This wasn't the fanciest, most comfortable, most convenient place we stayed on our three week trip. But it was the best. We'll have the memory of our stay here far longer than at any of our other stops. The owner was very gracious and gave us a tour of the eleventh century buildings he is restoring. He spoke little English but his outgoing personality and enthusiasm for what he was accomplishing made up for it. We stayed here largely because of its proximity to the Lesany Military Museum, but would certainly return just for the pleasure of staying here again. Highly recommend. They serve a super breakfast and have a nice restaurant open for dinner.
When we arrived at Penzion Zámek they were busy unloading barrels of beer for the bar. We were not sure who we needed to talk to. Everyone was busy. They spoke only Czech and we, no Czech. We were reassured though as we were greeted as 'booking.com' it is that type of place. The owner, once he'd finished with the barrels proved to be a friendly and helpful chap. The farm building that housed the penzion was architecturally interesting and the rooms were basic but with all you require for a comfortable night. The pizzeria attached to the penzion was very busy, particularly for a small farming commune and made the worst pizza's we have ever tasted! The price was right. So if you want an interesting night in a country penzion, this one could be for you. We enjoyed it.
