Very mixed feelings about Checkers. Yes it is getting old & shabby but this is no reason to be unpleasant to guests. Had pre- organised early 1pm check in to be ready for a wedding & greeted with unpleasant man who was just plain rude. Have to admit that the lady who serviced our room was nice with a problem... This hotel is older and some parts are looking "tired" but the rooms are clean and tidy and the beds are very comfortable. It is quite isolated from handy shopping. The Conference room was well set up and the buffet breakfast for 120 was well done.

Room and bathroom was fine, but oh dear, the pool area was in desperate need of attention. Pool was full of leaves and gum nuts, and looked like it had not been cleaned in weeks. The spa was pretty filthy, and the sauna was hard to get going. General appearance of grounds was untidy with leaves everywhere (yes, I know... More

I was booked in for a week when I started a new job and what a shock I received upon arrival. It seemed over-run by extremley strong cleaning products. Unfortunately I learnt why. Once I was politely accomodated for a room change as I was unable to get up the stairs with an injury (thank you for the service -... More

The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was large, could fit a family of 4. However, the hotel was not as seen in the pictures. The guest rooms were set up to face parking lots, the building seemed old, and there were not many guests at all (of the 5 nights we stayed). It was rather dark at nights.

Nice room with all you could want at a fair price. Nothing outstanding but then again not bad. Rooms have been refurbished. Traffic noise could be a slight issue. Good tv free wifi. Parking is ok outside your room. It's a nice spot in an area with lots to see

We rocked up with no booking and was quickly booked into a twin bed room as requested which was spacious and nice. Beds comfy room was clean and was well priced for a quiet nights stopover and good heating as it was very cold and miserable outside. Good pool area however we were there in winter so didnt use it.... More

Recent refurbishment of the bathroom is the highlight in a somewhat remote location that still suffers from substantial noise. The rooms are spacious and services are adequate but not exceptional. For a single night stop in this didn't leave enough of an impression for me to be likely to head back.
