People raved about this place, and I wish our group could rave as well, But we just can't. Many things are great here. The rooms have beautiful views and are well-decorated, cleaned every day, have turn-down service. The restaurant staff is very friendly and attentive. The hotel's efforts for eco-tourism and sustainability are really quite amazing. We did the Pigs/twigs...

Dear Thyme8, greetings from the Osa Peninsula. The rains have ceased and things are finally drying up now. We would like to sincerely thank you for this great review. Of course, we would prefer Five Star ratings all the time, but we know that we still have things that we need to work on and improve. We strive to exceed...

I absolutely love this corner of the world. Staying at Lapa Rios has been life changing! Flying with Nature Air from San Jose to Puerto Jimenez and having amazing views from above including seeing the active Turrialba volcano spew ashes, and then landing on the tiny air strip in Puerto Jimenez, along side the cemetery is a story and adventure...

We have traveled to 8 different countries and stayed in many types of accommodations. Lapa Rios is our favorite! From the minute Frank picked us up at the airport, we felt welcomed. All of the staff made a point to greet us by name and made sure that any wish we had was cheerfully met. We made friends with a...

Visited a few years ago. Nature at it's best. The grounds, hotel is well integrated into it's surroundings. Great hiking, running trails available. You can walk, run to the beach to enjoy the morning breeze. Wildlife a plenty, visible everywhere. Great staff/good people are available to optimize your nature experience.

Me and my boyfriend stayed at Lapa Rios for 5 nights and we enjoyed it so much. The hotel is located in the middle of a beautiful nature reserve, and there are wild animals all around the property. The rooms are cosy with a design inspired from the nature. In the morning we woke up from the sound of howler...

I work as a destination and adventure photographer so I travel more than 6 months every year. For me, it's important that I travel as sustainable as I can since nature is my favorite place to be. My girlfriend and I visited Lapa Rios for 5 nights and both of us are super impressed. The location is in the middle...

Although a perfect location at first sight, it was not what we expected. Being low season, they were building an extra bungalow, so we had construction noice from morning till evening. We've mentioned this, so they waited the next morning a few hours to start later. (Also because it was Sunday) There's a local gravel road close to our room,...

Lapa Rios was the last place we stayed and it truly made our trip! They booked our flight and picked us up in Puerto Jimenez. A short 30 minute drive to the lodge where we were greeted with smiles & an amazing drink. We never really checked in, they just said it's lunch time and escorted us to lunch, our...

My experience at Lapa Rios was really wonderful. The lodge is in a beautiful jungle overlooking the Golfo Dulce on the Pacific side of Costa Rica. Staff were at the airstrip awaiting my arrival when I got to Puerto Jimenez. After a short break I rode with Jose to the lodge. He pointed out various places and animals/birds along the...

I am a travel agent in Costa Rica so I visit a lot of hotels. With that, honestly it can make me have some high expectations when visiting a 5 star hotel. I had visited Lapa Rios a couple years ago and thought the food wasn't worth the price people were paying. However, this year I returned with my boyfriend...
