I highly recommend this hotel as number 1 place to visit in Antigua! Good value for the price charged and its very rare that we leave a review here but we just had too. Beautiful surroundings and a perfect location. All staff were welcoming to our guests but we have to mention 1 staff in particular….TELISHA! “Telisha thank you whole heartedly for all the effort and hard work you put in to make my guests stay special. Nothing was to much for you. You was always so kind, efficient, professional and that doesn’t happen all the time in the business with members of staff in hotels worldwide. Even in a covid restricted time you were amazing.” Even though we left a very attractive tip for Telisha no amount would of been enough but we thought we had to do it as a kind gesture to show are appreciation. Telisha is a true asset to the Royalton hotel and she definitely adds value to the time guests have stayed there and for that reason we will be naming Royalton Number 1 place to stay in Antigua. Thanks to Isharna also for the birthday package organisation and birthday gift! Telisha even went out of her way to purchase a birthday card every request was honoured and they paid attention to detail. So to everyone considering booking here do not hesitate Set right next to a beach create beautiful memories. Perfection and food choice was great from what my guests said If there were more than 5 star we would click more stars thanks until next time Wow vip team! Syreeta

Way under staffed, and the ones that is there aren't very friendly. Service for anything food, drinks, questions was not on their agenda. When we arrived they put our wrist bands on, and said have a nice stay. I asked well can I at least have a map so I can find room. Water was pretty other than that.

We are having a wonder time in Antigua. Shandell, our butler, has been amazing our entire stay. He has been attentive to all of our needs. From mixed by the pool to ice cream while we suns bathe. Thank you Shandell for a wonderful stay. We are members of the Diamond Club and it is worth the extra cash.

The hotel is set up in a fantastic location with great views and amenities within the hotel. The design of the hotel is 4-5 star and the hotel has the potential to be 5 star however it is let down by the management, processes which impact the customer and therefore the staff. There are some great members of staff but the majority are very unhappy and unhelpful. However, when you meet the management you can see exactly why. Alton, one of the managers is one the most unpleasant, unprofessional people we have ever come across. So when you have a manger like this who doesn’t care about customers, there is no surprise that this is passed onto the rest of the team. We got married at The Royalton and Brenda the wedding planner is absolutely fantastic, however the hotel really let us down. We had booked and paid for a private dinner on the beach for a wedding meal, only to find 2 other couples on the beach with us (and one couple got engaged which wasn’t ideal at our wedding) the bar staff who were serving us constantly told us to go to the lobby bar as they obviously didn’t want to be there and then they ran out of sprite, rose wine and vodka but instead of arrange for replacements, we were told (at our wedding) we can’t have these drinks. Not what you’d expect! In the restaurants, they are understaffed with no processes to support them. For example reordering drinks to be stocked up ready for the next day. We frequently asked for many different drinks to be told they didn’t have them and this went on throughout the week without the stock being replenished. We had an issue with checking in where they said they didn’t have our booking so it took an hour to get checked in-not how you want to start your wedding celebrations by being told you don’t have a booking! The butler service is completely non-existent so please do not waste your money on upgrading to the diamond club as you get absolutely nothing for it! And finally, as I’ve previously mentioned, Alton one of the managers is absolutely awful. He accused the group of lying about an issue to do with a Covid test and was so unprofessional and aggressive. How he is in that role I have absolutely no idea but he is that bad that I would say do not travel to this hotel until he’s gone! A few people within our group have been to other Royalton hotels and have had great experiences, it seems to be this one that lets the group down. Thankfully, we still had a good time because of our group and getting married however I wouldn’t come back here based on our experience.

I have been to Antigua many times, and I am honestly in love with the Island. I first visited this Royalton resort with my wife in September 2019. This resort has regressed massively since this point. Check in - Upon arriving at the resort, there was no record of our booking or reservation. We had to prove we had a reservation. We luckily had printed out all the documents around this before we left to travel. Due to this, we were waiting around twenty to thirty minutes to check-in. Not a great start after fourteen hours of travelling. Once we arrived in our room - the floor was dirty, and it had seemed like no-one had stayed there for a while - however, we were understanding as we are currently coming out of a pandemic. Our bags took around two hours after we checked in to arrive at our room - causing us to go to an early dinner with the clothes we had been wearing for the flight, from the not-so-sunn England. Food - The food in general, across most of the restaurants left a lot to be desired. It was significantly better on our last stay. The highlight of the food is the Carribean grill. Sadly, that is where the high points end. The Gourmet Marche this time, seemed like there was no care - or attention in the preparation of the majority of the food - and, the selection significantly smaller than last time (even though the resort seems to be accommodating more guests). The Hunters Steak house, and the Italian restaurant are - ‘okay’ at best. Service - Now, I’m going to break service down into a few parts. Firstly, the Dinner service - from the wait staff. Secondly, the ‘Vibe team’, also the ‘virtual butler service’ and, finally - I would argue the most important staff - the management, who are who you turn to when there is an issue. Dinner Service - In General, the service was quite good, with staff being very attentive. Staff are always polite, and happy to help/assist. Vibe Team - Dealing with the Vibe team was a pleasure, if you are hanging around by the pool - they will come over, have a chat - hand out drinks for the people sitting about, and essentially bring some life into the resort. Virtual Butler Service - This should not be a thing. On my last stay, I had a significantly better experience with staff assigned to myself, without even being part of the Diamond club. Using this service, I have so far had a 50% chance of my reservation actually being in the restaurant when I show up, and I have been told incorrect information about the activities going on in the resort - which I have had to go down to the diamond lounge, to correct/confirm. Finally, the Management - Now, firstly, I will say, I had a particularly bad experience on this front - I personally feel, for a customer oriented business, the staff are both inadequate, and significantly out of their depth. Most of this comes from an experience I had on the fourth day of my stay. For the first few nights of my stay, there was condensation in my room - I would argue quite a large amount - Mainly on the mirrors, but I made the assumption that the maintenance staff know what they’re doing and that this is likely usual for the climate. On the fourth day, my wife was to teach an online class, and she set up her aluminum laptop the night before - on a desk, with the lid open, ready to teach in the morning (it was an afternoon class, which she was able to teach, in the morning in Antigua). When we woke up the next morning, we went to breakfast, and then got back into the room, my wife’s laptop would not turn on. Upon further inspection - there was quite a lot of moisture around a keyboard protector on her laptop. Luckily, after a few (nine) hours, the laptop started to work again, however, during the period of the laptop not turning on, we had maintenance turn up to our room, adjust a valve (which magically make the condensation go away), accuse us of setting the AC on too low of a temperature, which was causing the issue with the condensation along with implying that this was our fault - Operating the room, within the limits that it is set to be configured. We essentially lost a day of our holiday, as the staff seemed to want to fit - to us, quite a serious issue, around their tasks for the day, and it took nine hours, until the laptop started turning on again, for us to think we should just leave the issue. I have never been treated like this by a resort in the past, and I can not even begin to fathom how staff members think this is a reasonable issue, to firstly not be of very high priority, and secondly, attempt to shift blame due to mis-use of the room. I have attached photos of the condensation levels within the room. When I say, everything in the room had a thin layer of water on it - Everything did. I wish I could say more positive things about this resort, as I spent my honeymoon here, a couple of years ago, and it will be a special place to me due to this. I was thinking of extending my stay, until this issue occurred, however I will now likely go home/look at other resorts. The Gym - The gym is well stocked, however when my wife went recently, there was only minimal lighting turned on in the gym. She ended up running for forty minutes in the dark. Swimming Pools - The infinity pools, with swim-up bar are quite nice. The service there is quite good, and the Vibe team hovering around there brings some life to the party. Beach - The beach is honestly very good, it is often frequented by locals on the other side of the beach, showing the quality it holds within the local community. There is a small lake off to the side of the resort, that could be used for much more, and, sadly, even through sailing is listed, the sailboat - when I have asked, has been out of action on both of my stays, Hopefully that didn’t come as too much of a rant. TL;DR: This resort is hitting way under potential, and is not what it is billed to be.
