We stayed here for 2 weeks. Nico and her team (especially Hilder and Miner) could not have been more friendly and welcoming. Only review I have ever written online and just to say thank you and hope to see you soon!

My husband and I just returned from Costa Rica and our time at Ojo Del Mar was one of the highlights of our trip. Rustic but charming rooms, incredible location, outrageously good food, the NICEST people, and a welcoming lobby to read, to rest, or connect over the beautiful communal table. Just good vibes all around, and who doesn't love an outdoor shower? Due to my husband's health, we needed to leave the lodge earlier than anticipated. Nico and staff had every right to charge me for the entire stay, but they didn't, and instead, Hilder gave me one of the best hugs of my entire life. That's what makes Ojo Del Mar different, their love for what they do. This is demonstrated through their friendly and informative welcome, the ongoing care of your room, the delicious meals and their efforts to accommodate special diets, and the personal touches that make everything that more relaxing. Lots of love and memories at Ojo del Mar. You must go.

Ojo del Mar far exceeded our expectations - such a unique lodging experience incredibly close to nature (the howler monkeys will wake you up early in the morning)! Within hours of arrival, we saw several species of animals around the property. The lodging was so quaint and comfortable. The food was absolutely incredible! Nico and her wonderful staff accommodated our group's varied dietary needs with plenty of creative options for everyone to enjoy. The yoga shala was absolutely stunning and views around the property breathtaking. I can't recommend Ojo del Mar enough!

Lovely stay. Thank you Niki, Miner, Hilder and the cooks, who made breakfast. We stayed in the beach house and had our morning coffee on the second floor while watching the macaws. Early beach walks saw parrots, macaws, pelicans, horses, water birds, coatis, spider and howler monkeys, people fishing, hermit crabs and interesting geology (blue sand !?). We visited the Piro research station, close by but all our rental could handle. Stay for the evening group meals, enjoy the building construction from your hammock. All was great.

If you are looking for a truly immersive experience in the jungle without backpacking for multiple days, this is your place. The cabinas are all open air, as is the outdoor shower. A whole troop of howler monkeys were traversing overhead my first morning there! Even though we hiked in corcovado national park, we saw nearly all the same wildlife at Ojo. And the food- oh the food! Our group had nearly every allergy/dietary need you can name, and every single meal was delectable. Niko and her staff are beautiful humans, who are gracious enough to share their gifts with us. Forever grateful for this lodge! Can't wait to go back!

Ojo Del Mar not only offers your eyes views of the most beautiful sea, it offers your heart the opportunity to settle and be held by the abundance of the magical Peninsula de Osa. This enchanting ecolodge, nestled in one of the most biologically diverse places on earth, will truly stimulate all of your senses! The property has a lush, unique design that makes you feel like you’re the only person staying at the lodge. Embrace the cries of howler monkeys, as you watch the sunrise over your own, private beach. Sip on some of the finest coffee, lounging in a hammock in Casa Grande, or pass the day nestled between the ocean and the creek, where you can bathe in a fresh water pool, or walk along the pristine beaches of Golfo Dolce. The pool is perfect for an evening soak, watching the dogs (Nacho and Gizmo) entertain you, as your hosts prepare some of the finest cuisine on the Osa. Nico’s attention to detail, and continuous effort to accommodate the unique needs of her guests, will make you feel right at home. The humble staff will feel like family by the time you leave and you will find yourself returning to this oasis, year after year. I highly recommend staying for at least a week, as it takes some time to settle into the jungle vibes of the Osa🦋💛🌺

My Family of seven spent four unforgettable nights with Nico and her staff. Everything about her place is magical! The location, the layout, the architecture of the cabanas, the food and the wildlife all make this place perfect! Nico is super helpful in helping you schedule tours and transportation. One of the highlights of every day was the communal dinner that Nico and her staff would prepare. Every night we would sit with the other guest from around the world and enjoy great conversation and amazing food! We met new friends and experienced a trip that we will never forget! Hope to visit again!

We are a family of four with kids ages 10 and 13. We stayed in the beach cabina. It was an amazing experience. The food and hospitality were top notch. Yes, you will wake early with the birds and monkeys but that just makes for a longer day in paradise. We compensated by going to bed earlier. The cabina was immaculate and we did not see a single creepy crawlie. Just a few geckos here and there. We did see amazing birds, monkeys, lizards, agouti, and lobsters. Mosquitos love me, but in this part of Costa Rica, I was not bothered at all by any biting insects. After the first night getting used to jungle sounds, we all slept well. Bring ear plugs and eye masks if you are a light sleeper! The Ojo staff go out of their way to make your experience the best ever. I recommend that your book all your tours directly though Nico and Ojo. Ojo now has some electricity in the cabinas, which was a welcome addition. If you’re on the fence, I suggest you do it! Much more affordable than many lodges in the area.

It has been a little over a week since we left and the visual memories of Ojo del Mar are filling my every inch. This ocean side lodge checked all of the boxes for our family of four. (kids ages 11 and 14) If you like camping, the space will feel luxurious as you are nested among a gorgeous tropical landscape in open aired bungalows that feel very private, rustic, yet well designed. Being nestled in the jungle, the access to wildlife is incredible. Bring your binoculars and be patient and the fauna will be at your doorstep. There is also a fresh water river near the property that summons a huge diversity of birdlife that is super accessible. It can't go without saying that Niko and her staff are AMAZING!. This is a eco-lodge that walks the walk and they do it with experience and ease. The central shared space and yoga pavillion are gorgeous to be inside. Niko is clearly invested in what she has built and works along side of a handful of locals in a family like atmosphere that fills the spaces with joy..... Keep in mind the restaurant options locally are minimal. When we were there, Martinas was closed still for the rainy season. We had a couple lunches at Canta la vida (20 min walk) but mainly relied on Ojo del Mar for meals. You will not be disappointed. I am a chef by trade and was super excited by the offerings ranging from tropically inspired pad thai and tuna to indian style cauliflower koftes on homemade bun..always with plentiful veggie sides and creative sauces. The beach is rocky out front, there are 3 breaks within walking distance and the surf breaks range from a 10-40 minute walk depending on skill level. Surf boards can be rented at Canta la Vida . We didn't have a car so relied on hiring a few guides for daytime adventures that got us deeper into the landscape and afforded us some adventures we wouldn't be able to have on our own. I highly recommend the horseback/ treeclimb/ waterfall repel as well as the golfo dulce water boat tour where we saw a baby calf and humpback and were surrounded by a pod of 400 dolphins. We couldn't ask for a better experience. If you love nature, are not afraid of creepy crawlies and want an authentic experience on the Osa then this is the place for you. Enjoy!
