We spent 2 weeks on Pef with the infamous "Wobbegong" group. To wrap it up in short: Our high expectations were exceeded! Throughout the entire stay, we were indeed treated as kings and yes; we feel that we have made new friends in Indonesia. The diving is out of this world. For all of you who have not been to Raja Ampat before, you are in for a real treat and you will not be disappointed. All (!!) the staff have been super friendly, the food very tasty and you also get to "steal" from the local buffet, which is great! Bungalows are giant and the sunset views not to be topped! Keep in mind: When you're in Rome, do as the romans do. You are on a remote island and some things won't be like in your 5 star city hotel. If you keep this in mind, you will have a 5 star island holiday :-) Getting to Pef from Europe is a long trip and that is GOOD! If it were too easy to reach, its beauty would disappear quickly. So make the trip, but stay for at least 2 weeks. You will not regret it!

We have rated 4 star as a weighted average from a diving operation (5 star) friendless and caring of staff (5 star) accommodation (3-4 star) food (3-4 star) and transfer (0 star) Here are our comments: Pros: Great dive team, great guide (Nixkon) amazing out of this world dive sites; great friendly staff. Good; The bungalow, furniture OK, many plugs (today is a must) the over-the-water porch and the sunset view are amazing! Acceptable: The bathroom was not at all following the standard, only one sink, the water was very brackish. The food while plentiful was just acceptable Not good: The lack of a proper shower, there is a cube filled with water from hot and cold taps and a pan with handle to pour oneself the water. Being in a sea environment that requieres sweet water very often it does not seem to be the best choice Really bad: The overall transfer operation from the airport to the resort, too long wait at the hotel but specially the transfer boat they use is a disgrace, for a three and a half hour trip it has no toilet facilities of any case, neither has chairs, travelers have to lay down on mattress on the floor, until I got used to it reminded me of the slave ships. On the return trip the heat was unbearable at times. Overall it is a place we would return to if the shower and transfer boat issues were solved, the diving and staff were so good. But those two items make it a no go for us. One last point, we did share these comments with the resort management but they did not seem to be concerned or believe that the faults we saw were shared by most of the guests.

Thank you for your review, Carlos. We are sorry that our philosophy (traditional mandis instead of showers and a stable wooden transfer boat with mattresses to lie down and sleep during the transfer) did not meet your expectations. We wish you all the best and hope you will have a safe journey back home. Kind regards, your Raja4Divers team

My wife and me have been spending a marvellous 3 weeks holiday in the Raja 4 resort ,3 1/2 hours from Sorong, Papua New Guinea. We highly recommend this wonderful resort. I summarize : A beautiful island with a spectacular lagoon, sounds of birds,a very remarkable intact housereef, many beautiful and a number of outstanding reefs for diving or snorkeling in the vicinity. A very warm hearty welcome by the owner lady Maya and her crew. The management turned out to be very effective and reliable and of a remarkable attentiveness and kindness. Being Swiss management ,you can rely on an outstanding food ,whatever it is. We were surprised, how this is possible in this remote area. The infrastructure is just as we like it. Bungalows built with local materials, spacy ,practical ,cozy ; we felt home. Of course we have booked again ,being convinced ,that it would be difficult to surpass this wonderful place. Wati and Claus from Germany.

Diving is floating in a 5 dimensional room – a bit like being in space, but feeling the water and seeing all that beauty the underwater world reveals to us. Raja Ampat has in particular it’s own charm. The biota is incredible and diverse, the dive sites are so remote that maybe once in a while a liveaboard is near by, but otherwise you are alone to absorb the ravishing beauty. The diving at the resort is professionally managed and goes smoothly, but the real magic is the kindness and the family spirit you will experience on the island. It is that LOVE you feel throughout the day when living and experiencing the island life - that makes this place so unique, so special, so incredibly lovable. It is real, it is honest, it is humble! I wish I could have stayed longer but I certainly will come back as so many others are doing that as well. It was a real pleasure and an honour to meet you all and to experience this deep feeling.

Wow , an Amazing place and some of the best diving I have seen. Loved all the people working there including the rooms, food and the dive guides. Their boats are set up just right for the smaller groups and the dive sites are very close to the resort. The corals are still very healthy and there is an abundance of sea life enjoying this beautiful water. My first time to Raja Ampat but it will not be my last. The schedule and the rooms are so relaxing and a great place to recover in between dives.
