We were looking for a beach-based holiday in Cyprus & had previously been to Nissi Beach & loved the sea there. A bit of research showed us Mackronissos beach, claimed to be the best beach in Cyprus-worth a try we thought, particularly with an all-inclusive hotel, the Asterias Beach, right on that beach. We were not disappointed with hotel or beach. Hotel staff very friendly from reception to bar staff & dining area staff. We arrived late & had been upgraded to a sea-view room & they had left us a light snack in the room which was very much appreciated. Restaurant was always very clean, light & bright with plenty of room around food stations, food replenished regularly & good selection & variety. Bar service always with a smile & very prompt. We loved that we could sit on sun loungers by the pool area & gently stroll onto the beach in a minute. The sea was calm, warm & very swimmable & then so nice to stroll back to our sun loungers. A highlight of most days was aquagym in the sea, I have never seen so many people doing this with smiles on their faces. We had a very reasonably priced massage expertly done (about £30 I think) Easy walk into Ayia Napa when we wanted to. We will return!

Overall this holiday has been "meh". The staff has been lovely and warm. However, the reception staff has been on the unfriendly side. I have also noticed that the "head" staff whether it being the bar or waiters have also been very firm with rules. The hotel is nice and clean and the room has been nice, the safe in the room, you had to hire which was not said in the booking. The cleaning service have been very persistant about cleaning your room. One morning, they entered the room without knocking and with the "do not disturb" sign on door, which was annoying to say the least. The location of the hotel is nice, as it is right next to the beach, but they charge you to use the sun beds which is not part of the hotel. Maybe there should be free of charge sun beds on the beach provided by the hotel as it is titled as a beach hotel, it is an hour walk to the city centre. The entertainment team, in the evenings it has been OK, not the best as we have gone out of season, it is acts such as singers most nights. Would of liked some more variety Now lets talk about the food. The food has been the most disappointing this holiday. We had breakfast only a few times as there was not a lot of choice and not nice either. during lunch, lack of variety and most of it was cold, tastless and bland. Some things was not cooked properly either. As for dinner, they had a themed night every night, however, it seemed like it was still the same food and maybe one dish which was targeted to that theme, once again it was tasteless and bland. I was not excited to go to dinner, it was more like "im hungry i need to eat". The dessert was pretty much the same everynight, they had a chocolate cake which was the same tasting and texture as, the chocolate moose and the chocolate ginache, just different name. The facilities of the hotel such as indoor swimming pool and gym was great. I was very excited to come to this hotel, reading reviews and such, but it wasn't worth the money

We stayed in Asterias Beach Hotel in the beginning of November, having booked it directly from the hotel website. We booked B&B and garden view room. However, we were pleasantly surprised that the view from our window included plenty of the sea and was barely different from most of other rooms. Except if was lower floor, so you could see the kitchen as well. The location is great, just by a lovely sandy beach, which was not empty even in November. I can't image what's going here in summer. The beach is great for small children as it's pretty shallow first ten meters into the sea. The room itself was lovely and clean, but facilities are a bit outdated, bathroom could easily belong to a 3*** hotel. The rooms is soundproofed, we could here EVERYTHING that was going on in other rooms. Luckily, most of the clientele were German retirees, so there was not much noise in the evening. Breakfast was plentiful, but simple, didn't inspire us to have dinner at the hotel even once. However, there's an a-la cart restaurant on site called Koralli - now, that is a must visit. Upgraded Greek food, with lovely service. Entertainment in the evening was not too sophisticated, but generally adorable. Kids club wasn't really working, maybe because there were only a handful of kids. However, there were daily sport activities, facilitated by two energetic girls. In fact, we really liked the staff - friendly and helpful. There was one small hiccup when we asked the reception for some cutlery in the room and they redirected us to the kitchen where they said that they have to charge us for the use of a knife and a fork, though a day before there was no problem with that. And of course, a safe box for EUR2 per day, unless you are on an all-inclusive package? That's cheap! In November, a lot of business are closed, so there's really nothing much in the neighbourhood, outside of the hotel there was only one tavern within the walking distance and a couple of shops. Was not a problem for a short stay.

This is an attractive hotel with lovely gardens and an excellent spa. I had a swim up junior suite with private terrace and jacuzzi, sharing the small pool in front of my terrace with just 4 other suites, facing a lawn and the private sandy beach. Bliss. The self-service food was plentiful and there was good choice. A family with young children settled into the next door suite on day 2. Their youngest was terribly noisy and, as I'd come for peace and sunbathing, I researched adults only hotels and found one. I asked reception whether I could have a refund for the following day onwards and they insisted on refunding me for that same day as well, even though I didn't check out until 2pm. All the staff were friendly and kind. It would be super if they limited the junior suites to 12 years old and above. They have two big swimming pools and could make one of them adults only. Cypriot hotels and restaurants haven't caught on to the alcohol free trend yet. Even some all-inclusive guests don't drink alcohol nowadays. Alcohol free drinks and/or cocktails would have been nice.

We visited in late October through a package with Jet2.Com and had paid extra for a room with a sea view which in all fairness it was but it was also North facing so very little sun on the balcony and it also overlooked the kitchens We also paid extra for all inclusive plus package that was meant to give you access to international drinks, unfortunately the only beer available was the local Cyprus beer and the international spirits were poor to say the least. Even Coke was chargeable but you could get the “imitation Coke” from the soda machine at the bar free, it was a pity it was always flat !! The buffet food was ok but always cold, there was obviously something wrong with the way it was meant to be kept hot. This being the case we headed into Ayia Napa on 3 of the 7 days for food There was a menu with burger and chips, fish and chips etc available in one of the bars but again this had to be paid for. The fridge in the room had 2 beers and 2 cans of Pepsi in it when we arrived but it was never topped up On the upside the staff were very pleasant and the room was kept very clean with regular towel changes. If you want to go on the beach it’s 7 euros a day for the use of 2 Sunbeds and an Umbrella The entertainment was also very poor. We usually go on an all inclusive holiday but I certainly wouldn’t recommend this hotel as it wasn’t value for money
