Breakas Beach Resort offers an engaging atmosphere, complete with live music and beachside dining, that many guests find immersive. While the rooms boast ocean views, opinions are divided as some guests find them basic and suggest updates are needed. The hotel's amenities, including a beautiful pool and authentic huts, receive praise, yet the breakfast and Wi-Fi have room for improvement. Service is typically seen as warm and friendly, though occasional lapses are noted. The resort's prime location is a highlight for guests, as is the overall cleanliness, despite an isolated theft report.

We stayed for five nights after Christmas. We chose Breakas specifically because it's kid free and it was a great decision. As other recent reviews have said the resort was full but you would never have known it except for the time it took for meals to come out. Island time, relax. It reminded us of the Cook Islands! We took our shoes off when we arrived and didn't put them back on until we left. You can be barefoot everywhere. The staff were great, especially the team in the bar, although it'd be wrong just to single them out as everyone was great. We stayed in a garden fare. Roomy, comfy bed, tea and coffee facilities, iron and board and it stayed quite cool just with louvres open and ceiling fan on. The mossies didn't bother us as we kept mossie coils lit. Loved the kid free pool area, especially the bean bags, but again as others have said there needs to be some more shade around the pool/along the beach (as in more umbrellas). If you're going to go swimming in the ocean take reef shoes as there's lots of broken coral. On the whole the food was pretty good. Included buffet breakfast was good. A couple of misses, including at least for us the seafood platter that was pretty ordinary (and expensive) but New Year's Eve was a huge hit, including the seafood! Don't go expecting cheap, it's Aussie bistro prices, and why shouldn't it be? Happy hour every night was great. Loved the coconut mojitos, maybe too much ;) Not often we know we'll return somewhere because the world is a big place but we will return to Breakas.

My husband and I stayed at Breakas for 7 nights in a Garden Fare’. Breakas is a small traditional resort with only about 60 Fares’ set amongst beautiful tropical gardens.
The facilities are good with a great infinity pool, restaurant and bar area.
A small breakfast buffet is included in the room rate and includes a small but adequate selection plus a small serve of bacon and eggs done to your liking. The staff sometimes do not keep their eye on the buffet and regularly replenish. A couple of mornings there was no water or filtered coffee available. It was like the staff forgot and guests regularly had to ask for supplies. A minor thing but was annoyed nonetheless.
Generally, the staff are not very responsive to guests or appear not to have any urgency to attend to guests. We realise this is an island resort and things run on island time but I feel improvement could be made.
Allow plenty of time when you want to do any activities as things do not generally run on time or happen quickly.
We would definitely return though.

well, we spent 5 days for New year at the Breakas for our 2 years anniversary, and were offered a bottle of sparkling wine and a massage, thank you for that, the bungalow was great, room cleaned everyday, a fridge, coffee facilities, a fantastic outside shower, great size room and bathroom and a great little deck to enjoy a beer. The beach is large and at high tide there is no problem to swim at low tide it`s good enough to put your bum in the water and enjoy the view. The swimming pool was great water at sea or in the pool were the same, hot !! a great place to enjoy a beer in the water ! the included continental breakfast was good enough, fruits, cold meat and cheese, etc...the danish pastries never tasted fresh, the toast machine takes ages to make a toast !! The food at the restaurant was good, with an excellent crab pasta, pizza were nice too. the biggest disappointment was the New Year eve dinner, i think only the prawns, pate and cheese were good, the rest was not up to the high price we paid for. Ok i`m a chef, but there are some minimum to cook food !! Most of the staff is friendly, some waitresses could do with a bit of a smile ! overall a nice place to stay, we would definitely comeback,

We stayed here for a week over Christmas so it was really busy (full). Despite that it never felt crowded. The only down side to being so busy was the kitchen sometimes struggled to keep up. The food was mostly very good and the choices of menu items and specials were wide. Buffet Breakfast is included in the room rate and is a worth taking advantage of. The restaurant setting was especially nice when the weather allowed tables to be placed on the sand next to the pool for dinner. The majority of the staff were friendly, happy and informative. We had a garden Fare one step back from the beachfront which was for us, an ideal location. The bungalows are a good size, well appointed and serviced daily. The pool is large and deep. The bar gets busy at happy hour but nobody minds and the staff always have a smile. The beach is quiet and relaxing, (no kids) but does need some more shade in the area close to the pool. Breakas is a little remote but close enough to town that you can visit anytime for a few dollars on one of the local buses which are in themselves a great experience. Talk to the drivers, listen to some tunes and see the locals do what they do. We will be back.

I spent a week here with my wife, my mother and 3 friends. Between us we had 4 bungalows/fares. Meandering sand paths through large trees and gardens separate the fares. The fares are comfortable and clean. Beds are firm. Sheets are cotton. Each fare has an ensuite with a good shower, toilet and wash hand basin. There is a fridge and small safe in each room. The staff are very friendly, kind and helpful. The breakfast is simple - local fruit, cereals, pastries, toast and spreads bacon and eggs cooked on request and instant coffee and tea re all included in the nightly rate. Espresso coffee is an extra cost but quite reasonable and pretty good really. The beach is clean with nice sand but due to shallow reef close to shore and a strong rip further out the ocean swimming is somewhat limited. There are 3 surf breaks a few hundred meters off shore right out front but all are for skilled surfers owner as they are shallow reef breaks and the rip can be quite strong also. We found Breakas a comfortable relaxing conveniently located base for our excursions and would definitely stay there again.

Stayed here for 10 nights and was very pleased with how great this place was. No guests under 16 years of age so very peaceful. Rooms set in lovely gardens. Rooms are not air conditioned but that is not such an issue as the gardens and the overhead fans in the rooms help keep the temperatures down.
The bar was well stocked and the in house food was good. Breakfast was included (Continental).
Pool was clean and plenty of chairs and recliners to relax in. There is also a private beach which was good as many of the other resorts here do NOT have access to beaches. A small tour desk can advise on where to go and what to see.
Staff were attentive and very accommodating with requests.
We are already planning a return visit next year.

First, location was beautiful. The horizon pool was great, there was good snorkelling right off the beach, though there was quite a strong current.

Our bure was spacious, but there was no table and chairs inside so that we could sit and eat if we wished or read a book. The lighting in the fare was very poor, and the only way we could read was to hang the bedside lights on a hook above the bed to be able to see. The ceiling fan was adequate enough for us. Noise from other fares and the village behind us was sometimes quite intrusive, as there were no windows, just flyscreens with timber slats to keep out the light.

Housekeeping was hit and miss, and on one occasion the new sheets were grey and had a couple of stains on them, which was not pleasant.

On arrival at Breakas (after midnight) we didn’t receive a welcome drink, which would have been good as it was still quite warm. We received an envelope with vouchers for the inclusions in our package, but we didn’t receive a list of the days and times of some of our activities, eg the village visit and cooking class. We didn't receive this information until 2 days later after asking again at the front desk, and as a result we missed out on some of these, which was disappointing.

The breakfasts were very basic, fruit, cereals, bread etc, but there was no filtered or percolated coffee provided, just instant coffee sachets, which was poor. If we wanted a decent coffee we had to go to the bar and order and pay for it.

Food, for the most part, was very good and we were pleasantly surprised at the quality and price of it. However, we booked a table for the Seafood Platter night, and we were looking forward to crab, lobster, prawns etc, which was clearly advertised in our room folder. However, when we got our meal, we received instead a large casserole pot with a mixed seafood dish instead, with garlic bread for dipping in the sauce (and, to be fair, the dish was very tasty). When we questioned this, we were told that there was no lobster, crabs etc available, and that they had not been serving the seafood platter for some time, this was what was being served instead. I mentioned that there was still a photo of a seafood platter in their advertising, but the waitress said that it shouldn’t still be advertised as a platter! We were not happy, and neither were several other diners who had ordered the platter.

This was our 5th visit to Vanuatu, and while Breakas Beach was in a good location, we would probably not return to this particular resort.

Dear sylvs10, Thank you for the rating, thank you for the comment we have shared with our team. Thank you for staying with us on your 5th visit to Vanuatu. To our future guest. Our fares did have windows with fly screen on the outside. Our team can add more light if ask for. There is a balcony table and chair in each fare. We are sorry to read of the the sheets, and will ensure our housekeeping provide standards service to our future guest. As for the village walk and the cooking class, this is a resort give away. However, this will change and will only provide these activities to guest that book for it when making their reservations. And the information is always providing for new arrivals in our 10am guest orientation everyday. We noted your comment regarding the welcome drink at midnight and will ensure our Duty Manager ensure all guest receive their welcome drink even if it is after mid night. To our future guest, there is a breakfast menu to choose from if you feel you need more then the continental breakfast offered as complimentary with the room. Regarding the seafood platter, there are times that when it is available to buy from the local we will be able to offer in the menu. We wish you all the best in this life

My partner and I stayed for 10 nights over the Christmas/New Year period in this wonderful resort. We had a beachfront fare where you walked straight out onto the sand and then on to the ocean, infinity pool or restaurant/bar. The Breakas staff were very friendly and made us feel welcome the whole time. Meals were outstanding, the menu was comprehensive and if you couldn't find something you liked then you were very hard to please. Our fare with its outdoor shower was one of the best rooms we've stayed in anywhere. And I must mention....no kids, only a few bogans here and there. We would return to Breakas without hesitation and enjoy the wonderful relaxing "feet in the sand" experience.

Great adults only resort we found when escaping “The Moso” another more expensive, less safe and for us much less desirable, isolated resort off the coast of Port Vila. Breaka’s has fresh fruit even though less available after the cyclones. Breakfast each day is a treat with so much on offer to serve yourself or order specialities from the menu. Not in the main part of Port Bila but close enough to allow easy access via shuttle buses which pass the door regularly. Staff are all wonderful and ready to help, the only problem was caused by poor communications regarding ongoing Air Vanuatu flight cancellations. Due to incoming guest expectations once our flights were cancelled it became a big problem to book back into rooms as there were 800 stranded in the island all trying to get home at the time. Stressful time to be in Vanuatu during Sept. school holidays 2023. Very poorly handled by the airline who didn’t own up to creating such havoc or looking after their paying passengers, accommodation staff or associates.
Despite this disastrous holiday we met some lovely people and staff and locals around this resort were beautiful & happy which made it much better than it could have been. Highly recommend this exceptional resort for location, amenities, food & beverage offerings and value, although a premium resort the prices charged are not excessive. 😍🌴🍹🐠🍍

We arrived after midnight, and staff were available to show us to our bungalow. We had the view across the bay from the beachfront position. We found the hut very comfortable. The is no airconditioning, but the room is very airy, has fan and a comfortable bed. Bathroom is large with a no roof shower running hot and cold water. You are surrounded by sand so get used to dusting your feet on entering your room. The restaurant and bar surround the pool which is always warm. Food was excellent with a hint of Italian inspiration. There is a happy hour at 5pm and a large choice of cocktails. Swimming in the ocean out front and you may see some grazing dugongs. The resort is isolated currently by the worst road in Port Vila but it is a local joke. Transport is required to go most places so buses and taxis are readily available. Only pay 150 vatu for a bus into city. We had a great 7 days there. The staff are great and always helpful for tours, suggestions and cultural tips.
