Skanes Serail & Aquapark garners praise for its friendly and helpful staff, with many guests appreciating the hotel's cleanliness, especially in rooms and common areas. However, opinions on value and room comfort vary, with some reviewers expressing disappointment over perceived overpricing and underwhelming all-inclusive offerings. While the pools earn positive remarks, the limited availability of amenities and the need for updates are points of criticism. Guests find the atmosphere to be a mixed bag, with lively entertainment contrasting with rooms that some say lack a welcoming feel.

This holiday was booked for my Birthday. We arrived the night before. Arrangements were unable to be made as the number provided was not answered a month prior to arriving. The hotel is a beautiful building that needs tender love and care. When we arrived it was just after a storm so the wind noises in the room third floor facing the sea was horrific. The coast at the sea was covered in debris/litter and we were unable to get in to the sea.
We had the Spa package for £100 for three days of massage all sorted by the lovely rep Gigi ( Hanan, the masseuse has wonder hands ).
The food was not the greatest very bland in taste.
The restaurant staff were great especially Mohamed who made sure we had a specially decorated spot every shift he was in.
The entertainment team ( Panda and Femi) tried their hardest to entertain us with games and karaoke/music .
We were not told that the hotel was doing maintenance during down season. The hotel is listed as an Aquapark but the main pool and the slide pool was drained and being maintained. The slides are closed in down season that also includes the shanties and the beach huts which were also not available. Only the hotel bar was open for entertainment.
Do not expect to be able to just take a walk. The hotel is in the middle of the sea and the salt lakes on a very long stripe of road. Nearest cash point is the airport 20-30 minutes walk from the hotel. You can change money at the hotel at a slightly lower rate but cannot withdraw money.
You can take a cab either way and the price is 50 Dinar there and back (some cab driver will haggle for price be stern).
My Husband and I met some great people off the beaten track and found our fun in Quad Biking for three days.
I would like to Thank Mr Chakib the Cheif Exec of the hotel for being approachable during our stay.

Lovely hotel and friendly staff, if you follow a few simple rules you’ll have a great family holiday.

Rule 1 - Tip! Find a waiter day one, slip him 10
Dinar (£2.50), and you’ll have a freshly laid table waiting for you every time. We used the older Mohammed at breakfast and the younger Mo in the evenings.

Rule 2 - take Sterling with you and change at the airport, they don’t take cards at the Exchange so only cash will do. Tunisian Dinar can’t be bought outside the country so have £ with you to change.

Rule 3 - be careful what you eat! Everything looks delicious but anything washed with the local water may cause problems. I left the all inclusive holiday 3lb lighter! Stick to the cooked food

Hotel is really good with a hard working entertainment team. Beach is fantastic and very safe for children. Be friendly with everyone and they’ll be very friendly back. Tunisia is a different country and culture to what you may be used to but common sense will see you right.

Great holiday, we’ll definitely go again in a few years.

The staff at the hotel are all very lovely and accommodating. The entertainment team work very hard and are very friendly. However the hotel needs a lot of improvement, the rooms look nothing like the pictures they are not very welcoming and the beds make me wake up feeling like I’ve been in a car crash.
The food is very samey everyday with not much for the kids.
The facilities are very good, the pool area is great and the water park is lots of fun - has lots of potential.
When we arrived I had to use a flashlight to find my room as all the corridors are pitch black and not very inviting. Coming alone with a small child this was not a great first impression.
Other groups seemed to take priority. We asked for music round the pool to which they said that another group requested no music cos the pool is for relaxing - it’s a family hotel. Also there was suppose to be a pool foam party disco for the kids, again the other group turned this down and so we were denied that.
Could be more variety of evening entertainment, but they do a good job with what they’ve got!
Overall would say that this hotel was more of a 3 star.

Average
Slides not open after been told the 1st April
Told 2nd
Then told 10am then 1pm then 3 then 5pm.
Then told should be open 1 hour a day
Then blamed the weather despite all other hotels locally fully open.
Then told no lifeguard even though he was walking around days prior

Animation good to entertain the kids.
Not much adult entertainment

Child pool wasn’t open for first week and was left unsafe with grids around the edge

Rooms are ok and basic
Can be loud at nighttime depending on where in the hotel.

Beach was dirty and full of seaweed and not really usable. Walk down to beach with other hotels and all were ok and cleaned. They were cleaning whilst there but nothing like the pictures

It was out of season and didn’t expect much to be open which was fair enough

Wouldn’t recommend to book as a family especially this time of the year.

Some food was nice but can be repetitive,
Drinks basic and for first week didn’t even have diet drinks, they did after complaint eventually get some.

I am unhappy they promise children things and then do not folllow through

Wouldn’t come back sorry

The rooms are clean. Cleaners work hard wouldn’t say it is a 4 star holiday would rate it at a 3

We Stayed at the hotel from 14th of June , 2 adults 1 child 4years and a baby 9 months.
First night (34 degres) the Aircon wasn't working and when I asked at the reception they said to me that they will turn it on from the 15th its a national rule lol !! With the help of Sofien in the reception who was helpful and professional we Managed to change room due to the noise coming from the Disco.
The shop in the hotel is over priced , when I challenged the guy in charge (attached pic) he didn't like it and from then he was rude to us the rest of our stay. Its a shame
Restaurant : lack of hygiene, please make sure ur table is wiped properly before sitting, the cutlery always greasy, only 2 high chairs available and one of them is broken.
Entertainment team are young and the boys they seemed interested only in girls but they were there every day trying there best with minimum facilities.
Night entertainment indoor !!!
Around the pool or the beach you will be approached by sellers (henna tattoo, SPA, jewellery and excursion...) these are staff employed by the hotel but a polite No will keep u in peace.
Water Park is OK
Overall the hotel needs updating and management need to be more visible and hear out customers complaints.

Overall, the hotel is ideal for a cheap and cheerful stay. However after holidaying in various countries and hotels this hotel has to be the least equipped. No mini fridge, beds are hard, the bathrooms could do with updating ASAP, and the curtains are quite old making the rooms look dark and dingy. The beach was a mess when we arrived, however this was cleaned up and was quite nice to relax on towards the end of our stay, however strangers will approach you hounding you to buy ciggies head scarves and bracelets and do not take no for a answer, security at the beach don't do anything to stop them once you have said no, so makes going down to the beach a waste of time as there isn't just 1 there is upto 6 different men. Entertainment show wise could do with being varied more, panda simba Prince and zizou where fantastic though so so friendly and I will miss them most of all. They don't cater to English food wise in the restaurant, I struggled for 8 days to find something to eat and lived on spaghetti mostly. The chicken wings were not cooked one day they was raw inside. Overall I'd give the hotel 2 stars. The aqua park was only open 2 hours a day, and the bar was quiet not even any music on whilst you sat and had a drink. With some tweaks this hotel could be so much more. Would I go back? Not at this moment in time, not enough to do there as a family. But we had a laugh and made the most of it.

First room I was given on the day of arrival had damp, with no ventilation and immediately felt my chest tightening as I suffer from asthma. The Room was located on the ground floor next to the nightclub so sleep was disturbed.
The Room was filthy and bathroom was wasn't cleaned, extractor fan was not working either. After complaining I was relocated.

No Air con, only available from 15th June! This key information was not advertised by the hotel nor the travel agency.

Buffet is below standard and no suitable options for children.

Not enough beach towels for guests at poolside and you have to pay 20TDR per towel deposit

Only 1 room card given per room, which is inconvenient.

Overall I will never recommend or visit this hotel again, as I believe it is below 4 stars.

After 8 hours delay in our nouvelair flight we end-up arriving very late to the hotel. They could not give us the room we paid for and asked us to return to reception next day at 12:30. We returned to the reception 2 days in a row to hear that was no other rooms available although we could see dozens of guests leaving every morning. Room 133 is also on top of the shows area and impossible for families with kids to sleep before 23:00. Mr. Sofien and Mr.Hassan at reception are not customer orientated and everything that a customer service agent should not be. Rude, with attitude and completely unaware of their guests necessities.

Meals are ok with little choice. Drinks are just horrible, unless you don’t mind to drink something similar to vinagre (here they call white wine). End-up only drinking beer and water. They always very short of staff and you have to wait in long queues to get some service. Staff works hard to serve you. Perhaps would be a good a good idea to promote most of them to receptionist. At least they care about the customers.

Animation team tries very hard. Kudos for them, can’t imagine how hard is to work with temperatures over 40 degrees.

Beach Is also not nice and hotel does not have anything at all at the beach.

Overall, and knowing that every year we use 3/4 all-inclusive around the hotel, is use to conclude that this one can be the worst we ever stay. The lack of care and arrogance of the people representing the hotel is disgraceful. Please change your drinks, all change your title to “beer and water inclusive”.

Thank you!

So we Landed 5.30pm. Getting through security at Enfida was a joke. Eventually arrived at Skanes Serail at 10pm. Respect to the reception staff, who ordered us a pizza with us missing the tea slot.
So day 1 lost..
Went to reception the next morning to find out what was happening around the hotel during our stay, but before we could speak to anyone we were greeted by Gigi, who seemed to take over showing us straight to the spa area and literally forcing us to book a session each. We "had" planned on a massage whilst there, but would've been nice just to do it in our own time. In all respect, the masseuse was great, looked after us very well and was great all around. The sauna could do with a bit of a clean though, with parts of the ceiling falling off and plaster being left on the seats and floor.
Next door, the indoor pool. The water was fine, but the surroundings dirty and un-maintained. As for the 'so called' lifeguard, too busy on his phone to realise what was going on (when he was actually there).
Outdoor pool, looks lovely, too cold to even attempt to enter. Be nice in 'warm' season though.
The surrounding area, was well maintained by the gardners and kept very nice looking. Lovely to walk around.
The beach was dirty and un-maintained.
Food and drink - 1 small bar open, limited to draught lager (which was nice), limited spirits, or 3 types of cacktails (which tasted like they were mixed with cordial), then hot beverages, also soft fizzy drinks for kids. Unless you class bingo as an entertainment, there was none.
The restaurant, "I" could not fault, I will eat any foods and there was always a large array, but my partner struggled to find things she could eat and she's not a "fussy" eater. Kids WILL struggle.
All staff were great in the bar and restaurant.
The room we stayed in was nice and clean. Basic, but with the sea view, and out the way of the free WIFI zone... can't have it all I suppose.
There was also building works going on inside the complex, so had pneumatic drills going from 8am till 4pm. Ruined the 'sitting around the pool' for us.
In all respect, building works do need to be done out of season.
We did venture out to Monastir one afternoon, but very intimidating and wouldn't recommend if you have anxiety of any sort, or kids.
So, all in all, a nice breakaway if you just want to relax, do nothing, and you like your foreign foods.
When checking out, no reason to why we couldn't have our room a little later than 11.30am (unless you are leaving a good review)..not like they had any more than 40 people staying there.
One last thing, some of the pictures they put up on the website, are NOT from this hotel.

While the hotel greeting is great this is a misconception to the rest of your stay. Rooms are mediocre very stiff beds poor air conditioning units. Brown water comes from the showers and that is on days you actually have water. We had 4 bath towels for 6 people. Food is not to bad but if you have fussy eaters there is no safe food unless they offer chips which is not every day. No fry up options for breakfast. Pool is great but they allow towels laying to claim loungers from 7am so set your alarms. The private beach that has broken sun loungers a bar that you have to pay for and the constant harassment pressurising you to buy junk from locals every 5 minutes.
DRINKS! The worst of the whole holiday everything is served in children's cups around 200ml size so prepare to be dehydrated nothing is cold it's room temperature you have around 4 spirit choices (house spirits) 1 lager, coke, sprite, orange juice and water. these often ran out!
English is not well spoken by many of the staff so language barrier is difficult.
The cost of activities is made up there is no set price everyone could pay different for the same activity.

I have no idea, you'd be better off asking loveholidsys if they could ask. I wouldn't recommend this hotel though, unless you like sleeping in other people's cummy bedding and sharing with cockroaches.
