My family of 4 stayed at Andaluza during Christmas 2020. This hotel is beautiful with a lot of original and ornate accents, some sections were built in the 1700s! The grounds were lovely with roaming peacocks, bunnies, llamas and sheep. The highlight of this hotel was the bathtub! This was the only hotel during our journey that had a bathtub :) The only downfall would be the location. It's probably 15 minutes outside of the city center and on the other side of the toll plaza. Unfortunately, it's also located in front of some sort of horse training facility that likes to party. This facility started blaring tejano music at 9 a.m. They ended up have a party that night and the music played all night. The front desk assured us that they called the authorities 4 times, but they did not show up until well after midnight.

I’m a hotelier by profession and by passion and during all the traveling I’ve done for so many years, for sure the best thing that Andaluza has is the front desk staff, specially Ma Fernanda, who was so helpful and kind to coordinate every detail for our party of 9. She was on point suggesting spa services (which made us relax to the point that some of our family members repeated the services), a Chimborazo tour with a very knowledgeable and friendly guide, birthday celebration, horse rides even during the night which we enjoyed enormously and a bomb fire during our last evening with s’mores.
They surely need training in the dining room, specially on agility and remembering/mixing up additionals we ordered. Having in mind foreigners guests usually are not used to waiting that long, it’s a very important issue to have improved.
However, the spotless housekeeping and front office friendliness, surely balances out the experience.
Thank you Andaluza and Ma Fernanda for a very good vacation!

Amazing experience. Beautiful views. Stunning architecture. The spa was wonderful. They have anything you could possibly need during your trip.

The restaurant is charming and the food was awesome. The room was super clean and cozy. The price per night was fair if you compare with similar hotels in other countries. There are a lot of excursions you can take from here to places like the Chimborazo. Every staff member we encountered was so nice and helpful specially a guy named Oscar Diaz who checked me in and was there for us with any questions. I want to thank him (Oscar) for helping us have a stress-free vacation in Ecuador.
I will definitely come back in the future.

Magnificent historic hacienda hotel full of unusual oddities and antiques. Beautiful dark wood, creaky floor boards and stone. Stunning plants and shrubs as well as garden ornaments add to the atmosphere.

The hotel is a maze of walkways and rooms with elaborate decorations, pictures and statues everywhere. For such a quaint and small place it has lots of places to view and visit; there are pool tables, library, lovely souvenir shop, cosy bar, nice sized restaurant for breakfast/dinner and courtyard and gardens. The rooms are dotted about on a couple of floors along colourful corridors and each room is beautifully decorated to match the rest of the hotel. Very comfy bed and nice and warm room. Bathroom has what you need but like many hotels here hot water takes a while to come through.

The bar drinks and food menu are what you expect with decent options and food was very tasty and well presented. The chocolate cake with ice cream was gorgeous. We also had live music with pan pipe players why we were there. Brilliant. Staff are very helpful and often always have a beaming smile and ready to help. Many speak great English. Thank you for my stay. Magnificent!

An excellent place to stay with exceptional attentive staff! Our family was travelling through the Riobamba area and thoroughly enjoyed our overnight stay. It was our son's 17th birthday and the staff prepared a special dessert with the entire staff singing a special celebratory tune. We reserved the spa for the evening which was beautifully designed and a refreshing and relaxing experience. We would highly recommend this accommodation if you are visiting the area!

We were days before in Samari in Baños and we were very happy, the hotel was perfect, but what was our surprise when we arrived at La Andaluza and we found a museum. The hotel is splendid, we had only one night there and it was not enough to walk around and look around the hotel, but what we could see and enjoy was great. The wellness area is very nice, luxuriously decorated, and with a first class service. Our tour operator forgot to make the reservation including the wellness area, and we had to pay for it separately, but it didn't really matter, since the service was first class. We also had a bonfire prepared for us at night and a small table for snacking and roasting marshmellows, which was very good for my son, while he was playing with the bunnies that live in the garden. The breakfast, in the same Samari style, tasty, well served, and sufficient. May we come back soon to Riobamba, we will gladly repeat. 10/10

An incredible stay with delicious food! The room was so very charming as it had a working fireplace and a thermostat to keep you warm. The wildlife in the garden were cute and a fun addition. The staff were so friendly, spoke English and were always willing to help. Fernando gave us the "historic tour" of the home and then some and it was so informative! Highly recommend this place! The volcanic meals are to die for!

Never stayed anywhere like this , totally unique one of the best hotels we ever visited.
A cross between a vintage hotel and museum , very hard to describe.I’ll try.
Beautifully furnished throughout, with vintage furniture and numerous fresh flowers . Each room downstairs is a delight and surprise.
We did the hotel tour seeing the Simon De Bolívar suite and the stunning spa.
Our room was spacious and well equipped, even with tongs as well as hairdryer , everything worked only thing lacking was a full length mirror.
Views of rabbits , sheep and Guinea pigs from window .
Massive tv with English language channels.
Huge comfy bed initially covered in rose petals to welcome us.
Atmospheric bar , lovely restaurant where we ate a gorgeous mixed grill ( volcano roar ) a starter , crepe suzette and 2 cocktails each for 60 dollars.
View of volcano in the morning and a high quality buffet breakfast.
Perfecto.

Dear Michael, Thank you so much for your kind words and glowing review! We are thrilled to hear that you had such a unique and memorable experience with us. We take great pride in our historical house, and it’s wonderful to know that you appreciated the beautifully furnished rooms and fresh flowers. The Simón Bolívar suite and our spa are indeed some of our gems, and we’re delighted you enjoyed the tour. We’re glad your room met your expectations and that you found it well-equipped. Your feedback about the full-length mirror is appreciated, and we’ll certainly look into this for future improvements. The views from your window sound delightful, and we’re happy you enjoyed them along with the comforts of your room. It’s great to hear you enjoyed our "El Portal"bar and "El Establo"restaurant, and that our gastronomy was to your liking. We aim to provide high-quality dining experiences, and your satisfaction is our reward. Thank you again for your wonderful review. We hope to welcome you back for another perfect stay. Beautiful old world charm featuring wood burning fireplaces in the common areas. Rooms were initially chilly until settling in, but not much air flow. Traditional dinner at the hotel. Luxurious spa treatments available. A little remote from sites, but this was an overnight stay as part of a tour.

I have been obsessed with learning all I can about Simon Bolivar, so naturally I had to go to Hosteria Andaluza to stay in the Presidential Suite. For me it was worth the extra cost. It is an amazing and beautiful room that is huge with a view of Chimborazo from the large jacuzzi bathtub. The Hosteria is a museum with stunning artwork throughout- what a collection!!! The spa was perfect! The restaurant was delicious. I highly recommend a get away to this hosteria- it is frozen in time, a historic time!

Yes, you can let the long-distance bus driver know where you need to get off, and he will stop in front of the hotel if he knows where it is. Tour operators may do the same out of courtesy, but Julio Verne--for instance--won't do a pick-up unless the tour passes by the hotel anyway. If you're going to Chimborazo with them (i.e., different direction), you'll need to flag down one of the regular buses (US$1.50, if I recall correctly) or take a taxi (US$10 one-way) to their downtown office.

1 hour and 45 minutes. You have to take the train in a small town call Alausí.
