My 3 boys, ages 7-11, threatened to chain themselves to posts rather than leave on the day of departure, which was astonishing given that this was after a week of no TV and no wifi. Several months later they are still asking if we can go back, Our guide, Napoleon, made every effort to make sure everyone in our party,...

Took bush plane, and then canoe, We were greeted warmly by our guide "Napo" He worked hard all week to show us the beauty and animals of the Amazon region. Food and service was top notch, considering how deep in Amazon we were. Bed was clean, comfortable and had ample mosquito nets. My wife and I learned a lot from...

This lodge is an amazing place. It is so different than home in the US. We spent 4 days here in February. It was very dry during this time. We had no rain and saw no mosquitos. The first day was so hot we thought of leaving. There are no fans to help make you more comfortable. The second day...

We spent six days here as part of a Pachamama Alliance journey. What an amazing experience to explore this window into the rainforest--via the only ecolodge exclusively owned and operated by indigenous peoples. Obviously, the experience is about being in the jungle, and getting to know the flora, fauna, and people there. It's a perfect base for doing that, and...

My family of 4 (includes 2 teenagers) visited here earlier last month and it couldn't have been better. The company sent us with an English speaking guide named Gus, who was phenomenal, and our native Achuar naturalist at the lodge was Simon. We were the only people there, which is really too bad. People are afraid of Zika virus, but...

Kapawi was my introduction to the Amazon. I've returned numerous times over the past 10 years. If you want an awesome Amazonian experience drawing authentically from indigenous culture and solid conservation science, this is the place!!! The Achuar Nation of Ecuador who own this enterprise are an extraordinary people. Their knowledge of the the jungle is mind-blowing, their culture is...

My husband and I spent 5 days at Kapawi in April 2015. Our guides Carlos and Celestino were fantastic - super knowledgeable plus great at spotting the wildlife - they gave us a real appreciation for the Amazon. I really liked having two guides, one of whom was part of the community - we felt quite spoiled and they gave...

I traveled alone here, as a woman, and felt completely safe, despite everyone cautioning me that I shouldn't go alone. The staff was very knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. The food was fairly authentic, and there were very few people there when I went, which made it even better, since I wanted to experience the peace and quiet of the jungle....

Second visit in 4 years - remains an excellent destination, and early December seems to be a time with very few visitors, which makes the experience better still ! If you like hiking in hot and humid rainforest, go for it - it is fantastic here !

The Kapawi Reserve is really beautiful, and the lodge is amazing. They have only 30 or so residents at any time which is great. The rooms are absolutely clean (shocking!) and arranged oh so beautifully. The food I expected to be worst, but probably the best I've had in all of Ecuador and that's saying something. The chef Marco blew...
