We love the way this old building has been given a new lease of life with tastefully decorated rooms. Its location is perfect just a block or two from the town centre with its coffee shops and cafes. We also appreciated the complimentary snacks and continental breakfast, and again enjoyed relaxing on the wonderful, spacious verandah overlooking the town.

Fabulous building with character and class. Rooms are nicely appointed, comfortable bed linen . The balcony on the second floor is lovely for an evening drink!. Looking forward to returning. Definitely a place to try.

This is a beautifully restored heritage building that has been thoughtfully converted into modern hotel suites. Our junior suite was spacious, tasteful and very comfortable, and everything worked well. There is a tiny kitchenette and a nice bathroom, with rooms serviced daily. It is within easy (and flat) walking distance to many of Mudgee’s restaurants. I haven’t given this an “excellent” rating for two reasons. The first is the limited hours of the hotel reception and the constraints on checking in. The second is the disappointing continental breakfast bag that is provided at a cost on request, particularly as it does not include milk, which is only available on request from reception (a problem with the limited reception hours). If management can fix these things, then I’d be upping my rating to an excellent.

We had booked a Perry Street Suite, $435 for one night. Unfortunately due to circumstances beyond our control we arrived after 6 pm. We advised the reception that we would be late and were told an email would be sent to us giving instructions to retrieve our key. We were directed to a row of little black boxes with no lighting. Fumbling in the dark for an unlit minor safe, following instructions trying to illuminate said safe proved fruitless. Upon ringing the reception again, we were told how to do it again, once again this proved unsuccessful and upon ringing reception were told ‘we haven’t had an issue with the safe boxes before’ Hardly the hospitable way to welcome guests who were cold and tired after a long journey!Eventually a staff member turned up but a kind guest had helped us after the reception had reset the settings. On booking we had been emailed for any any particular requests, May we please have blankets and not doona‘s on the bed was the request. We repeated this request twice. Needless to say the doona was on the bed and upon checkout, I wondered why our request had not been met. We were told the blanket was in the cupboard. IE do it yourself. The bathroom although large, had an alcove for the wash basin outside the bathroom. As well as the bedroom we had a sitting room. The windows were all opaque and upon opening the bedroom window, which had to be propped up with the cutting board, our view of the backyard fence, the heating tank, and other utilities approximately 2 feet away, was not memorable. Strongly advise anybody thinking of this property to look elsewhere. One can do a great deal better for for half the price.

Thank you John and Geraldine for taking the time to review your stay with us. We are disappointed to hear that it was not the experience you had expected. Of course we understand that our guests cannot always arrive in reception hours and therefore we have a very thorough after hours check in procedure. The lock boxes for after hours keys, are in fact located directly under the exterior light at the front of the building (which for readers information can be clearly seen on our website photographs beside the external phone). It is a very well lit area as we want our AH guests to feel safe on arrival. Our guests receive their lockbox ID and a 5 digit code to access their key. We notified a staff member immediately to attend and assist, after being made aware of your trouble accessing the lockbox. The Perry Suite which you selected, is our premier suite offering a significantly larger internal footprint than our other suites. The washbasin and vanity is all part of the luxurious bathroom area off the king bedroom. We take a great amount of pride in the way we look after our guests. It is disappointing that you did not feel this way after staff also tried to assist with your flat tyre on departure. We wish you well on your future travels.

If you are staying in Dubbo I would not suggest looking anywhere else. The whole place has been excellently renovated, great size room and easy walk into the town centre. Haylee and the rest of the staff are terrfiic. Across the road from a good pub, 100 metres to Club Mudgee and about a 5 minute walk to the Oriental Hotel with great atmosphere, big bistro and beer garden area with a terrific seperate kids area that parents can watch on a large video screen. Also really good eating at the Red Heifer in the Lawson Hotel other end of town. I'll talk about the vineyards in another post but we will definitely be back to stay at Perry Street
