. That's disappointing if you book a hotel with a sauna. There's also no bar in the hotel. The rooms are acceptable. The shower doors don't close properly and the shower head can't be hung on the holder.
There are better hotels for less money and better service.

We had a lovely stay, me and my family, in Clarion Zlaty lev Liberec. The passion for work of the receptionists - Michal and Ondra - was really high. They are the people in the right place, the hotel director as well. The hotel is a charming place with art nuveau style and located centrally, though a quiet location with a park in front of the building.
