Had a pleasant one night stay at Hotel Barbakan. The studio for 3 was spacious with nice views. Very easy to walk to the sights. The hotel provides (paid) parking which was very useful. Breakfast was not that exciting.
Just 5 mins from the bus station, the medieval accommodation is as cosy as the little hamlet. Jakub has really helped us with all the necessary information and allowed us for an early check-in. The town center is less than 5 mins walk from the hotel. The breakfast was also good. P.S.: If you are staying in some of the more modern properties around the town square, you will need to drag your luggage through the cobbled paths up and down the terrain, and that might not be very easy.
This place is now owned by the pension next door. We had booked with Pension Barbakan but stayed next door which we were glad. We upgraded to room with a river view and left the windows open at night. Nice! Quiet and enjoyed the view. Everything was great. It was convenient to be able to park right in front. Right across the short bridge of the Old Town, a couple minute walk.
Pension Barbakan was well located for an easy walk into the old town and other attractions. The lady at reception was very pleasant and helpful. Our room was large with a clean bathroom. It overlooked the river and the snow capped houses in the town. Breakfast was plentiful with a good spread. The receptionist suggested getting a taxi from the railway station which dropped us off at the front door and collected us for our return journey. I would stay at Pension Barbakan again because of its good location and value
Pension Barbakan is a really nice and conveniently located B&B. The price is very reasonable and includes a good breakfast spread. The bedroom we were in was a bit small, but the bathroom was good size and the bed was comfortable. The greeting we received at reception when we arrived was not very warm and friendly... it actually seemed a bit confrontational, but the service was fine after that.
This pension is located right at the entrance to the old town. Our room look down over the river and the bridge. It is it in easy walking distance to everything in the old town. The room was large and clean. It had a nice deep tub and after traveling for two weeks was nice to take a soak. The staff was friendly and helpful. They did a load of laundry for us for a small extra charge. Breakfast was A typical European continental breakfast. It was good and plentiful.
I stayed 2 nights in Pension Barbakan in the middle of a trip through Central Europe. This couldn't have been a better place to relax and recharge for the 2nd half of my trip. Location: I saw so many people dragging their suitcases on the cobbled streets and was glad I wasn't one of them. My taxi and shuttle were able to drop me off and pick me up at the front door. There is a coop market 2 minutes walk from the pension. The pension is at the end of a bridge into town, with lovely views down to the river, which is reachable via steps near the property. Staff: the staff were so helpful and friendly; checking my train arrival time to coordinate a pre-arranged taxi; providing reasonably priced laundry service with clothes washed, folded and back in my room in a few hours; and offering hot tea (or coffee) when I was taking a mid-day break on their balcony overlooking the river. Room and pension: I was in charming Room 3, a Comfort Double with River View and a very large soaking tub, up 1 flight of stairs. It was a wonderful and quiet getaway from the day's sightseeing. The terrace was a wonderful place to relax and enjoy a quiet cup of coffee or tea. The wifi worked perfectly in the room and on the terrace. I was delighted with the Pension, felt pampered by the staff, and appreciated the easily accessible location for my 2 day break to relax and recharge.…
We arrived by bus at noon for our one night stay on Sunday, 2 Sept. 2018. Its about a 6-7 min. walk with luggage from the Cesky Krumlov, AN bus station to Penzion Barbakan located on the left side of the road just before crossing a bridge into Old Town. It was two flights of stairs (no elevator) to our Rm #4 with a nice view of the bridge, town and castle tower beyond, see photos. The simple room was quiet, with comfy bed, nice shower and bathroom, no hairdryer, small TV, small corner desk w/coffee maker. There is no A/C but it cooled down quickly at night. Breakfast: breads, meats & cheeses, apple cake, OJ, coffees & tea, toast, sausage, scrambled or hard egg, cereals, yogurt & whole fruit. We took the 2pm English walking tour of the picturesque town starting outside the Info Center in the Old Town Square. We then went to see the Seidel Museum, ate at the Nirvana Indian Restaurant and took photos at night. The Old Town Square is only a 3-4 min. walk uphill. We would recommend Penzion Barbakan, $70/night. Did this review earn a “Thank you” vote?…
Located right before entering town. Convenient for those who has big luggage as one doesn't need to haul luggage over cobblestones road in town. Quite stingy on breakfast. Not much hospitality to write about.
I am very happy with my stay here. Pension barbakan is located right on the entrance of CK, perfect location. Room is wooden decoration which look sweat and calm. Sad that their restaurant is under renovation, so did not have chance to try. We booked ticket in early morning, so we can't have breakfast. They are nice to prepare our breakfast a day before, so that we can bring it to eat on the way. I will book here again, if I come back to CK.
