We came to the Villa for a wedding but it was an amazing stay all 4 days. We had everything and anything that we needed. The staff were friendly and quiet all at the same time. They worked in ways that were barely noticeable. Everything was clean and beautiful. Website was clear and helpful. The sunsets were amazing from upper deck, pool or beach. Property converted in to a fantastic wedding venue. Location was very convenient. Plenty of parking available. (Would recommend a vehicle with decent tires and height for island.) Worth the stay and would highly recommend for a trip away, family event and a wedding!

On July 2013, my family had the entire Villa for two weeks. From the moment we arrived till we departed, we felt right at home. Beautiful Villa with great sunsets! Stu was very cordial, always available and very attentive and ensured each and every day that the place was sparkling and everything working. We had nine adults, a teenager, an eight year old, and a 2 year old. There was something for each group to do. My only tip is to rent a car and use your gps and get out and enjoy! Lots of nice restaurants, bakeries, water sports, and side road dining experiences. Go explore the towns nearby and Crash Boat beach just a brief drive from the Villa. Safety was of no concern. Great law enforcement presence everywhere. My family was safe and had a blast. Great memories.

My group of old friends stayed in the main house for a week and this was more than we had ever bargained for. The property is immaculate, from the poolbar to the landscaped grounds, to the furnishings and exclusive beach access. The property owner, Stuart, assisted us with whatever we needed, whenever we needed it, including surf boards delivered right to our doorstep and a local chef who rolled in one afternoon with a pig on a spit and all the local trimmings. We stayed in late October and after a day of epic surfing, it was only a short walking distance to local happy-hour spots. I have traveled to beach towns throughout the Carribean and Latin America, and based on the beach access, security, and first rate accommodations, I give Playa Maria a solid five-stars.

Make no mistake this villa is beautifully maintained and decorated with many amenities. The location is spectacular, right on the beach. Personally I felt Stu was too visible during our stay, letting himself into the home while we were onsite and offsite. I could see his visiting us a few times during our stay ensuring we were enjoying our stay but he was there every day.

He's a nice enough guy, not rude or condesending however if you're opening to advice Stu it would be to keep a lower profile during folks' stay. You provide contact numbers in the event you're needed ...your constant presence was distracting to say the least.

We rented the entire villa and guest house for 11 of us. It was the perfect location located right on the beach. Great beach for surfing. Not really for swimming but we had the private pool. Felt very safe because it was a gated entrance. The villa was clean and beautiful inside. The grounds were kept up nicely.
The owner of the villa took good care of us and answered all our questions. He helped us find local restaurants, surf board rentals and other beaches to visit. Rincon is a perfect place for surfing and sunshine!

Rented the main house and the guest house for 14 members of our family. Eight adults, one teen-ager, and 5 between 10 and 4. Great place. Stu was an excellent host. The facilities were excellent. Did some fishing for tuna (ate it that night); sailing, snorkeling, jet sking; rented a kyack and a surf board (with paddle) for the week. Water is clean and the beach was almost ours 100%. Visited the Calypso cafe for rum punches and a couple of lunches. Stu arrainged a pig roast for us with all the trimmings one night (had left overs the next night). Stu also helped us with all of our transportation needs from San Juan to Rincon, so we did not have to rent three vans for the entire week. This trip takes about three hours and that is the only negative. Had a couple of bon fires on the beach; great for the kids.

Agree with restauronteur's review of this beach home, except at this time of year this is NOT a good part of Puerto Rico for scuba diving or snorkeling. However, we did see whales while sitting on our beach chairs, which alone was worth the trip.

We spent a week here with extended family and friends. Four professional adults (50-60ish)and our four young adult children (20-24). The property is beautifully landscaped and maintained by Stuart, the owner, who is very much hands on with attention to every detail. With the wonderful pool/swim up bar area and the beach at our back door, some of us never left the property. There was plenty to keep everyone occupied. We all enjoyed watching the waves and surfers on Maria's beach as well as the wonderful snorkeling on a short beach walk away at Steps Beach. The short beach walk in the other direction, to the lighthouse is equally as breathtaking. Sitting at the edge of the beach watching a beautiful sunset was a fabulous end to every day at this stunning property.
Being restaurant owners and Chefs, the kitchen and outdoor grill were very important to us. This one was well equipped with state of the art appliances with plenty of working and dining areas. Stuart was the consummate host and help, even procuring fresh lobsters for a wonderful surf and turf feast in our beautiful vacation home.
I would recommend this property to anyone wanting a restful, fun filled, vacation in one of the most gorgeous settings ever. We will be back.

Stuart: I cannot tell you how much we all (thats exactly 150+ people) enjoyed our stay. To this day, everyone talks about our wedding and 'the dude'. I wonder who that is! You were a gentleman to my parents and a buddy to my best friends. We will NEVER forget our stay at Villa Marias and are looking forward to repeating our stay for our 5 yr anniversary, although there's talks among the boys of a 2010 reunion. Are you ready for that!? Thanks again for being so helpful and generous. We all wish you the best. See you soon in my little Island! ***The swimming pool with the swim up bar was a HUGE hit!***
