Thanks to the lovely staff who made us very welcome. My wife and I just wanted a quick snack at lunch and after a small mix up over the order - happily enjoyed three hours with friends whilst the kids played in the beer garden. The staff couldn't have been more polite (and apologetic over the error.) The pub itself... More

Not a full on review as I have yet to eat here, although the menu always looks terrific and the dining room looks beautifully traditional English pub. It's round the corner from me and a beautiful real English pub where you sit either inside or out on the grass bank watching the world go by - beers include my favourite... More

Well kept Larkins and Harvey's. Sit in or out. Recommended. Food also looked good and has a good reputation. I will be going back. Outside is best with a view of the church and houses around the green so if the weather permits...

Returning to this lovely village pub I was again surprised at the skill and efficiency of the staff at serving up a top class faultless meal. Beer was superb. The menu looked like ordinary pub fare but the plate told a different story.Superb duck breast and snake and snail pie. Even the ice cream was a cut above the ordinary.Keep... More

This is not the first time that we have eaten here and we always receive a warm welcome on our return. As well as the main menu there is a separate gluten free menu. The food is good wholesome pub food and plenty of it which is what we needed after a long day!! A typical country pub atmosphere.

If you want 5* accommodation without character don't stay here. If you want to stay in an amazing 15th century pub without a straight wall or floor with staff who were amazingly helpful with a good English breakfast then this is the place for you. Good food. Friendly staff , loads of character

I have been a former fan of this pub but went there today with 2 girlfriends and had a very poor meal. I ordered fish and chips and the fish was overlooked so batter dark brown it was a tiny piece of fish. I mentioned it to the staff. Comment "I have noted your comments". No sorry or have a... More

We stayed one night here which was enough. The landlord was friendly but too busy to deal with us and although the bar area was OK and the range of drinks was good, the food was very average and the accommodation poor. The pub is a C16th inn and we realise that comes with limitations, but our room had glass... More

Having cycled part of the Forest Way we decided to stop at the Crown Inn for lunch. Newly refurbished and with lovely staff we sat in the bar with our labrador. The wood fire was blazing and the leek and potato soup in a cob loaf was tasty and hot! Just what we needed to carry on on our journey:-)

The owners could not have been more helpful and I really enjoyed my night at the Crown and breakfast the following morning. Mine was a last minute booking to attend a wedding in the area, but had I known how lovely the Crown and surrounding area were, I would have booked the previous night to enjoy what looked to be...
