Hotel is in a great location, across the road from the beach and loads of shops, restaurants along the vast promenade. We paid for sea view room and being on the 3rd floor was above the restaurant so couldn't use the balcony as noise from the AC and vents and cooking smells made us keep the doors closed. The staff were very helpful as we asked to move rooms so ended up on the 7th floor with a sea view. If sea view is what you are looking for here then ask for higher floors. The rooms have AC, hair dryer, TV (remote at a cost) but there is too much to do to stay inside and watch tv, safe (no key). The main lift is very busy, but there is another lift at the back that not many people use. The are terraces to lounge on and a roof bar and sml pool. The food here is good, plenty to choose from. Prices outside are reasonable. This area seems more popular with German groups, never saw one fight just people having a good time. Good area for kids as land train, mini golf, aquarium near by. Bus service is cheap €2 each way and 30min to go to Palma for a day out.

Positive:
Very friendly staff; the restaurant met the expectations for 3 stars; excellent location (right across from the best part of the 6 km long beach, shops and restaurants right nearby; far enough away from noisy cafes full of drunken youth; it is close to the airport); wonderful view from the balcony and terrace on the roof as well as from the restaurant; taxi and bus stop right across the street from the hotel. It is well connected by public transport to Palma. The bus runs every 10 minutes and costs 2 euros.
Negative:
I don't know what the other rooms are like, but our apartment (816) was in a very bad condition. There was a terrible smell, so we had to keep all the windows open non-stop; the cleaning could be better; on some parts of the floor, the laminate was torn off; we could not use the air conditioners because they were full of dirt; there is no soap; mold on certain parts of the wall; we could not close the bathroom door because the door handle was broken.
In hotel it's hard to get elevator, so we had to climb the stairs to the 8th floor. The pool is very small and always full of hungover youth.
The photos on the website do not correspond to the reality.

What still bothered us and is not related to the hotel is that there is no shade on the beach. Umbrellas are so small that they can only protect the head from the sun.

Liked it here and we got a good deal. Location is very handy as it's almost on the beach which is massive btw, and there are so many restaurants/bars/cafes within walking distance from the hotel so you can walk everywhere. The rooms are ok because they are clean and had what we needed and they gave us clean towels and sheets. They're quite simple in decoration but the price reflects that it's not a luxury hotel. It's great though and worked really well for us. Buses are easy to catch into the city or even to the airport if you don't have the money for taxis.

The hotel is 1 min from thd beach. It is clean and very professional.
The seaview was perfect. Breakfast and dinner great choices. The only thing missing at the dinner was the water. I understand that drinks were not included howevervwater should be provided for free.
To make it greater it would be nice to either gave a fridge in the room or access ice cubes I would not mind to pay for the ice cubes Eg at the bar but it would be nice if the price was lusted. Few times staff was excellent and just gave me the ice but once took €1.5 when in the shop 1 min away big bag of ice was cheaper. It was just once so I really apriciate the two ladies at the bar downstairs.
The rooms were cleaned daily but I am not sure if bedsheets were changed or just tied up.
Staff was friendly.
Definitely go on the trip to see caves and dolphins.
There is a kiosk by the beach just outside the hotel with great guy who was very helpful.
There is a loud music until 1 am but if you dont like it and you close the balcony door it was not disturbing at all. There is a small roof pool but also another sunbathing area on 8 th floor.
Comparing to other 3* hotels this one deserves at least 4*.
Also there is a bus from the airport that stops like 2 min away.
There is a shop within 1 min, Mcdonald an Burger King 10 min. The cheapest and best ice cream are downstairs.
You should also check food places on the right hand side away from the beach. Pizza €5, kebab €2.50.
If you turn right and forst left there is bakery, fruit and veg shop that is cheaper that the one on the corner.
I would definitely return there Enjoyed it soooooo much Well done to the hotel staff and management
Booking on line withbreakfast and dinner is so much cheaper as brek is €7 and dinner €14 per person. On line works out about €5 for dinner for two together.
There is no limited or set time when you can eat so it was great comparing to eg Bluesea Arena that was sooooo disapointing

Great hotel Thank you

Where do I start? We arrived by hire car and spent 20 minutes driving round and round trying to find somewhere to park. Having parked a good 15 minute walk from the hotel we checked in. Staff on the desk were very nice. When we got to our room through a maze of corridors it was very hot inside but that was understandable given it was facing the sun. When we got back to the room around 10pm it was still like an oven despite us closing the curtains and leaving the air con on full. The air con was so poor we went down to reception to complain only to be told that it wasn’t working on our side of the hotel and were offered another room. We were shown 3 different rooms and reluctantly chose the last one. Although we paid extra for a sea view room, we now had a “side sea view” room with no suggestion of any refund. The air con in the new room was still about as affective as a mouse blowing through a straw but it was better than nothing.
Breakfast was typically continental with lots of cold meats, bread and cheese. There were fried and scrambled eggs, sausage, hash browns, beans and very greasy streaky bacon. An assortment of cakes was also available. Overall the breakfast was very good.
The vast majority of the guests in the hotel were German teenagers who obviously didn’t get the memo about mask wearing and the rest of the resort wasn’t much better. Most of the bars had Dutch staff who all spoke excellent English. The best part about our stay was sitting in a bar full of Germans when we beat them 2-0 in the Euros!!
On day 3 of our stay we went out for lunch and stumbled upon Cala d’or which so much nicer than el arenal and our hotel,so much so that we decided to pay nearly £900 extra and moved resorts entirely.
To summarise the hotel is very poor although the breakfast is ok and the staff do their best. Do yourself a favour, avoid the whala beach like the plague and go somewhere nice.

Dear Steve, We appreciate the time you have dedicated in writing us another review about your recent stay at whala!beach. The opinion and feedback we receive from our guests is very important for us, being the best way to help us improve. As we replied in your previous review, we are very sorry to hear again that you both left with a bad impression and that the hotel did not meet your expectations. Furthermore, we apologize once again for the inconveniences you could have suffered during your stay due to the problem we had with the air conditioning. As we explained, one of the general air conditioning machines broke down and the external technicians had to order a special part of the machine in order to fix it. This took a couple of days as they had to bring it from the mainland of Spain. However, we did all our best to find you both another room for you to stay in. For us this incident was also very unfortunate, as we are the first ones interested in everything to be working as normal. On the other hand, we are glad to read that you overall opinion about the buffet restaurant was positive and that you enjoyed your stay in Mallorca even if it was at another area of the island. Kind regards, Management Whala!beach

This will surely be one to remember I loved this hotel and its proximity to the beach, its right on the water and just a stones throw away from pubs, shops, romantic restaurants and more.

We booked full board all inclusive which included daily alcohol and daily buffets, for all meals.

There is an appropriate number of beach and poo loungers for the amount of rooms, this is usually a big stressor for me on holiday having to wake up at the crack of morning to secure one, not an issue here.

Also appreciated a check in time of 2pm earlier than most.

For me location is very important when I travel.
This hotel has the perfect location, close to Palma town, close to the airport, 20-25 minutes by the local bus from the airport to the hotel. Right next to the beach, and if you want to go to the gym in the morning there is a small gym in the next street.
Perfect view view over the Palma bay with the mountains in the background. Wonderful sunset and when then night comes with all the lights.
Good food, clean rooms and in the rest of the hotel too. Very friendly personnel and a nice pool area on the roof, I always take a last dip in the jacuzzi before I go and prepare for the evening.
Been here many times now and will go back soon again this year.

We paid for a self catering apartment, 2 adults and 2 teenage boys.
We arrived late evening and found no duvets in the room for the teens meaning a trip to reception to organise.
The fridge wasn't plugged in meaning that our freshly bought perishables would go off. The microwave didn't have a base plate and there wasn't enough cutlery or crockery for 4 people. No kettle, no toaster and although clean(ish) was not suitable for a weeks stay.
Externally there were dangerously broken steps and floor areas. The infinity pool that we were told would be included was closed and the lighting on the top floor wasn't working. The latter meaning that my fiance almost broke her ankle falling down steps with no edge markers on them. Handy when this was signed for direction to the sky bar....
The walls and ceilings appear to have been made with rice paper. We weren't keen at joining in with a neighbouring party at 5am though (4 nights on the bounce).
The hotel is a few buildings linked together meaning that room access is confusing and in places extremely poor.
We were told that the room contained a TV, true but there was a 10euro deposit for the remote control.
The balcony was tiny and 2 chairs for a 4 berth apartment was disappointing.
Plus points, most staff are lovely, location brilliant and Sam & Betty's diner which is part of the hotel were great.

Meant to be a 3 star rated establishment, it's 2 at a push.
Don't book if you have disability or walking issues because you CANNOT access the hotels upper facilities.

S'arenal is lovely. Would we return? Yes but definitely not to Whala Beach. Cheap but rough.

The three of us stayed in a studio and all thought it was a great deal. Nice views, loads of room and beds changed daily, massive breakfast, that ensaimada bread is too good. It was hot and sunny all week, never been on the beach so much as we were here. There is a cute pool on the roof that’s a great spot to get some rays, just tended to be a bit quieter in the morning. Lots of other people staying here from Europe and the COVID rules were mixed, what’s new! So lucky to have been away and lucky with our choice.

We had one of the partial sea view rooms for our stay and let me express that the views are simply spectacular and money cannot buy you a better location to stay in: this one takes the cake (a 1 min walk to the beach and all ocean and sun everywhere). The staff was extremely attentive, we were accommodated in our room and within 30min of arrival even though we were hours early. Exceptionally clean. Enough said!
