We spent 2 nights at The Oyster Inn in Oneroa.Fantastic central location right in the thick of the action,Plenty of dining options and galleries. The room was very comfortable and well decked out.The breakfast, which was part of the room rate, was first rate
We dined at the restaurant 2 days ago. We had been several years ago and enjoyed it , but not this time. Perhaps they have new management. The dining area was noisy with drunk people, not the restaurants fault but a pity. The main problem was the food. I ordered pasta with mussels, and it was oily and without fresh flavour. The tomato base tasted tired and the colour looked like it came from a bottle of chilli oil. OK but could have been better .My wife ordered the market fish, which was billed as coming with cabbage and leek. She chose this as she loves her vegetables. There were none visible on the plate: the waitress insisted pretty firmly that there was a big pile under the pieces of fish: but in fact about a teaspoon of sorry material emerged. Again not really good enough. And "thrice cooked fries " which were really just costly wedges. So all together a pity and not likely to return to a local.…
We were finally able to take this two day break which had been delayed by Covid lockdowns for almost two years. We checked and were met by Helen, the owner. We were shown to one of the three rooms at the Inn. Very comfortable and spacious, and the bed was just right. We dined in at the restaurant. Lucky we booked as it was pumping. Great food and service. I had the John Dory fish while my wife had the miso eggplant. Complemented by a green salad with a lovely dressing and heirloom tomatoes. The breakfast which was included in the tariff was excellent. I had the scrambled eggs, mushrooms and bacon, while my wife had the granola with fresh fruit, including beautifully ripened figs. Can’t speak highly enough about the quality of this Inn as a place to stay on Waiheke Island. Very close to the ferry and bus stops. Will certainly come to stay again.…
Had dinner here Saturday March 5 TH 2022, such a friendly welcome and first class service all night! Menu offers up hard choices to make as all looked superb, Of course being the Oyster Inn we had to have the signature dish, it did not disappoint! Also indulged in the aged steak, with creamy mushroom sauce, absolutely cooked to perfection! Cocktails were simply first class, my wife totally rec. the 'Pink Lady'...loved the ice cold Peroni, views were amazing from the balcony and the atmosphere almost has you believing your overseas!
We’ve stayed here many turns many and I keep forgetting to review. Maybe it’s because this is our quick getaway. We live the Oyster Inn for a quick parents escape. Something about getting on the ferry really makes you leave the city life and all your city worries behind. A quick 45 and your being picked and whisked off to the hotel. It’s perfectly central to everything - the shops the beach and the vineyards, location is perfect etc for this kind of stay. We usually only ever do 1-2nights. It’s enough to free your mind for a minute and instantly chill. The rooms are simple in interior, modern and fresh. Cute big open bathroom. The views are mot great from here but you can get all of that and low from the main restaurant floor and balcony. It’s a pretty gorgeous view from there and the menu is always great. We’ve stayed across the previous and current owners and for us the transition seemed pretty seamless - still great service and food. Just can’t fault this - book it!…
My son couldn't be here for my birthday and booked the Inn, as well as the restaurant for a night. It was a fantastic idea, as after dinner we only had a two minute walk to our room. Our room "one" was very beach style with white wooden planking, wood floors and a white tiled bathroom just like in magazines! They only have three rooms but told us they plan to build nine more on the side of the building. Both the room and bathroom were very spacious and warm with a good selection from Sky television, quality towels, soap and an extremely comfortable bed. It is right on the main road in the middle of the Oneroa village but was very quiet with the rooms at the back and the restaurant at the front. Breakfast was included and there was a good choice and it was a generous size, made and served to you from the kitchen. …
I’ve never really been too fond of oysters, but I gave the dressed and battered oysters a go here at the Oyster Inn, and it was great! Flavourful and not “fishy” at all, which was a great way to start the meal. Our highlight for the night was definitely the scampi linguine. The way they made the base to accompany the dish was just great, and the best thing was it didn’t overpower the taste of the scampi - we could still taste the scampi quite distinctly. Thanks for a great meal!
We enjoyed a dinner here which was all very nice however not what we could call fine dining as expected. Service was great, everything came out very quickly - maybe too quickly as an entrée and a main each and we were out in 1.5 hours. Food was lovely so no real complaints just maybe not exactly as we expected. All questions below refer to hotel rather than restaurant so hard to complete
Fabulous lunch celebrating a significant birthday great service interesting menu and awesome view really enjoyed our visit The salmon was delicious we all enjoyed our meals we choose a fish focus and we’re not disappointed but there are options for all tastes
Lives up to the promise. Cape Cod vibe. Super friendly staff. Great playlist to enhance the chill-out lounge atmosphere. Tapas format if you want to plate share. Really amazing salad. Really amazing! Fish and chips was excellent.
