Detailed Reviews
The Nan Seasons Resort was an excellent choice. We were offered an upgrade to the residence at a reasonable price and were highly satisfied with this exceptional accomodation. Very spacy and comfortable, lots of privacy, a great view, tasteful furniture and excellent service. We also much enjoyed the small but very nice and easily accessable pool. Kas, one of the owners, is an excellent host. He used to live in the Netherlands before and you can feel that he loves what he is doing, in particular taking care of the beautiful garden. Besides, Mandy (she is in charge of the reception and a lot, lot more) is the soul of the business. She loves to laugh and she really tries to satisfy your wishes before you even think about it. For us, it was the mango for breakfast! And yes, breakfast was excellent, you even get three kinds of fresh juices plus a good selection of Thai and western dishes. The only thing, we didn't completely like, was the dinner in the evening. For us, is was too much western style and a bit too expensive for what you get especially considering the fact, that we still were kind of hungry when we left.
Due to the overall beauty of the place and the very kind and personal service we felt quite sad when we had to leave and we would love to come back again.

This is an amazing place. From the warm welcome onwards, it just got better and better. The grounds are fabulous and the cabins are spaced out around the site. The cabins are tastefully decorated and the owners have spent a lot of time on attending to the details. The beds were sooo comfortable. We loved the sitting area in our cabin (with its large screen TV, which we didn't use) and the very efficient aircon. We also liked the fact that the aircon for the sitting area was independent from the aircon in the large bedroom. Our cabin had a large deck with seating and views over fields to the mountains in the distance. Magical. And the food was awesome as was the choice of drinks. The owners spent some time with all the guests and seemed genuinely pleased that we were staying with them.

I stayed for 2 nights at the Nan Seasons Boutique Resort and found it very relaxing and comfortable. It is a bit out of town in the middle of rice fields, affording excellent views for a sundowner. The owners were very helpful in arranging transport and helping me organize my travels in Nan and the surrounding area.
The restaurant has delicious food and an excellent variety of meat, fish, and vegetarian options. I highly recommend this hotel if you plan to visit Nan town. The resort also has a pool to help cool down after a day of sight-seeing.

We were looking forward to our Nan stay as we had planned white water rafting and a cooking class with elephants through the hotel. On arrival, due to monsoon rain, which could not be helped, we were informed that our excursions were cancelled. This left a bitter taste as we were in contact with the hotel days before and they did not mention any of this. We then we’re encouraged to book another private city tour which included salt mines. I asked about this and one staff member said salt mines might not be possible due to rain, so I replied asking if they are sure? The staff member then asked another staff member and said actually it is fine and booked the tour for us. We then found out only during the tour that this was not the case and we could not visit the salt mines.
The tour was pretty good besides that however, considering the amount of rain there was, and the tour guide was very kind and hospitable.
This ended up being an expensive leg of the trip though, with an upgraded room that was communicated to us as being an extra 700 baht only, however it ended up being an extra 700 baht per night which I only found out when checking the costs during checkout. To avoid unnecessary hassle I didn’t say anything and just paid it. At this point we just wanted to move on to the next leg of our trip.
The room was quite nice, however there are some small things worth mentioning. Firstly, there was no hot water in the shower. I did mention this once to staff but nothing was really done about it. Secondly, the mosquito net over the bed had dead mosquitos in it and wasn’t really cleaned properly as part of the daily cleaning of rooms. Other hotels we have stayed in have mosquito repellent incense sticks which smell nice and have worked well, something that could be done for the rooms here I think.
Upon leaving Nan, our plans changed and we needed to get a taxi from Nan to Chiang Rai. I spoke with the Dutch owner Roger about this and he helpfully booked us transportation and assured us that because he gives a lot of business to this taxi company, that he got a reduced price for us down from ~5500 baht to only 4300 baht. This all seemed great however the taxi actually ended up being the husband of our tour guide driving us in their car, and it was all paid during hotel checkout.
All in all Nan was an interesting place to visit and staff were nice but at times tended to feel a bit overbearing. As we were the only guests there it feels like they tried to do everything they could in the nicest way possible to get more money from us and have it all done through their resort, which was not cheap at all. Even when we wanted just to go to explore Nan city on our own and asked for a restaurant recommendation, we were politely asked why we don’t just eat at the resort restaurant (although did eventually get recommended a good restaurant in the city).
I feel this is a small business with nice enough staff but needs some improvements as we left us feeling rather bittersweet.

Lovely setting in rice fields a short distance from Nan town. The rooms are stand-alone buildings in a beautiful, lush garden. The service was very helpful and attentive - nothing was too much trouble. I recommend the day trips too!

Bungalow 5, view of rice fields
Located a little outside of Nan. The beautiful bungalows are located in a beautifully landscaped garden, some of which have a view over the rice fields. Unfortunately, when we were there (early March) there was no rice on it. The bungalow is very spacious, made entirely of teak wood, and also has an outdoor terrace. The resort is owned by a Dutch-Thai couple, Rogier and Kas. Both are very cordial and helpful, including arranging trips in the city or surrounding area.
The restaurant, called Lemongrass, looks like a large living room and feels like one too. An excellent breakfast is served with a surprise snack beforehand, a different one every day. Dinner is also fine. The staff is also very friendly.
We had taken a tour with a driver through Nan. That driver knew a lot about his city and its sights. We also made a day trip with a friendly driver to Pua, a town further north. Nice trip with many sights such as a museum with contemporary art. This resort in the unknown north of Thailand is highly recommended.

It is absolutely perfect! The staff are delightful, welcoming, always ready to chat and offer advice about where to go and what to see, which for us as first time visitors to Nan was really appreciated.
The cabins are super comfortable, beautifully decorated and have fast internet and huge screen TVs. The gardens and pool are beautiful, everything is impeccably maintained. The meals are absolutely delicious, loads of organic ingredients and wonderful vegetarian options. Extensive wine and beer selections.
Many thanks Khun Roger and Khun Kas and all the staff for making our trip very memorable.

Dear Jain08, Thank you for your lovely review of The Nan Seasons Resort! It makes me very happy to see that our staff training program "FROM THE HEART IS THE ONLY WAY" is giving fruit. To be visible and approachable for guests is as important as to demonstrate the desire to make our guests smile, no matter if we can speak the same language or not. I will share your comments with all our staff (F&B team, House-keeping team, front desk team and Garden team). Whenever you come back to Nan please let us know and we will do our best to impress you ones again. Thank you! Warmest regards, Rogier Buikes Hotelier
