If you like the jungle you'll love this place its surrounded by swamp style jungle around the rooms There are many walks and treks you can take from the hotel We did a horse trek from the hotel and also yoga it was great The only problem is the power went out a few times which meant the food was... Goodness, I was greeted by two baby tarantulas in my cabin! Of course I expected to see, uh, some "friends" in my room but I didn't really think I'd have two big spiders ( they maybe baby tarantulas but if your domestic spiders give you a fright, well...) But I had good friends who came to my rescue and I... More

We stayed for a couple nights as part of a road trip for Semana Santa. Awesome hotel, the kids loved all the wooden walkways over the mangroves. We were two families of 5, with rooms right next to each other. More then enough space for us (both families' youngest was 4). Rooms were well kept, and the fan and open... More

I enjoyed one night at Hacienda Tijax, with a very nice cabin, with AC, hot water, and a different kind of rooms. The bed was a little bit like a rock, but in general was good. The pool is nice and the restaurant has a good menu.

Hacienda Tijax has a lovely pool, the rooms were quaint and simple, with bug netting. We had no bugs in our room. We enjoyed sunrise kayaking to see the howler monkeys and horseback riding through the rubber trees, visited museum with info all about rubber plantation. Enjoyed kicking back in the hammock, very peaceful place.

We had to wonder were we were going as we walked along the raised plank walk way through the mango groves to Haceinda Tijax . We were out on the dock area were the sail boats are moored no mosquitoes good thing. The cabin was not all sealed and the mosquito netting had a hole in it . Comfortable sleep... More

After visiting several hotels along rio dulce we decided to stay at Tijax. Room were very affordable and clean, nice pool as well. What I felt they need is a little bit of training in customer service. Some of the waitresses were nice and some not to friendly. The food was overpriced for what you get which is strange because... We decided to stay because I believed the place might provide a comfortable jungle experience. It was an enjoyable stay, but not exactly what I envisioned. There is a walkway through some mangroves that is kind of fun, but don't expect a Conradian experience. We stayed at one of the "deluxe" cabins that had its own bathroom & air-conditioning. the... Lush vegetation in the preserved rain forest. Small cabins scattered along a board walk. The nature walk is guided by a knowledgeable local guide along elevated cable bridges (some 60 feet high). The hike is approx. three miles long. Along the way, there is an Observation Tower affording spectacular views of the valley. It was utilized by the Mayas for... More
