The B&B is in a Victorian school building filled with antiques and curios. We were fortunate to get a late booking. We were accommodated in a timber built cottage in the grounds. It had a bunk bed but that was a novelty and comfortable. Breakfast was plentiful with espresso coffee, fresh mangos and berries and other quality ingredients. Our hosts... More

My wife went here a few weeks ago and was dying to show me. If you love antiques and unique places combined this is well worth a visit. You could spend hours browsing, eating and drinking in this place which consists of an an antique shop, cafe, bar and hotel. The owner and family are alsolovely

A last minute booking, and found just by chance, a brilliant Bed and Breakfast Hotel, the couple who own it (who's name I forgot sorry) made us feel welcome and at home, the breakfast was hot and plenty. The hotel had Antiques and collectables all around which will keep you entertain for hours. This 150 year old school house, which... More

In the village centre is this excellent guest house. Comfortable rooms, bar lounge and restaurant. Charming family run establishment. Good food both at dinner and breakfast, cooked fresh. Parking at front. Family pets a delight. We will be staying again.

We were disturbed to see a cat and a dog in the hall just outside the kitchen. There were no locks on the bedroom door. Clutter everywhere including the room. Breakfast was average. Nice location and parking.

Apologies for not responding at the time. We appreciate your feedback and have taken note. Chalk and Cheese is our home as well as our business but we completely understand that some people would prefer not to encounter our family pets so we are taking more care with this aspect as a result of your feedback. We were made to feel extremely welcome at this quirky B&B, and provided with some much-needed tea and biscuits on arrival in a sitting-room packed to the gunwhales with a remarkably eclectic collection of much-loved 'objets' from all over the world. Our room was comfortable and cosy, with a spacious bath and shower-room, and the 'bespoke' breakfast in the conservatory... More

I absolutely loved my stay at Chalk and Cheese. It very much felt like I had stayed with family. I will definitely be staying again. The room was lovely, nothing was too much trouble and I absolutely loved getting a greeting from the furry residents each day! The building is very quirky as was the room, which I loved, the... Some diners refer to the restaurant as quirky, for me, like Marmite......Luv it or Hate it! Maybe Hate it is too harsh. Following a visit, I considered the restaurant over priced for pizza (and not as enjoyable) compared to the pizzas offered in the many chain restaurants. Okay may be these are cooked in the real pizza oven but I... More
