This is to be a comprehensive WARNING review, do not go to his hotel (or in this area) Friday / Saturday unless you are happy being kept awake to 7am by clubs / Loud obnoxious drunk German Lads / No double glazing you will not sleep / ……. I have been told during the week the area is fine (I just went for the weekend!) The hotel in another area I would have given a 2-2.5 rating. This hotel and the area of S’Arenal (El Arenal) in general is a German Oriented Place, the hotels are full of german tourists (mainly the 18-30 crowd), the writing / boards / Menus etc are in German. LOCATION The hotel has an entrance on a side street, there are clubs opposite the entrance and these do not close until 7AM! The back of the hotel backs another hotel where they have loud music until late at night. The main side of the hotel which faces the beach has a restaurant and bar attached to it. The hotel is close to the beach, you cross the main road and you are there. Its about 15 minutes from the airport when direct (took 1hr with the transfer as lots of places drop of Palma Hotels first) You can get a bus from the airport to El Arenal and the bus stops outside the hotel…….directly outside the door, so if your room overlooks this you also get buses, lorries, rubbish vans etc until about 2am also. The main beach road had loads of eating places, bars and shops……..go to your right, towards the Aquarium end rather than the Harbour end, much quieter and nicer variety. There is the little “tourist train” which is outside the hotel and runs the full length of the coast of that side of the Island, its 4.50 and you can jump on and off as you like. Beach is a sandy beach, lots of beds and parasols (for euros) and nice blue sea which is fine to swim in (being careful as there currently is a jelly-fish warning!). Its not far from Palma, which is a quieter area. I have had no issues walking around the area, day or night, being a lone female, no issues at all, felt safe at all times……..apart from being annoyed by the African Sunglasses/Hat salesman which are on every corner, following you saying “cheap price cheap price”! There is a swimming pool, which you wouldnt know as theres no info, I came across it by accident, thinking id climbed enough stairs to my room NOISE Its horrendous at the weekend unless you are there to stay up til 7am and get p’d and sleep during the day, or dont mind being kept awake by others doing that, if that doesnt fit your idea of a nice relaxing holiday, dont go there! The windows/doors are old and wooden, they have gaps which theyve tried to stick some silicone or something in as they dont fit to try and make them fit, but you hear EVERYTHING, from talking, shouting, puking, cars, bars music, screaming, you may aswell not have doors! The yorping, chanting, shouting is all very evident. Then the mainly german youths come back into the hotel and drink / shout / play music in the hallways and walk ways / slamming and baging on doors and arguing outside your bedrooms……. I wasnt going to go out and confront myself but there were no instructions on the bedroom phone as to how to reach reception, doesnt connect when you pick up, pressing “0” didnt work…...they finished on Saturday morning at 5am, but the clubs were still open til 7am and still as rowdy and noisy. There is NO soundproofing in rooms, but strangely there is in Reception, once the doors are shut you cannot hear the noise on the floors or outside…….shame they didnt think about their sleeping clients! Saturday I took sleeping tablets, which is crap for a holiday!!!! Mind you, I did get my own back they quitened from about 6am……….so at 7:30 when I went to get my coach I banged on both their doors continuously until someone answered and I smiled and walked away!! The hotel needs to employ security to go around the hotel at night and deal with the inconsiderate morons, unless they want to advertise this place as a “p’d up knocking house for the weekend”, you may as well be in Magaluff. It also needs decent doors and windows to soundproof the room. I could see other “decent considerate” guests at breakfast who clearly had no sleep either…….and the street outside the main doors is a sea of puke saturday and sunday morning. This apparently is throughout May to September at the weekends! AVOID unless thats your thing. ROOM No tea or coffee, which is normal in most hotels and something you need when youve had no sleep to keep you from being drowsy the next day. No hairdryer (again standard normally, wish id have known) One sachet of shampoo and shower gel, not replaced after used. Beds are comfortable enough, thin pillows could do with spares Blackout curtain works well Aircon works well Cleaned very well by cleaners each day. Whole of the inside of the hotel is clean, they were working hard swilling the sick off the porch at 7:30am when I came out. Toilet had sign saying “save water” and it was running by itself wasting water, it could “self flush” in about 30 minutes with the amount dripping. Shower and bath both fine, hot water plentiful...but slow took 13 minutes to half fill a bath Sufficient towels which were changed daily Wardrobe, no drawers. Safe…..which was 2 Euros per day and a 10 euro deposit, not sure what the deposit was for it was attached to the wardrobe you couldnt run off with it. No information books about the hotel, facilities, activities, food times, places of interest, bus timetables etc like most places have. “Terrace” was a metal gate thing about 4” from the patio door. TV didnt work, didnt realise until day 4 you had to buy a remote from reception….doesnt say anywhere!!!! Your key is attached to a card which works the electric, so you cant leave the aircon on when you go out to come back to a cool room as keys have to be handed in Wifi was available in the Reception area only, you had to pay for it in your rooms which was more than my EE charged for a day for 4g everywhere. FOOD I only stayed for breakfast so can only comment on that….Poor…..I was first in at 8am and the “hot food” bacon, eggs, beans and sausage was cold already with the film on the scrambled egg and beans, bet it had been there half hour……..there was one fruit and some yoghurt, breads, preserves, cheese, meat, cereal and various cakes. STAFF / RECEPTION Friendly and spoke many languages. Had to hand key in each time you went out, they were quick and efficient. 24 hour availablity (if you know how to ring down) Overall, this is a VERY budget hotel but others at the same price seem a lot better from what ive been into and looked at further along the beach. Maybe they are looking at attracting the mainly german youth who go to bed at 7am. All I can do is reiterate if you want to get to sleep do not go there May-Sept on a weekend, its awful, im not an old fuddy duddy either and if its your thing fine, theres obviously no consideration for those who want to sleep, there were older people and children in the hotel so the behaviour was shocking really. Should be advertised for what it is digs for sleeping during the day for the pissed inconsiderate youth. Knowing what I know , ill never go back, been to majorca numerous times, Ill stay much further up the coast.…
