We stayed 6 days in the Chateau to rest and to discover the Carcassonne area. We had 2 very nice suites overlooking the garden - ideal to rest (quiet) and to take it easy. We all read a lot; our teenagers enjoyed the (French) comic book library a lot. Powerful AC and fast internet connection made the stay very comfortable.... More

We stayed one night at Palaja. Our room was a good size, clean, with comfortable bed and linens. The bathroom was a bit compact but, again, clean, with good linens and toiletries. The hotel is located amidst a small park -- peaceful and lovely. There is a good quality continental buffet breakfast. The best feature of the hotel may be... More

The chateau is set in lovely gardens in a sylvan setting. The staff were unfailingly friendly and helpfu. My room was delightful, with a beautiful and very comfortable bed. The shower room and toilet were separate which was very nice. Breakfasts presented a wide and traditional, home made choice. I shall be returning. I left my swimsuit, by mistake or... More

Beautiful location away from the madness of Carcassonne. Very hospitable. Lovely room with massive bathroom. Great pool though it was really cold even in July. Really great to be able to sit outside for breakfast and really nice local products. Over anxious serving staff a little too omnipresent. Only minor gripe is not being able to take coffee or tea... The hotel is run very efficiently by a lovely couple - Catherine & Eric Remy, always smiling and happy to help. It is situated in a quiet spot in a village, 10min drive from Carcassonne. Beautiful old building restored and redecorated with taste, using even some reclaimed materials, which gives the place charm and singularity. E.g. I liked the idea... More

Our family of four stayed at the chateau in a junior suite for one night and thoroughly enjoyed it. The rooms are spacious and well appointed. We would have stayed another night had they not been sold out. The hotel is conveniently located to the medieval city of Carcassonne. The reception desk was very helpful in helping us locate a... This is a great hotel and you owe it to yourself to stay there. The chateau building itself has been restored beautifully. Our room on the top floor was large and air conditioned with calm décor and a huge, comfortable bed. The breakfast buffet was delicious with local produce in abundance. The village location and the very well kept gardens... More

This hotel certainly lived up to all the positive reviews. It is a very comfortable well managed and is ideally situated a few minutes from Carcassonne. The owner Catherine Remy is probably one of the most helpful and charming people I have met. The restaurant next door is under separate management but is also first class and we certainly had an excellent... More

My husband and I had a great stay at Chateau de Palaja. We stopped here for just one night (trust me we wish it was longer) and had a great stay. We were heading back from Barcelona and found that the Chateau was a great change of pace from the HUSTLE AND BUSTLE of Barcelona. The rooms were spacious and... More

After visiting Madrid and Barcelona my wife and I traveled to Carcassonne and stayed ate Chateau de Palaja. It was absolutely lovely. The staff was friendly and very helpful. Having just Visited 2 cities, waking up to the peaceful sound of birds and light rain made our stay there that much more pleasant. If you are planning to visit Carcassonne... More
