We booked a deluxe room at Humboldt Park Hotel website six months in advance. They confirmed our reservation several times. However, when I contacted them two days before our arrival, they said there was a technical issue in their system and our reservation was cancelled. They offered us a room in a different hotel saying it was in 4 stars hotel (which wasn’t true). Coming from US an having other arrangements made already, we couldn’t cancel our trip. It was a HUGE disappointment when we came to the other hotel. It wasn’t even close to what we paid for but we had no other options at that time and we stayed. Dishonest management of Humboldt hotel sells cheap proprieties using nice pictures of deluxe rooms. After reading other reviews I realized that what happened to us has happened to other travelers too. Avoid this hotel if you can.…
We have been booking a suite for June 5 for five days with this hotel. The booking was done on their Web-Page (not over an agency!) already on 15th February and has been firmly confirmed to us (suite for 2 persons with breakfast) on the same day, i.e. 15th February 2019. Since then, we have not heard from the hotel. Big was our shock though, when a short e-mail from them reached us on 27th May, i.e. barely a week prior to our arrival, telling us that they are sorry, but "due to technical reasons" they have to cancel our reservation. This has never happened to us, and we have visited hundreds of hotels all over the world (even a few years ago this same hotel in the lovely town of Karlovy Vary)! However this seems to have system at the hotel Humboldt! When looking through the ratings about this hotel in TripAdvisor, I found at least one customer having had precisely the same experience "for technical reasons", but he was even more unlucky, as they told him only when arriving at the hotel!!! This hotel is cheating it's customers with probably overbooking or even worse, changing out clients to guests who may offer them a higher price during the high season. Whatever: It is more than unethical and does lots of harm to the hotel industry in Karlovy Vary and this is why I will also be writing to the Czech Tourist Board. A few years ago, I had no problems and was quite satisfied. They may however have changed their management in the meantime and adopted such unethical handlings of their customers. To the readers of Tripadvisors reports: beware of this hotel! A confirmation from them does not mean you are confirmed with a room from their hotel, as is usually the case with other, but honest, hotels! The great Alexander von Humboldt would turn in his grave if he knew that a hotel bearing his good name is abusing it's customers in such a way!…
Some things were great about this hotel and others have room for improvement, starting with check-in. Not sure if the lukewarm greeting was because we are nit Russian or whether things were lost in translation. We had to emphatically state that the booking was indeed for three people and not two and then one, as they wanted us to believe. (We were three people standing there with three big bags). The room itself was huge - a living area, a separate bedroom and a huge bathroom with a big corner bath. However, no sign of a third bed - in spite of requesting mo the ago, a king size bed and twin singles. Reluctantly a churlish young lady came and wanted to separate the king into twin singles. With no grace she then made up the sofa and would not accept our offer of help. However she need not have bothered because a worse sofa bed you will be hard pushed to find. The bed folds out at an angle, the mattress is very thin and every metal bar from the fold it base could be felt. Therefore, my daughter slept a night on the floor. Looking forward to the spa area we went to the top floor. The spa or whirlpool can sit 5 at a pinch but the jets do not work well in all sections. The ladder into the whirlpool is really dangerous - you are better off hoping in from the side. The pool was freezing and the jets available there did not work either. Finding a list of so a treatments required tenacity - unless you can read Czech or Russian. We got one from a cleaner but chose to do other things instead. Breakfast was surprisingly good - sufficient variety. Best thing about the hotel was its location. - easy access everything we wanted to do. …
.Good location in the centre of town. Hotel is quaint, quiet and clean. It is orientated for the east countries people. Staff barely speak English. No conditioner in room. Food is terrible plain and tasteless.
We've stayed at Humboldt for two weeks in September 2017 and purchased all inclusive package - room, meal, doctor's exam and 40 spa treatments per person. Location is super convenient - only 4-5 min walk to mineral springs and no need to climb the hills. We've stayed at Comfort category room (approx. 300 sq.f), which was comfort enough for us to stay there for 2 weeks. Very bright and clean with 12 feet high ceilings . Meal was very good and tasty. Three types of meat/fish main dishes and one vegetarian course for lunch and dinner. The menu was different every day. Several vegetable salads, a lot of fresh fruits and great pastries. Medical Spa service is impressive with classical and water massage, mud bath, lymph drainage, gas injections, laser treatment, dry CO2 bath, magneto-therapy, inhalations and ultrasonic treatment. The board-certified in internal medicine, physical medicine and physiotherapy spa doctor exams you first and prescribes medical spa treatments . Along with registered nurse, spa nurse, physiotherapist and masseurs they are offering the high level professional treatments application. Hotel has water current pool, jaccuzzi, sauna and hammam (steam sauna), which we were using after dinner to get relaxed and renewed. The hotel staff is very friendly, attentive and helpful. They are fluent in German, Russian and a little bit less in English, which is not a big deal. All in all we have spent a great time at Humboldt Hotel in Karlovy Vary and will definitely come back again.…
