Our stay at Ilio Mare Beach during last week of August 2020 was amazing.

Let me start with saying that this was during COVID-19 times, but we felt more safe and secure at the hotel and overall in Thassos than at home.

Perhaps the amount of people there was downsized due to restrictions, and that is why we had plenty space at the beach (at 10:00 am in the morning no issues with taking sunbeds in first line); it wasn't overcrowded; almost each morning and evening we could dine at the terrace.

When it comes to dining - if you decide to book your stay without taking HB or all incl. it will be your biggest mistake you can make. Food was absolutely delicious. It was ridiculously good, we thought we are in a Truman show or sth as never had we ever had such a good breakfasts and dinners at the hotel.

Each evening (we were there 7 nights) there was sth different, freshly prepared: it could be grilled meat, grilled fish or else, but if you wanted to have a choice and variety every day it wasn't a problem.

The only bad thing which happened was that Profiteroles weren't there everyday (probably every 2nd one) so you're forced to try sth different for your dessert :)

We weren't with kids, but I've spotted that there was always something prepared for them, either pasta with tomato sauce or meat sauce, fries, pancakes etc. So I guess families were happy too.

The team working at the restaurant was amazing, due to COVID they were placing all on your plates, but if you asked for 2 slice of bacon they would put 4 and say "it's holidays, you can eat". So if you are worried if COVID is going to ruin your experience, then no. It will just ruin your bikini body :)

Re: rooms, clean, spacious, tidy. It seems that the part near reception in the main building is renovated, so might be better quality. Therefore if you feel that's important during your stay then ask for those rooms. Pictures that are on Ilio Mare website are generally true, with a little bot of Instagram filter if you know what I mean :)

My overall rate: 10/10

Unique location and service! We enjoyed great weather and atmosphere even by the end of September (25-26 C). And definitely we will come back next year. Many thanks to the reception staff, chambermaids and the restaurant staff who took good care about everything around. Special compliments for the Chef of course - we have always liked the Greek cuisine, but he made it now exceptional!!! Lobster soup and lamb chops tasted more than delicious.
Best regards for the best in the business!
Interesting places to visit - The Archeological Museum and the old Amphitheatre of Thasos, the Marble beach, the La Scala Beach, Kavala old town by ferry. Ferry boat port is in the same village Skala Prinos and costs only 6.5 euro p.p. in one direction.
Wish you all good mood, many sunny days and smiles!

I rarely write reviews but felt compelled on this occasion.

How to rate a hotel in the middle of pandemic? It's a difficult question to answer. The sheer volume of decisions to be made and planning that must have been undertaken to simply open this hotel in the middle of a pandemic is, quite frankly, unimaginable to us guests. How many staff to hire? How many of the scheduled renovations should be carried out, and how many should be left until a more 'normal' summer? How many guests will arrive and how many will cancel?

My family and I booked this stay at Ilio Mare with just six weeks notice. We were betting on the hopes that we wouldn't have to quarantine when we returned to the UK. Accordingly, our expectations were minimal. We needed sun. We needed sand. We needed a drink in the evening. We got all of that and much more besides.

What we hadn't banked on was the overwhelming hospitality of the staff. They made our stay as comfortable and pain-free as possible, always going above and beyond what was required - especially in this climate. A seriously impressive group of people who have likely dealt with some incredible uncertainty this summer.

Are there nicer hotels in the world - of course. Could this hotel do with a bit of fresh paint here or there? Absolutely. Would I have liked to have a newer bathroom suite in my room? Sure.

But I wouldn't dream of holding any of the above against this hotel this summer.

The mere fact that these fantastic people opened their hearts, and their hotel, to us weary travellers in the middle of a pandemic should significantly override any grumbling about, say, the beach volleyball court not being in pristine condition this summer. Who cares.

Ilio Mare has been a fantastic experience for my family and I, and I would heartily recommend that you put your faith in them too. You will be richly rewarded for doing so.

Hello, I want to share about my stay at this hotel. First I want to share that the hotel in no way corresponds to 5 stars, but rather 2-3 stars
Most likely, when this hotel was first put into operation, it looked the way it is shown on its website, as well as on other booking sites.
The hotel has a tennis court - a tennis court that looks like a fenced jungle. The hotel has a pool that is yellower than a duck. The hotel has a restaurant where some of the tables are propped up with a napkin as they sway.
The hotel has a reception where the staff is in no way sociable, and even makes you wait for hours to receive a call from them and be accommodated in the hotel where they work.
I want to contact the real owner of this hotel and tell him, sir, this job is not for you and please do not lie to your customers with fake photos and information about your hotel.
I just want to praise the staff in the hotel restaurant, as well as in the bar, because of which this hotel is still functioning and thanks to which we hotel guests felt well served, cared for and always greeted with a smile.
Please reward these people.
I would like to thank the following: Maria, Skerdi, Ilias, Manos. Special thanks to Ioulia, this girl is an amazing professional and a great person. Thank you for your services.
With respect Radoslav Dobrev.

Not a 5 star hotel maybe 3 star. The room you have paid for might change until your arrival even if you have prepaid 30% 5 months before. Whatever happens you should not stay out in your garden suite area after 12:00, unless you wish to have a nice cold shower by surrounding sprinklers. Change of room allocation without prior notice! The staff made efforts to help but they had no room availability and enough options as its small hotel with few rooms of good standard!

The hotel is located near the beach separated by a street. a hotel for more families. very quiet, the hotel being located last in that village (resort). Good conditions, daily cleanliness, good food, free parking less sunbeds at the beach. a pass could be taken from the reception and so it was reduced by half.

We spent 1 week at the Ilios Mare with a big group of families and can warmly recommend. Although the hotel rooms could use some small upgrades (better bathrooms with newer hair dryers, some cosmetic upgrades, new lamps) the people working there are just awesome and have done their best to fulfill our wishes like changing rooms, extra bed sheets, etc. The hotel beach with lounge chairs and towels and the pool are beautiful and very relaxing and its wonderful
If you go, book a massage with Eva- you will relax fully.
Thank you for the wonderful vacation- hope to see you again soon.

This hotel is not a five star hotel, far from it. I stayed here with family the summer of 2021 and the experience was not the greatest. The reception area is nice and seems to have been renovated, the staff in the reception was also welcoming and helpful. But the rooms were not very good for a hotel with 5 stars.
The beds in our rooms were rock hard, your whole body will be aching after sleeping in these beds and you're not even able to roll over without feeling every bone in your body.

The bathroom condition was overall not nice. Spiderwebs in the corners, ants crawling over the floor, water flooding when taking a shower, toilet seat broken.

The room was also lacking when it came to cleaning - also here spiderwebs in the corners of the room, stains on lamps, doorframes, etc. The screendoor to the balcony was also broken and you had to lift it to be able to go out on the balcony.

I would recommend going to the beach instead of the pool. The pool needs to be cleaned. The beach was nice and had good tanning chairs. But don't bother using the buttons trying to get a hold of the staff, they don't work.

We stayed for a week as a couple. From the moment we arrived, we were treated like royalty. The staff is simply incredible. The room was spacious and was cleaned every day. The food was sooo good. We looked forward to breakfast and dinner every day. The beach was clean, lovely Kristos served us our morning frappe whilst we simply relaxed on the blue flag beach. We thank the hotel and staff, especially Kelly and the restaurant manager and his attentive and highly professional team for a very relaxing and beautiful experience.

We had heard a lot about this hotel so we decided to book it given that it had an all inclusive option. Although it is a nice beach-front hotel, it doesn’t give the impression of a 5 star one.
Pool was poorly maintained, tables at the restaurant were so worn down that the tops were nailed to stay in place, the food was average, and the bathroom needs fix-ups.

On a better note, the staff was very welcoming and accommodating at the restaurant and the cleaning crew. Our room was always spotless and beach towels were generously provided.
