We really enjoyed staying here, one of our favorite places in Nicaragua. Nice short walk to a good variety of surf breaks, and right on the beach front. The people here were very friendly, going out of their way to help us. Extra bonus is there was a smoothie blender in the kitchen that we could use! Cheers Gianni, Dayton, Ana, and Nolan!

Clean, quiet, small and safe. Great location. Right on the beach! Hammocks. Shared kitchen is always clean and a pleasure to cook in. Easy walk to great surf at Popoyo and Beginner's Bay. Restaurants and hangout spots nearby. Gianny, the owner, lives on site and is very hospitable. He can arrange surfboard rentals and lessons. My room was much nicer and cleaner than I was expecting. Definitely a GREAT value! I would definitely stay at Wild Waves again! If you want hostel prices and a shared kitchen with the cleanliness and quiet of a hotel, look no further!

I went 3 weeks for surfing in Popoyo area, Gianni and Luisa, the owners, are great guys, super friendly and helpful. The rooms are comfortables, some includes A/C which is not necessary due to the breeze and sheltered location. The food is great, cheap and healthy. Gianni knows everything about surf spots and he can organize boat surf trips to the best surf spots around here. The house is two steps from the sea, if you get the front room you can see the waves break from the window. Sick... Popoyo is very quiet place, ideal for relax and family. Locals are very friendly. Quite Often you can buy local vegetables and products directly from the vendors on the street and it's so cheap and good! Go to Nicaragua, don't trust the medias!

I stayed in there for 7 nights, and had 4 surf lessons with Dayton - very good instructor, he knows what he's doing and gave me several good points/corrections. The room was very nice, comfortable bed and air conditioning, which was great to cool down the room before going to sleep! Hot water shower was a very nice to have. They arranged a shuttle from Managua in a very comfortable car, with a very nice driver. Breakfasts were really nice, special shout out to Doña Ana, who made me feel at home and was lovely to me. Lots of bars and restaurants around, and a mini market like 50m away. Wi-Fi worked fine outside but didn't reach my room (facing the beach). Gianni made me feel very welcome and even gave me a ride to the ATM, and everyone was very friendly and helpful. Short walk to popoyo/beginners bay/magnific rock. Crossing the river when the tide was high was fun!! Would recommend to anyone who wants to stay close to the surf breaks but still feel relaxed. Also - amazing kitten!!

Hammocks. Clean rooms. Warm fresh water showers with good pressure, amazingly comfy beds, beach view from our window. Amazing surf. Perfect! This is also where the locals hang out, which totally made the experience great! This place is right across the street from the surfboard rental shop. Take a pic of the surfboards when you rent them. Some of the boards are banged up and it's always better to refer back to a pic than rely on memory when it comes to board damage. This place is also down the road (walking distance) from a small convenience store and about 6 restaurant choices. We frequently went to La Tica #2 ($3 casado meals & lots of opportunities to meet new people). It was surprisingly quiet. It's literally a 30 second walk to the beach (we could see it from our room window). The entire beach stretches about 2 miles each direction from Wild Waves. Look for turtle tracks and sea shells!! The surf was great! Our favorite surf break was Popoyo. I got a couple of surf lessons from one of the local guys, Hector. He really helped me dial it in and was a lot of fun to hang out with! We also walked to Sardinas beach (to the left when you leave Wild Waves and walk the beach) and climbed up on the big rock to watch the sunset. Amazing! I also recommend visiting the tide pool (to the right). Just be careful climbing the rocks. We had breakfast built-into to our hotel stay, which I recommend, because Anna makes a great breakfast and is such a joy to see in the morning. The owner is Italian and speaks Italian, English, Spanish and I think some Portuguese. You can tell he really cares about you having a good experience there. We went in December and were surprised by how cold the wind and water was. Bring a wetsuit top! This place had about 4 private rooms and bathrooms with a shared kitchen. I would describe it as a hostel for 30 year olds! Ha! Less partying, but still the social aspect. We stayed there a week and really felt connected to everyone there. We can't wait to go back!
