Nestled by the shore, the San Juan Water and Beach Club Hotel offers a modern-beach ambiance that has been widely appreciated for its stunning design and serene atmosphere. While guests rave about the pristine rooms and the hotel's commendable housekeeping, opinions are split regarding the value, with some travelers feeling the costs outweigh the benefits, especially given the ongoing construction. The rooftop pool and beach access are popular amenities, though not without remarks on their price. Service is generally lauded for its friendliness, though occasional lapses in efficiency have been noted.

We have stayed at other properties while visiting San Juan in the past but this was our first experience at the WBC. Check in is at 4pm but due to a late check out by the previous guest our room was not going to be ready for several hours. This is typically where things can go bad but that was not our experience. John at the front desk was quick to remedy the situation and that was only the beginning of a great four day stay. Our bartender Rafael at the rooftop bar kept us laughing and he makes an outstanding Mojito. Evelyn was another wonderful person and always greeted us with a smile during our encounters with her at breakfast and lunch. Speaking of lunch...if you like ceviche than you will not be disappointed. For me, it was the best thing on the menu but my friends were all very happy with their meals as well.

We choose the 2 room suite which was perfect because we were traveling with 4 other people and there really isn't any other areas that you can gather to hang out other than the rooftop bar/pool. The rooms are very clean and the beds were comfortable. The pool on the rooftop is small but was barely used so we had it mostly to ourselves. We loved the direct access to the beach with lounge chairs and umbrella's all set up for you by the hotel attendant. If you are in need of anything there is both a CVS and Walgreens within a block of the hotel that have everything you might need for the beach or your room. Our room came with a mini fridge so we had it fully stocked with beer and snacks.

There are hotel properties that are equivalent to the rooms and amenities at the WBC but what separated this hotel from the pack was it's friendly and attentive service. We will be back for sure!

We stayed for two nights in February. Very close to airport, so we arrived on a later flight and i was glad to take a short cab ride to our accommodations. The property is definitely older but very well maintained. We had a wall of windows that opened to a partial ocean view. Some guest we overheard complained about the lack of lighting in halls and rooms but we weren't bothered by that. Seems to be for effect mainly and the property felt completely safe. The rooms were clean and the staff was super accommodating. A really nice quiet sleep both nights.

We loved the rooftop pool and restaurant area but the breakfast was just okay and not a great value. Plenty of other options nearby. The beach area was really nice and they had chair/umbrella service, towels and waitstaff on the beach for drinks and food. Truly very solicitous staff, couldn't want for anything and very gracious even when folks didn't tip them. Ilsa Verde isn't the most beautiful beach we saw on our trip but it was so relaxing to be waited on and just lounge in the sun.

Small tip, there are two car rental agencies in walking distance here that are reasonably priced. We rented our car here, returned and spent the morning at the beach and then took the shuttle to the airport for our flight. Would definitely recommend this property.

This hotel is super nice. The staff at check in were very welcoming. We were on a cruise so we didnt get to use a room as we were just there for the day. However we will be back Feb2021 for our before cruise stay because it was so nice. The lounge area was cozy. The rooftop pool was amazing especially the view and the food we had was good. They have a reasonable happy hour $5 drinks and food specials. get a daypass from puertoricocruiseexcursions.com its like $29 for half day which is plenty. It includes 4 drinks per person of local gin, rum, whiskey or vodka with a mixer like juice or soda. and a bottle of water. Or you can get one for $45 it includes lunch and the 4 drinks.
the beach closes at 5pm so this gave us somewhere to go until 9 or so before we went back to port.

We come back every year to stay here. Besides the convenience of (literally) having the beach on the other side of the cul de sac across from the hotel, their is a staff member setting up umbrellas and chaise lounge chairs. Just remember to ask for a beach towel from the front desk. Staff members also come by and will bring you drinks and food which is very nice. The hotel has two restaurants, for a more casual dining experience, the "Mist" on the rooftop provides both tables and also couches/chaise lounge couches to relax on while eating. Their is a happy hour every day from 5-7 PM with discounted appetizers and drinks Their newest restaurant, "Sabores" is also very good and well priced. The Tropical Salad and the Red Snapper dish were light and well-prepared. The Chef was very caring and willing to make vegetarian options which were not listed on the menu. We always get the balcony room which allows for great views of the beach and water and a nice breeze and sound of waves to fall asleep to. Be aware the balcony is not wide so you can step onto it but cannot bring a chair out there. I think the balcony is worth the additional cost. If there is a change that I would recommend it is that the hotel does not provide tissues which I think they should. You can walk to the local well-stocked CVS and pick up a box.

The hotel is okay. Not bad, not great. While booking a seven day cruise, we decided to stay at the San Juan WBC hotel based on raving review and the proximity to the beach. For me the pool was small but fine, and the rooftop definitely provided the vibe of a great nightlife scene. Although I specifically booked this on a Saturday because I assumed their would be a dj and live music, there was not.

The hotel is near the Beach and provides towels, beach chairs, and service attendants for drinks which I found to be useful.

We ordered food and drinks upstairs, all of which was tasty and well prepared. Prices for this hotel approx are ($12)for Pina coloadas, strawberry daiquiris, ($6) beers. ($12) apps, etc. They do have a happy hour every day for discounted drinks

The hotel had a charming touch among walking in. Clean with the restaurant adjourned next to it, and the elevator was interesting, but outdated and so dark. I get the interesting vibe with the water fall theme, but it was so dark people were using cell phone lights to push buttons and read the posted menus advertised.

The room unfortunately was not impressive. Perhaps if the layout was different towards accommodating space more properly, that would have made it more comfortable. We did not book a balcony for $100 more so our view was of a cement wall. There is an extreme humid and mildew smell coming from the room, which I alerted the front desk about, and they gladly sprayed febreeze.

My suggestions if I was in a management position here, would be to include a mini refrigerator, small nightstand tables so people can put personal items (cell phones, charges, paper work, etc) Signs of where things are Ice Machine, Get rid of the blue lighting behind the curtains, and honestly just new lines and some furniture. It has a lot of potential but as stated in the title, I did not feel the value at plus $200.

The A.C like other reviews say, is indeed the best in San Juan. Within one hour you will feel like your in Maine during winter. For me that was great. For others, I suggest you adjust properly.

Would I go back? Eh. Not for the price unless they upgraded.

I didn't try the massage but other reviews rave about it, so I would maybe go to try that.

P.S. remember Uber in PR is very cost affective to and from the airport from this hotel.

My colleagues and I were excited to get to the hotel and explore the area. We were immediately met with rude staff more concerned with making sure we used hand sanitizer than ensuring we could get checked in. The hotel should’ve expected my team. Everything they did reflected not. The hotel staff had us wait 15-20 minutes without even acknowledging us. They helped people behind us, beside us - pretty much everyone but us. This entire time NOBODY was staffing the front desk! Are you kidding me?!?

After extreme frustration from being ignored, a few members of my team and I said, “excuse me, what is the hold up?” A few minutes later, they finally checked us in. During that process, staff member Damarys was cold and rude. The hotel staff did very little to express they appreciated the business my company continually gives them.

All being said, this hotel staff needs a HUGE lesson in basic customer service. Their check in experience took our excitement to being ticked off.

What I liked - A beachfront hotel was just what I wanted. They gave us towels, chairs and an umbrella at the beach which was an amenity included in the price. The general charge for that in the area was $25, so it was definitely a plus. The staff were without a doubt some of the most friendly and accommodating that I've encountered. Read about what I didn't like, then realize that this hotel will fit the bill of a moderately priced beachfront property if you are not that picky. The casino and some good restaurants were in walking distance, and we felt safe walking in the area at night. It was about a 10 minute/$9 Uber ride to Old San Juan, and the same distance/price to go to the airport.
What I disliked · Here is what you need to know...the are currently under construction to redo the rooms, which is definitely needed. The construction sounds didn't start until after 9-ish, and weren't very loud, so it didn't bother us at all, but they were on the 10th floor, and we were on the 4th. The pictures on the website make the rooms look better than they are. Our room was about 15' x 15' with King bed, so it was on the small side.It did have a beach view, so that was the trade off. The rooftop restaurant has an a la carte menu, which ends up being a $125 dinner for two when you order several of the dishes and each have a drink ($24 for 2 mojitios). The room had popcorn ceilings and no closet to speak of, just a small wardrobe. The dated bathroom has no vent fan so was very steamed up after showering. The sink drain was slow and the coffeemaker in the room was not a keurig or even a Mr. Coffee type. We had grounds in our coffee every morning.Despite this, the staff and the beach view made up for some of the hotel's shortcomings, and hopefully when redone will live up to the expectations that people get from the pictures used to advertise the hotel. TO THE HOTEL: Please add an extra $5 charge to the room rate and give us coffee every morning, not just on weekends.

This trip was very distasteful in providing client services. The front desk staff were not properly informed to communicate with guest in regards to check in. If you are looking to stay at this hotel please avoid early flights or you'll be sleeping the lobby until 5pm. The rooms were not ready at 4pm due to short staff housekeeping. The reception charges $200 for security deposit upfront before being assigned to a room. Then there were the room conditions which does not get any better. There were random power outage that occurred. The room my friends and I stayed in had a leak that created a minor flood. Staff and management were notified about the issues and absolutely nothing was done to resolve it. Housekeeping struggled with restocking toiletry items during our stay. The only highlight of this trip were the rooftop staff in serving the beverage and food.

The resort looked beautiful when we arrived Christmas night 2021. At check in we were told there was a resort fee of 16% of the daily rate which was about $485. The resort fee allowed us access to the rooftop bar/lounge, MIST now known as KUMO, the rooftop pool, the hotel restaurant downstairs, the gym in the basement, and the beach amenities; lounge chairs, umbrellas, and beach towels.

KUMO was closed until December 30th, the pool was freezing cold and closed at 8pm, the restaurant downstairs never opened, and the gym was inaccessible due to construction on the property. We did utilize the beach chairs, towels and umbrellas. In my opinion the amount of the resort fee should have been reduced due to the lack of access to the resort amenities.

First the elevator, there was a ceiling tile missing the floor was dirty and there was a camera cord hanging. We purchased a city view room and was given room 409. Arriving to the room the floors were unswept, there was sand all around and the phone did not work. The light entering the room flickered on and off all night. Two of the outlets did not work, the bed legs were uneven and the mattress was uncomfortable. The shower did not drain and the shower head leaked. The bathroom window was broken and did not close which allowed the humidity to enter into the room. The “city view” we paid for was a view of the wall of the building next door.

Inside the AC unit there was a scent block to make the room smell better but it had mold growing on it. The mold spores were blowing into the room and at that point I had enough.

I requested a new room. After 24hours, the housekeeper walking into our room while we were in bed and three visits to the front desk we were given a new room on the 7th floor. It was the same layout but we had a better view. Some of the problems in the first room were present in the second room; sandy floors, uncomfortable bed and non-working outlets and phone. The AC unit in the second room did not have any mold but it also did not work as well as the first room. Upon checking out I was over charged $50 dollars for valet parking. I had a one day rental car, the valet rate was $16 per day. The hotel corrected it but only after my card was charged for the full amount.

Last but not least there was ongoing construction happening on the 10th floor which begun around 10am everyday. Overall I would rate my experience at the San Juan water beach club very very poor.

My daughters and I docked in San Juan after taking a cruise and as our flights were not due out till the evening we needed something to do for the day. So we booked a day at this beautiful beachfront hotel, complete with infinity pool on the roof (albeit small) but with a spectacular view overlooking the beach! The staff were amazing, the restaurant had some good munchies and they stored our luggage for the day and even gave us plushy towels for the beach chairs! For $80 for the 3 of us, this was a win win so we could prolong our beautiful vacation before heading back to snow! Its a short drive from the pier and an even shorter commute to the airport. It is a beautiful boutique hotel - very clean and taxis were readily available outside. We loved our day at this hotel.
