Made a late booking on Friday to go out for lunch and have a facial. Lunch was as good as it gets, we both chose the duck and it was perfectly cooked, just a little pink and so tender it melted in your mouth. Pavlova for dessert rounded off the meal perfectly. All Beautifully presented and served by friendly staff. After our meal had settled we were invited by Katy to go into the spa area. She offered us the option of having a gown and using the facilities in the spa but, as we were a little short on time ( our fault, not the hotel or spa) we declined. Paperwork completed and I was allocated Katy and had booked the 30 minute facial and it was 30 mins of pure relaxation with a lovely neck and shoulder massage as well. I was well de-stressed by the time she finished. A relaxing day and one I will be repeating as soon as we are out of lockdown. …
After a long summer of lockdown and changed plans we were delighted to be able to make 2 overnight trips to Wolfscastle before entering more restrictions. We were in room 28 this time, a Stirling room, with beautiful views across to Treffgarne rocks. An excellent dinner, particularly enjoyed the scallop and lobster bisque starter!! A good nights sleep in a giant bed with really comfy mattress, followed by a very tasty breakfast, my poached eggs had beautiful orange yolks. Efficient and friendly staff, sorry we cannot see their welcoming smiles at the moment behind their masks. Felt very safe with all the changes made due to COVID. Look forward to returning again soon, thank you!!!!
A pleasant if disappointing stay in room 1. At first glance the room we were given was lovely but after looking out of the windows our opinion changed. There were two large windows but only about a third of one window showed anything except a view blocking roof. We booked by phone so we should have been told about the view from the room we were given. If this had happened we would have chosen another date or chosen a Cariad room with a view. At seaside hotels one has to pay more for a sea view. Here we should have been charged less for a room with no view at all as it certainly affected our enjoyment of our stay. The bathroom was beautiful with a separate shower and bath. However later that evening when we wanted to take our tablets we found that there were no glasses so had to rinse our coffee cups. The garden was small but it would have been nice to linger there over a drink on a sunny day. It was however noisy, due to its proximity to the main road. The dinner was good and we slept well on the luxurious pillows. Breakfast however was a great disappointment. We started with porridge which was of a funny consistency and almost cold. I then had scrambled egg and smoked salmon. The salmon was fine but I didn’t enjoy the scrambled egg. My husband had bacon and egg. He found the bacon hard and the egg tiny. ( He had ordered just bacon and egg). The coffee was delicious but no one asked us if we would like more coffee or toast. All in all a disappointing stay as it was meant to partially make up for two cancelled holidays! The £145 that we were charged was certainly excessive for the room and breakfast we had.…
Just had a short break here but unfortunately after all the excellent reviews I was a little disappointed. The communal areas were very nice and the staff were lovely but I was very disappointed with our room. Although the ensuite was nice and fairly modern, I found the bedroom very dated. I was particularly surprised to find a tatty old chair in the room which looked like it should have been thrown in a skip! The view from the window was of roof tops so a little disappointing also. The day we arrived I also found a coarse black hair on the bedclothes (wasn't sure if it was a dog hair) and also a hair in the wash hand basin. Breakfast was nice although on two separate occasions it was scolding hot and appeared to have been "nuked" in the microwave. The staff were the best thing about this hotel and I couldn't fault them. Although I don't think I'd stop here again as it wasn't what I'd expect of a four star hotel. …
I had a lash lift and tint on Wednesday and I just have to say how amazing my eyes look now . Meg was so professional and made feel completely at ease - I felt totally safe and looked after. I would highly recommend this treatment to anyone.
