Stunning location. November was the perfect time for us - warm days to hang by the communal pool with chilly nights to light the gas fire in our room. We didn’t use the pool in our room - it looks great in the photos but I didn’t find it inviting at all. Bed was excellent. Very well stocked free mini bar with unlimited refills (not that we had time to consume and therefore refill during our 24 hour stay). The food is amazing as you would expect. Breakfast we opted to have delivered to our room (a special free “option” during Covid). There was nice live acoustic music at dinner. Every room has mountain bikes which is a great way to explore the expansive property and would probably be the main reason I would ever return because I enjoyed this aspect and would like to explore more (it’s massive!). The early walking tour was excellent - the guide had wonderful stories and shared his extensive knowledge of animals and horticulture. I have given this a 5 star rating BUT I wish I had completed this review prior to staying at Sapphire in Tasmania in March 2021 because at a similar price point Sapphire is FAR superior in terms of room quality (Wolgan Valley needs an update/refresh) and the service - nobody bothered to try and remember our names much less our drink orders vs Sapphire where I am still in contact with a few of their incredible staff. The excursion list at Sapphire is also excellent - bee keeping, oyster farming, guided walk around wineglass bay, visit Tassie Devil plus plus plus (most are included in your package or have a minimal fee) …. Every excursion genuinely is an “experience” with cheese and wine or pastries anything … whereas the included excursions at Wolgan Valley were limited in appeal and there just weren’t very many. On our walk they gave us a refillable water bottle to use for the hour. Looking back it was lame. If you are reading this and trying to decide which one - go to Sapphire! If you can afford both I strongly suggest you go to Wolgan Valley first otherwise you will just be disappointed after experiencing the higher Sapphire standard. Management/staff at Wolgan Valley need to go and stay at Sapphire to see what an “experience” should look like. You could easily get it right with just a little bit more effort.…
A short one night stay due to our close proximity to Wolgan Valley was just amazing. The staff are first class and the villas are nothing short of spectacular. A 1.5 hour horse ride with the most amazing tour guide Rachel was a highlight. The food, the wine the service and the location are all just right to instill memories that are forever. We loved every second of our stay at Wolgan Valley. The Management and Staff should be proud of what they have done. AMAZING!!
It was good to remove ourselves from the hustle and bustle of city life with overcrowding during an upcoming pandemic wave - good to have very few people where we were able to enjoy the wildlife during our little walks around the property Thank you for conserving the bush! Thanks Elissa for the nocturnal experience for her enthusiasm and knowledge
You get treated like a Rockstar, from the moment you arrive to the minute you leave you are made feel special, the food is amazing, the service outstanding and the rooms are top quality. There is nothing quite like country NSW, the fresh air, the wildlife, we got some amazing wildlife photo's, Wombats, kangaroos, birds. we just had an awesome 3 days of luxury.
We love Wolgan, the experience is truly magical being surrounded by wildlife and nature. The food is amazing and I especially love the native elements that come through in all of the dishes. To top it off, the staff are friendly and go above and beyond when needed. We would return again and again if the prices were not so high!
