What a memorable and an amazing experience on InterContinental Maamunagau Island, Maldives. The staff of the InterContinental Resort were dedicated to ensuring that our vacation was remarkable. Jenif, was one of our wait staff. Every day he presented us with a nice and unique personal touch to start our day.
Every morning we were greeted with warmth and pleasant smiles from the staff. Our head waiter Goyani was wonderful and very friendly. He made sure our meals were to our satisfaction.
Alok, the best bartender ever was professional and so knowledgeable. We had many great conversations with him and will miss him.
I am planning a return trip.

My family and I stayed at the property for about a week. Due to all the protocols the hotel has in place for the Covid-19 pandemic, we felt we were able to relax completely and enjoy our time together at the hotel. All our bags are disinfected prior to getting delivered to the rooms, temperature checks twice a day, digital menus, a la carte breakfasts, sanitation stations, check-in/outs in-villa and etc. Everything was done so seamlessly that we felt the measures gave us a peace of mind instead of being a hindrance.
The F&B team and our island curators (Shijin and Amaan) also did an amazing job of taking care of us and accommodating our needs during the stay.
If you are looking for some r&r, I cannot recommend this hotel enough.

I can summarize the stay by one word, exceptional. From the welcome in the airport to the departure.
We had 2 villas booked for 6 night, a two-bedroom lagoon villa and a sunset overwater villa, each with private pool
They were waiting for us, took us to the seaplane lounge to rest and relax before our plane took off. When landing we immeadtiely were escorted to the villas and did the check-in there.
Food and bars were good , Pizza house was a great joy for lunch. My two young kids loved the kids club. We had older boys who did water sports daily and spent a lot of the time at the main beach.
I loved the finishes of the interior with woven tartan and terrazzo floors and authentically of the exterior. The island is very green with hardly little bugs and lizards yet its groomed very well. Maldivian white sand and clear beach. There was a snorkel spot near the island which was very beautiful.
We had good times with the manta club staff. Julie, Jessica, and all the staff. We enjoyed learning about manta.
We had our own curator, Henna. She was amazing rushing to fit everything in our schedule which was already full. She wanted us to try everything, managed our bookings from the excursions, spa appointments, dinner reservations and just about everything we need she will get it done on a whim.
We hired a photographer who took beautiful pictures for us after 5 days on the island and produced sun-kissed complexion.
I would love if they add a specialty coffee shop and another restaurant for breakfast and lunch since all signature restaurants are for dinner only.
The weather was not our friend this trip. It was not supposed to be rainy and windy in December. We canceled some trips and activities because of it.

Stayed a week in this resort. Itsbrelatively new comapred to other resorts. Stayed in the over water villa. A word of caution, most over water villas in the Maldives are grouped in the higher grade rooms, but this resort has it as the basic / standard room. As a result, its small conpared to other over water villas in other resorts. It was however just comfortable for a couple. A family would really struggle for space though.
Seaplane lounge was the biggest dissapointment for a 5 star resort lounge. Its not sea facing and its really tiny. It really pales in comparison with other 5 star seaplane lounges. We were a little unlucky as we waited almost 2 hours for our seaplane (3rd party operator not hotels fault).
The staff in this resort were excellent, always wearing a smile on their faces and super friendly and helpful. Special mention to Kushtchner, JB, Jessica and our curator Jin.
Seasports center was also very well equipted with the latest motorised toys for fun in the sun.
This resort is in the Raa atoll, its a lityle far from Male but the air and sea i find much cleaner and quieter than the resorts in the South atolls (near Male).

Dear randyh1909, Thank you for sharing your experiences at InterContinental Maldives Maamunagau Resort with other discerning travelers. My team and I are pleased to see that you have had a wonderful time and appreciate the entire team's efforts in ensuring you had a memorable stay. As you are sharing your disappointment, we are equally disappointed to hear that the transfer arrangement through the 3rd party seaplane operator was not meeting your expectation. However, please allow me to share with you and our future guests that our new seaplane terminal lounge with a front view of the ocean will welcome guests in June. Thank you again, randyh1909, for choosing to stay with us, and we look forward to welcoming you back here at InterContinental Maldives, where time stops and beautiful stories unfold. I went on a family trip this winter to this hotel and I was blown away by the level of service and comfort provided. The food was very good, the specialized service given to my family was on a very different level than most 5 star hotels and resorts across the world. I would like to commend SHARIFF, our curator and CLAIRE, a waitress at the seafood restaurant for making our trip very welcoming and accommodating.
The snorkelling and water sports were very nice, and the outdoor pool at the sunset villas was a very nice touch.
The only reason that this is not a 5-star review is that the water sports was hillariously overpriced, why did one hour of jetski (they only have guided) cost approximately 450USD after tax? other than that, this would have been a perfect review.

I stayed at the Intercontinental Maldives for the first time and was extremely impressed with this brand new property in every aspect.
We were very warmly received by Mr Jourden Lama along with his entire team and they were always very forthcoming and caring during our entire stay at their resort.
Sunset lagoon villa is stunning from inside & have much better space with two floors. On the sunset side, it's actually more like south facing so you do get sun on the pool for most the time throughout the day. I had views out to sea on one side & the lagoon on the other side.
Food quality was excellent, being a vegetarian and Indian they had vast options for me as well. The staff in all the restaurants were very attentive.
The service was outstanding with the assistance of our curator Mr. Kay who was very professional and available 24/7. Mr. Kay was excellent in his role, giving us all of the space and privacy we required while making sure our meals and the activities were available as and when requested for.
The most important part was the safety from Covid-19 during the pandemic. The Intercontinental took safety measures very seriously. They told us that they use hospital-grade sanitation techniques for all of their guest villas. Masks and hand sanitizer were available everywhere.
A the end I would like to conclude that we were completely satisfied with our holiday at the Intercontinental and wish them lots of growth and success.

The only thing negative I have to say about my trip is it rained for 10 minutes and with everything this resort could do to make you happy, it did not feel completely out of my ask for them to make a little extra magic happen and stop the rain for those 10 minutes.
We were there for a week during Christmas time. Our family of 4 stayed in the 2 bedroom overwater villa that was at the end of the island. Our kids are 8 and 11 years old. Every single aspect of our trip was simply perfect. From the staff to the food and onwards to the resort and accommodations were simply amazing. Our curator, Kay, was awesome. He attended to every single request and need of ours. He engaged in conversations with my kids regularly and always kept us apprised of all our options and activities going on at the resort.
At breakfast, i want to thank Hanah, Sweety, Pragya, Desantha and Shara for great service. In addition, Retheesh the wine sommelier knew his stuff really well and recommended us some great wines to try. I am something of a wine aficionado and pleasing me is not easy. For those of you that really enjoy wine and would have preferred to have brought your wine with you (but couldn't because of fear of maldives customs), the hotel wine list was decent and very reasonably priced. I was pleasantly surprised.
I highly recommend this hotel to anyone and I plan to definitely return with my family.

I have spent 5 amazing nights in InterContinental Maldives Maamunagau Resort in September 2021. I would like to thank Mr Jude for making us feel at home! You can feel the positive vibes once you step in the island. Our experience in the resort was amazing and unforgettable.
Special thanks for Malik he was our butler in this stay he was so friendly, helpful and prompt. He booked us our activities and dinners and all his recommendations were excellent. Our departure was smooth and well organized by Malik.
I loved the hotel interior and the different spots that you can chill in. The Retreat area is an adult space were you can enjoy the pool and the lagoon view. The beach & pool areas are clean and well maintained. We are lucky to enjoy two days with life music performance which was starting after sunset to 11pm.
The dinning experience was nice were every night the hotel host a special dinner either in light house or the fish market beside the main restaurant which is always open. The food is great and the vibes are amazing and i highly recommend that you take the half board with the happy hours were you will enjoy the afternoon tea beside the pool or the Retreat area.
We have done snorkeling in the hotel they have a nice reef spot. In addition we tried the adventure snorkeling the experience was wonderful thanks to Matto we saw a turtle:)
The service is amazing the staff is supper friendly and they try thier best to make you comfortable thanks to Ali, Nawah, sweetie and ashraf and sorry if I missed anyone.

Magnificent stay in this resort. The staff is super friendly, super attentive, super helpful. I would specify that Kay was beyond amazing and helpful person.
As per the food it was delicious, we tried all 3 restaurants and the food was delicious in all of them. Not to mention the teatime and the happy hours at the retreat. The hotel is family-friendly but you can enjoy easily your stay even if you are a couple. The over-water villas are for adults only same for the retreat where there is a pool and bar for adults only.
The room is great, spacious, comfy and no plastic is used (even the tooth brush is made of wood)
I have only one comment, we booked the over-water villa (it comes with private pool) as my husband is a ihg platinum we get automatically an upgrade to the higher room, it was the sunset villa, it’s exactly the same villa but supposedly with sunset view, actually it's not, it's only with a side view of the lighthouse.
As for the activities, there are a lot to do, you get complementary 1 hour pedaling and 1 hour stand up paddle everyday. As for other sea activities it's payable. We tried the dolphins cruise, we saw so many dolphins. We tried the snorkeling as well, great experience, the sea is so clean and you get to see maldives sea life.

We stayed for 8 nights in their duplex lagoon pool villas. This is a newly built resort, and the rooms inside are just stunning. We had views out to sea on one side and the lagoon on the other. It felt like living in a small home. The outside shower was brilliant, particularly at sunset, incredible views, although am not so sure the view was as good those passing by in boats! There was so much attention to detail.
On the outside the villas are built in a yellow/brown concrete and slightly uninspiring modern style, but this belies the inner beauty. One of the highlights of the resort is the lighthouse where you can walk up and purvey the whole island.
The food was excellent, particularly the fish restaurant, and funnily enough we preferred the main Cafe Umi to the signature lighthouse restaurant, which was just a bit too rich for our own tastes.
The night dives were the highlight of my partner's stay.
The gym is small, and sadly too warm. The temp is set at 23C and the fitness manager said that it is fixed at that and cannot be reduced which was a real shame. The resort went out of their way to secure us slots where nobody else would be using, crucial in a small gym in the current climate.
We found out on day 6 that between 18.00 and 20,00 there are entirely free drinks at the bar - whatever you want.. We hadn't listended propery to our orientation so missed this nugget!
BUT... what I really want to talk about is the service standards whch are beyond anything we have experieced. The manager Jude, and our curator Mauvy were just outstanding in every way. We are both private people, they were very sensitive to that yet were there whenever we needed something and went way beyond the call of duty at times. It was a big birthday trip for me and they presented something I will treasure for ever. Mauvy went on line and took a photo pf me which was converted by a digital artist into this amazing image, framed alongside dozens of signed messages from the staff. it blew me away.
The kindness and thoughtfulness of Mauvy is really special.
The staff in general are wonderful, you can see they love what they do and as guests you feel special.
An amazing stay.

yes. Dive centre is there
For my birthday my daughters organised the dining on the beach followed by a movie on the beach!! It was absolutely amazing, the food was delicious and the service was out of this world! Truly one of the best things we’ve ever done. What an incredible experience it was.
Hi. The evening entertainment was limited, that was the only thing we thought they could have improved on. There was a singer a few times a week but not every night.
I think it’s possible. But you would better discuss it directly with the management. They are really client-oriented… I am not sure about the villas for late check out - it depends on availability. But they have other guest facilities to use while you are waiting your transfer
