Nice, bit old, hotel. Renovated. Breakfast is in the beasement (escape in case of fire????). Lift not to the groud bud to etage 1. Fire-escape could need attention! Parking at a certain distance from the hotel. Friendly staff.
Very nicely decorated rooms. Good breakfast with quite a bit of variety. Quiet rooms. Free parking and wi-fi. Pleasant and helpful host. You need a cell phone to call the front desk, there are no doorbells. Otherwise arrive before shops close and as a shop next door to call for you. Office is downstairs and they cannot hear you knock either.
This is a pension on the edge of the pedestrian area of the medieval town of Cheb, which is just a 10 minute drive from Frantiskovy lazne spa and a 30 minutes drive from Marianske Lazne spa (one of the largest and most well known spas in the Czech Republic). The pension offers large rooms with free WIFI and free secured parking nearby. Breakfast is served in a spacious basement restaurant. The area round Cheb is great for cycling. The spas are beautiful, with beautiful pool and various wellness treatments on offer. The prices are generally much lower than in Prague.
It is close to the centre of Cheb and two minutes after arriving we were welcomed and helped to unload the car. The accommodation was comfortable and well furnished with personal touches to the décor - not the standard hotel room. Lifts were available to take you to floors where the rooms are. Information and maps were provided as were details of the wifi password which worked very well. Secure parking was close by and we were provided with an electronic key to operate the gates. On leaving we were helped with our luggage to the parking and helped to load up. The service could not have been better. Comfortable beds and a very good clean bathroom. Dog friendly. Breakfast was provided in the restaurant in the basement again good service and a excellent range of choices.
The Penzion is inside a tall grey building near the town centre of Cheb. Access is initially gained by ringing the proprietors on a mobile number. Thereafter access is gained by a universal key but this can mean up to 4 locked doors to get to the room. I'm not sure if this is a reflection of Cheb, the Czech Republic or just the proprietors' safety concerns but it was bit daunting. However, the rooms bright, clean and tidy with plenty of space and our towels were replaced each day. Breakfast was served in the restaurant 4 floors down from our room but the owners had gone to a lot of trouble for us, given that we were the only guests ( it being the off-season): English-type cereals, yoghurt and fresh fruit; typical German/Czech cold cuts and cheeses but enhanced with peppers, cherry tomatoes etc; and hot sausages eggs and bacon. A spread more befitting a 3 or 4 star hotel. The owners speak a little English and more German and were very keen to help. Mum even gave us a parting gift. The rather dull town of Cheb itself didn't have a lot to offer in the off-season but our room was a warm bright spot.…
