This place is the ultimate in Eco luxury. Totally off the grid, you need to fly into Puerta Jimenez then be driven by the lodge driver to the resort. You are met with cool towels and a welcome drink and the most amazing staff I have found in Costa Rica. Service with a smile at all times! The food is... More

I was traveling around Osa Peninsula with my boyfriend for our vacation and after having fun on a 4x4 all terrain road trip from Jimenez we arrived at Cabo Matapalo without having a clue where to stay for the night (we usually do not reserve and find a place day by day, it's always a surprise!) We found Lapa Rios... More

This resort is beautifully situated rooms in the jungle. Staff are friendly and helpful and the food is plentiful but repetitive and not that great. Cold poached eggs, over cooked bacon and inconsistent quality were of issue for us. The menu did not change over the five nights we were there and most mornings we waited over an hour for... More

From the moment we arrived we were in awe of this majestic place. Adventure, luxury and world class hospitality awaits you if you visit Lapa Rios. We saw many birds, butterflies, reptiles, and monkeys. The guides are extraordinary and super knowledgeable. Tips: bring quick drying travel clothes and comfortable shoes. They provide rain boots and walking sticks.

There's not a whole lot I can add to what has already been said. They do a wonderful job of caring for the guests but will never be mistaken for a Four Seasons. They are committed to treading lightly in the environment and supporting the local economy, hiring locals almost exclusively. The staff is a bit unpolished, sometimes getting a... More

we drove 10 hours from Monteverde in order to experience everything that we read about Lapa Rios. From the moment our foots stepped out of the car and until we left - We found ourselves ,looking, searching, laughing, feeling curious, asking and just using every minute to explore the nature that was presented to us at every step. This could... More

We spent 5 nights at Lapa Rios at the end of a 2 week visit to Costa Rica. We could have just gone here though and died happy! All the animals and birds we wanted to see and a whole host more, we saw, and many in the hotel grounds. It became a joke that we couldn't even just go... More

On the southwest coast of Costa Rica, this is a beautiful hidden location. We had wonderful accomodations, great meals, and amazing activities! Monkeys, sloths, macaws share this property with you! The guides are great and the waterfall hikes are fabulous.

This was one of the best places we have ever stayed. Our rooms were beautiful with a fantastic view of the Pacific Ocean where we watched dolphins jumping from our deck. It was the perfect break for all the family and nothing was too much trouble for the staff who were incredibly welcoming. The food was truly outstanding, with a... More

Wow! What a fabulous place. This was our first time to Costa Rica, and I cannot think of a better place to visit. We are a family of four with 17 and 19 year old children. We all LOVED Lapa Rios. The lodge is truly unique and staying there is wonderful experience. We all have memories that will last a... More
