Detailed Reviews
Recently me and my family went to this hotel and spent a fabulous week. It was my second time there, but this one was better by far. The hotel staff was very helpful and friendly with all our requests. The room was wide like a small apartment with a main room, a living room a small kitchen and of course a bath.
3 restaurants (pasta, tipical Colombian Caribbean food and a buffet) and a snack bar.
1 pool bar and 1 beach bar.
Transport from hotel to Downtown and viceversa.
Pros:
The staff is the main pro. Very kind.
Two swimming pools, one for those with a fun spirit and the other one to sit and rest with the tranquility.
Classical and funny pool and night events.
The site is isolated from public vendors as is the beach.
Cons:
If you plan to common site in historic Cartagena and don’t rent a car then you should have to spend extra money in transport even though you can use the hotel buses.
I didn’t like the room floor, it’s a little out-fashioned.
Beach sand is not that clear, too dark for me (that’s not hotel’s fault)

We had a family reunion and had a fantastic time. We can say that the staff at Hotel Estelar made this vacation a very pleasant and memorable experience.
Not so far from the airport (20 minutes, around $10 dollars/45,000 pesos) There is a swimming pool just for adults, a small pool for babies and 2 swimming pools for families. The hotel has a nice beach, the sand is very fine, dark with specks of shiny materials, no rocks, very pleasant to walk barefoot. There are plenty of chairs and umbrellas. Only a couple of vendors with beautiful crafts and good prices. Due to local regulations, it closes after sunset.
The food was very good: buffets for breakfast and lunch. You need to make reservations for dinner (3 small restaurants available) we ate early and had no issues, but service may be slow when it gets busy ( they may need more staff). Local dishes were delicious, they also bake fresh bread products every day! and kids enjoyed getting hamburgers and skewers after swimming. The international night had great paella and Mexican favorites. Waiters were great accommodating our big group, Belkys and the morning crew were very sweet with our children. When they learned our youngest loved granadillas, they made sure she had always a full plate of this delicious fruit.
At dinner tine, Carlos helped us making sure food was safe for our son who has food allergies.
The rooms were clean, fresh with balconies to enjoy the nature surrounding the buildings. Beautiful flowers everywhere ! We saw many kinds of birds, iguanas and lizards. It is a tropical place, bring bug repellent. There are working cats and a couple of friendly dogs roaming around. They didn’t bother anyone, keep to themselves looking for shadow .
There were movies and dancing shows at night. The dancers were very good and the presenter was hilarious.
Noemí helped us planning activities in Cartagena, her recommendations were very good:: a private city tour was a better deal, a day excursion to islas del rosario that included the aquarium and a Eco-fishing trip that the families will never forget (fishing for crabs in the ciénaga).
There is a little store where you can get all your needs and beautiful souvenirs. We greatly appreciated that the prices were not inflated ( traveling with children, you always need extra stuff). We got presents for everyone there, Much better prices than at the airport.
Overall, we highly recommend this hotel!

The hotel is located in Playa Manzanillo, only 15 minutes away from the airport. The premises are in good condition and kept well. The staff is friendly. The room was comfortable and away from the main entrance (the three buildings are within walking distance of everything in the hotel).
Check-in process was a bit slow. To reach the operator from our room was hard sometimes as the phone kept ringing and no one answered. However, when we finally reached someone, they tended to our requests fairly soon. The gym needs major improvements.
The beach is private and there are no other hotels next to it so you get a feel of seclusion and the city of Cartagena is only 25 minutes away if you book with the concierge the shuttle service that goes there 5 times a day and also picks you up from the old city at the specified times.
This is a hotel mostly for families and I recommend it for a short stay. No more than 3 days. The food was good, but the best one is served for dinner at the Nativo restaurant. Book your dinners on the first day of your stay with the concierge, as he is a busy man.

Worst value for money experience. Please don’t book here expecting a good and luxurious experience for the money you pay. The hotel is deteriorating beyond repair. The check in system is a disaster, we had to wait 2 hours to check in. They claimed their system is slow but actually they were disorganised. The beach was nice and water too but the chairs were old broken and uncomfortable( cheap white beach chairs ). The food was amazing that’s why I don’t give it a terrible rating and the service was mostly very good . However the organisation is very poor , especially for the food and a la carte system . You never know what’s happening and why and when . The drinks were of course the cheapest alcohol you can find with the cheapest mixers . For the price you pay they could of at least choose a mid tier liquor and mixers. There is no mini bar, all you get is a bottle of water each day , the mini bar fridge is empty and doesn’t cool . Another downside was that you always have to walk to the bar and no one serves you at the pool or beach . Night activities is just a bunch of loud music that you can hear until 1 am in your room . Not kid friendly or focused . No activities for kids , more for people to get wasted . Walls of the rooms are paper thin, you hear your next door neighbour talk almost clearly . The gym is so small even for a small hotel and since this is a big one then it’s always full and you can exercise . The machines are ancient and rusty and falling apart. Now to the people that come to this hotel, I’m not Colombian but my brother in law and wife told me that the people are very uneducated and trashy . This was confirmed by numerous wasted patrons that were shouting and rude almost every night. People were quite rude. Lastly ,ONLY 4 staff at the hotel spoke English ( 2 receptionist and 2 bar men) the rest don’t speak anything other then Spanish . This place is not for international tourists . Anyways the food was really good snd service was mostly good.”, however do not recommend.

Hotel is in decadence, needs urgent maintenance and better service.
Before we even arrived we could not reach anyone by phone although we tried for 3 days. We wanted to ask for early check-in and late check-out and willing to pay for it. As nobody answered we mailed the hotel, receiving as response drafted ambiguous answers with no direct solution to our requests.
We were looking for a long weekend with baby and elders in a quiet place with all included. What we found was a hotel with less than safe rooms for babies, having to do lines for food for a 93yo elder and loud music everywhere (if not provided by hotel, it does not ask guests to refrain to have loud music un pool or beach).
Everything crowded because of poor procedures, signals and directions, so do not expect bio-safety or social distancing being enforced.
At some hours they seem understaffed and its clearly visible that the hotel has not had good maintenance for a while.
My feeling is that the hotel serves you as if they were doing you a favor or instead of getting what you payed for.
For the price you pay, there are other options. Do not waste your money neither your valuable holiday time.

The attention of the collaborators is excellent, very helpful.
The food is fresh and on time, the cleaning of the rooms is just as punctual.
However, we must start working on these things:
- There is no Bolirrana or other type of games area.
- The bar is already very small for the number of guests. The people who serve play music to their liking and may get upset if you ask them for a song.
- The live shows are very nice but it sounds repetitive since it is the third time I have come and they do the same thing.
- They should consider some type of mini disco to make bigger night plans since it is only listening to music and having to go to bed early.

The staff is wonderful! To highlight the excellent service and attitude of all the collaborators with whom we had the opportunity to meet during the stay.
Having said that, I would describe the hotel as noisy, the music from the family pool is so loud that it carries all the way to the beach... The place to order drinks has other music blaring all the way to the snack place.
The only quiet place was the quiet pool, which we never knew from the website was exclusively for adults. So we had to ask permission to enter this pool with my family so we could rest. The pool is deteriorated and cracked, the cleanliness is questionable.
They take you off the beach at 6pm, it is not possible to see the sunset because the lifeguard takes you out.
The rooms are not soundproof, we heard the neighbors all night and they also smoked in the room... We asked for change and fortunately they gave it to us. The air conditioners are old and make noise... A lot of noise...
As for food, the rich breakfasts, the very regular buffet lunch (compensation box type) and the dinners with its three restaurants are of acceptable quality.
The hotel is far from the city, it is small and with few activities to do.
It is a shame to leave this review because the staff, as I said at the beginning, was wonderful.

There are many aspects to consider:
I will start with the positive aspects:
-Very good attention from the staff, really they always cared to solve any situation.
Quiet place.
-Broad beach, the hotel has organized spaces with chairs and tents available for guests. No additional fees.
Varied food, very good seasoning.
It is only 20 or 30 minutes from Cartagena, it is very easy to go to the city and it is not expensive. In addition the Hotel has available at specific times a bus that takes you to the city and brings you back.
-Typical food restaurant, which is put in service for lunchtime, I found the best, not least because of the varied dishes, because it is closed, has air conditioning and do not allow animals to enter
Aspects to consider:
-The restaurant is open and allow dogs and cats who reportedly live in the hotel. I know a lot of people don't mind, but you hope that in a hotel you don't have to go through those situations. They should at least control this situation somewhat.
-Although I made my Reservation in advance and confirmed them on two occasions, even the day before I traveled, when I arrived at the hotel I had a slightly annoying situation as the person who attended me stated that there was only one reservation. Even though I gave her the two codes they sent me and the payment records she insisted there was only one. I had to download and present bank statements of the cards with which I paid where the payment was recorded. After almost an hour the lady finally found the two reservations and explained that they had already assigned one of them to another guest.
Although they found the reservations of the two rooms we were located in two different blocks, quite separate, which was uncomfortable because when traveling in a group of friends one wants to be close. I think they should improve that aspect because by a mistake of a person or a platform generate discomfort to guests.
The hotel is ideal for Family Trips as the sea in this sector is very mild. It's a very normal hotel. If you have expectations of luxury and comfort is not the place. The price is right for what they offer.
Thanks to the staff who were always very attentive and willing.

Hotel located at the upcoming Manzanillo area, roughly 20 minutes from the old city in Cartagena. Transportation shuttles from and to Cartagena as well as the airport.
Overall, excelent amenities and very well staffed, although at the buffet on some stations the lacked the number of people needed to tend to the growing line of guests.
We had some issues with trash left by other guests at public areas of the hotel which were reported to the hotel staff (Davinson @Concierge desk) and were addressed in a timely manner.
Hotel has two pools, an active pool which has an entertainer who keeps guest energy high, and a passive pool where you can relax.
It also has a private beach which unfortunately is closed for security reasons at night and could not take an evening walk.
Any needs deemed by guests are welcomed at the Concierge's desk with Davinson who was very friendly and manages outside restaurant reservations and trips to the nearby Islas del Rosario.

They should improve the beach. Make it look like a beach that you pay for and not a public beach. They should invest in the furniture that is already old, they should clean it permanently, rake sand, plant more grass, improve the lifeguard hut, make it a new modern one, demarcate the safe area within the water, they should make a luxury beach. They could make a dock, they could put lights on it to walk on it at night. They could put some detail and simple taste into it and make it not look so poor.
