Nice old building (since 1533) on main central square. Stayed for one night. Got a room with very good view of the main square. The quality of breakfast was so so. The room is big but needs a renovation.

Cesky Budejovic might seem a bit disappointing after Cesky Krumlov, but it is a very pleasant city, with a beautiful town square, and is a really good place for a nice, relaxed visit. Grand hotel Zvon is right on the central square. It is an impressive building, and the hotel is large, elegant and spotlessly clean. The rooms are spacious... More

I was here for 3 nights and every night, I was awaken by the clock towers in town, which is only a few buildings away and across the square and all over the town. The clock chimes hourly plus quarterly and since the town square is small, it didn’t matter which way the room is facing...it was loud enough to... More

The hotel is in a great location in the square. The building is old and lack modern services, rooms are huge, bathrooms need renovation. The breakfast is satisfactory. The lobby is dark and not inviting. However, the service in the front desk is wonderful.

We had a reservation and arrived at the hotel to be told that a large group of German tourists had booked rooms so ours had been double booked. They offered us the Hotel Dvorak instead across the square, but checking the reviews shows its is very substandard to.what we had paid for. We stuck to our guns insisting we had... More

Nice hotel, very beautiful view from one small window, but there are some minuses: 1) dirty floor and carpets, NO slippers 2) bathroom with uncomfortable shower 3) not working heater in bathroom, ie wet towels Parking on roof Free wi-fi Breakfast: simple, everything is fresh -muesli, yogurt -boiled eggs, scrambble, sausages -cheese, ham -vegetable and fruit salads -bakery, bread -juice,... Ceske Budejovic was a lovely place to visit for my first time in Czech Republic. The Hotel Zvon faces on to the lovely old square and offers comfortable rooms at reasonable prices, good food, a choice of places to eat and drink (including an outdoor restaurant overlooking the square). The service was good, the rooms were clean and the heating/air... More

When it comes to small but essential details, there is lack of interest or understanding. From receptionists to waiters to porters, there is indifference. Everything is an effort usually performed with a deep sigh if not outright rudeness. It is classed as four plus hotel but it was "not possible"to have a kettle in the room but you could "take... I'm not sure if i should or shouldn't recommend Grandhotel Zvon in České Budějovice. It was a pleasant stay, but not everything went smoothly. I particularly book a room with air conditioning about four weeks in advance. I arrived at the hotel, the reception was nice and warm and I was guided to my room. I settled in only to... More

When I came into the room, I found a couple of Bugs flying in the room and the water glass were so dirty so I had to wash. it wasn't a pleasant experience at all. Plus the square was too much crowd made a lot of noise all night long. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone it is... More
